Enjoyable but inconsistent characterisation.

Overall I loved this series. The characters were mostly well thought out and believable however there were a few inconsistencies that slightly lowered my enjoyment of the series, most notable in the character of the 'monster'. Earlier episodes showed he was thoughtful and supportive of other's needs and very understanding. Later episodes he appeared to forget all of this and became suspicious and judgemental for a time. It was not in line with his character and was not enjoyable to watch. It very much came across as a plot driven requirement with no foundation rather than a believable character driven challenge. Also I can't be the only one that was disappointed that a certain scene from the pilot trailer never materialised in the show.

There's also a very unhealthy setup for the pet turtle featured in the series which is very irresponsible of the production team. I would hate to see anyone copy this set up for their own pets. The enclosure is far too small with nowhere near enough water for proper submersion. There is no basking spot with a heat lamp or a source of UVB light which will likely result in a softening and deforming of the shell. There was a moment where I actually thought this was going to be addressed and was a little impressed with the detail but this turned out to be wishful thinking on my part. No turtle should be kept in this environment long term. Please do not copy this setup.

Sometimes you just need a cute BL to get through the day

I honestly wasn't expecting this to be as good as it was. Sometimes you just need something cute, sweet and fluffy to get you through the day, and this was 100% it. Diew is the biggest cutie patootie to ever exist. Istg, every time he smiles I just feel the need to clutch my heart cuz of the cuteness overload. That smile is a lethal weapon, I tell you. Can stop wars, I say. And don't even get me started on how relatable Diew was man. He hit too close to home. Him being terrified of being himself was something I related to too much, and the awkwardness in his interactions with people got be gritting my teeth cuz I could see myself in him.

And God has officially entered the list of greenest of green flags to ever green. He's actually such a teddy man. Those muscular arms but actually the biggest softie. AND he can play the drums like a god? Yeah, Diew is one lucky man. This was just a feel good show, and the amount of times I had to pause my screen to screech and squeal cuz of the cuteness is uncountable. They have to be the cutest couple ever and they didn't even start dating when it all began. AND THAT CONFESSION?? OMFG THAT CONFESSION!!!! HANDS DOWN THAT HAD TO BE THE SMOOTHEST AND BEST CONFESSION I'VE SEEN IN BLS. TELL ME SOMETHING THAT CAN TOP THAT! I'LL WAIT!!!!

But then ep 11 happened...

I'm sorry, BUT WHAT HAPPENED TO MY FEEL GOOD SHOW??? WHAT HAPPENED TO MY CUTIES??? That entire scene actually got me to nearly cry. They both had their reasons so I couldn't pick a side, but the moment they start wiping each others tears????? I LOST IT!! AND THEN GOD LISTING ALL THE THINGS HE LIKES ABOUT DIEW??? MOTHER, PREPARE MY FUNERAL!! They're such a healthy couple I can't. They're new to love, love and appreciate everything about one another, and are afraid their flaws will ruin the relationship. And watching them learn to grow from that was honestly so beautiful and heart-warming. Because that's what young love is at the end of the day, learning and growing. I just can't believe how much I love these two.

FOUND FAMILY TROPE WITH AN INTROVERT AS THE MAIN CHARACTER ALWAYS GETS ME

Monster Next Door is a heartwarming Thai BL series that combines quirky humor and meaningful themes. It explores topics like self-acceptance, loneliness, and finding unexpected connections in life.

The relationship between the leads is sweet and built on trust, showcasing a healthy MLM dynamic. With its comforting vibe and adorable moments, the series balances lighthearted comedy with emotional depth, making it a delightful and uplifting watch for fans of feel-good storytelling.

And I also love the cast

Great Communication Surrounded by Fluff!

I unashamedly love this warm, fluffy series. I love odd couples and fluff, so this show hits the sweet spot for me. What I loved most was how the main couple communicated most of the time. They both stated their feelings and limitations, and worked together to resolve their differences. The only conflict happened when they did not follow their usually communication style.

I did not like the band's song that they played throughout the series. I felt that it sounded like a song you would hear at an amusement part. Maybe it was the keyboards.

Bottom line, introverts are not always anti-social and extroverts do not always force or push introverts to step out of their comfort zone. This couple worked together using their strengths.

My Thursday will Never remain the same

From the first episode, I already knew I would love this series so much. Why? Because it was light and simple. I remember coming here to say it reminded me of the early Thai BLS that were so simple and ordinary but still managed to keep you glued to your screen. Of course, it's the usual university setting but the whole relationship between an introvert and an extrovert thing made it stand out. I always say this, the reason we got bored of university themed Thai BLS last year was because it came with the same engineering and medical student storyline 💀

Anyway, this is an 8/10 and I am going to miss it a lot. Thank you Wetv🥺 I've found a new love in Park and Big🥺 I love Park a lot. Hes like the new baby girl in the industry 😂

Like a hug from a fluffy teddy bear

This was very cute and calming to watch, which I can appreciate. Laughing at that 18+ warning at the beginning, though.

