One experiment brings to life creatures called "Chemies," which are stored in "Ride Chemie Cards" until accidentally released into the wild. Ichinose Hotaro is entrusted with the Gotcha Driver to recollect the Chemies. If resonated with a good heart, Hotaro can fuse with them to become Kamen Rider Gotchard. However, Chemies influenced by human malice can turn into monsters called Malgam.