Acting:

Solid performances all around. I’ve only every seen Park and Big in photos and videos from formal events so seeing them be nerdy and puppy-like was a bit wild at first. They did a great job with their roles. The supporting cast was all great as well. Well done.

Writing:

This was a fluffy little story without too much going on, but I think it was written well. The pacing was solid throughout. I think they could have had a better ending, but the ending fit as is. Loved the back and forth in the beginning and I think it was dragged out just enough so that it didn’t get frustrating. Very cute stuff all around here.

Chemistry/Romance/Kissing:

They had great chemistry with each other. They worked well together through every emotion their characters were going through. This was a cute little romance. We love a puppy boy x shy guy situation. The kissing was very well executed, love to see it.

Music/SFX:

Music was fine. SFX were fine as well.

If I need a comfort watch, I’ll probably circle back to this show in the future.

Now, for some highlights from my notes:

- A Jeff Satur ad before each episode? Please and thank you very muchhh
- I’ve only ever seen Park red carpet ready, it’s wild seeing him as a little nerd
- That is not a suitable tank for that turtle
- Green flags everywhere
- Bro is more than introverted
- These dudes are assholes, let a bitch talk to their turtle
- The little windchime and the way God comes when it chimes is so precious
- Everybody boo Jane BOOOO
- Baby needs some therapy and anxiety meds fr
- I feel like the devil on his shoulder is more of an angel sometimes
- Is that… COMMUNICATION??? A rare sight to behold
- Mom needs to chill tf out
- Not the ‘how to have sex carefully in a tent’ article lmao
- AHHH he saw that’s so embarrassing rip
- Congrats on the sex, ya’ll
- Baby asked for no lies but then he lies by omission rude
- Baby needs to communicate like why are we doing this
- Not the sexual safety interrogation from bestie
- Mom needs some serious therapy
- Lmao @ that 18+ rating
- Cuteee so softtt

Am I tripping or is all the negative reviews from extroverts !!!

One of the few series to realisticlly portray an extremely introvert character with social anxiety disordor.
I know it's not everyone's cup of tea, but that's just how it is in real life, I see all those hating on Diew exactly like the character Jane in the series, maybe take a step back and try to understand that he's not dull or boring it's just that he's not with the right people he vibes with ... introverts like to be calm and alone, but they can be chaotic with the person they love and show their true colors (and that's the whole point).
Personally the drama was cute, I love the slowburn and the chemistery between the main leads also how it focus mainly on their story, although it gave more importance to Diew's background over God's, other than that it's really worth it.

JUSTICE FOR INTROVERTS !!

Adorable

They have such a cute dynamic where they love and respect each other.
Even though they are very different, they always make room for eachs differences and needs.

The support couples felt more like filler than an actual story line. They still had a cute relationship, but I would've liked it to have been built out a bit more.

It isn't extraordinary or anything, just your run-of-the-mill thai bl, but a good one at that.

If you are looking for some cozy cute romance this is the perfect show for you.

Soft hearts, green energy ??

It was such a soft, fluff-filled drama—green forests everywhere (major green flag 🌿), lots of sweet moments, healthy communication, and genuine love. I liked how they kept the story simple and didn’t try to overcomplicate anything. The plot was nice, the acting felt natural, and the OSTs fit the vibe perfectly. ✨

If you want something cozy, green, and completely free of toxicity… just go for it. 💛🌿

Cute, simple and fun

That's pretty much it though but it had me invested.

There truly isn't much to say because essentially the story is about a green flag introvert and a green flag extrovert falling in love with each other. The only real red flags are seemingly connected to their “introverted/extroverted” behaviours and tendencies, but take even that with a grain of salt, it's not all there is to those certain scenes.

They solved all misunderstandings pretty quickly, there was a sort of gradual and steady progression to their relationship every episode, and both the leads had quite astounding character development. It was nice. Yeah. It's all complimentary but I can't exactly rave about their relationship either, it was nice and a bit more nice.

The second couple though, had more drama and oomph to their relationship, and with their very limited screentime and extreme chemistry, I was way more invested in their up and down. Yes, yes, I loved the drama that came with their friends to lovers arc, but it managed to create a good balance between the extensive cuteness and slowness of the lead couple.

The only complaints I have are about little things, really nitpicking if I think about it, like the angel/devil stuff (made no sense), the thing with the ex, and why Khun Shy could never get out of his apartment! Get the turtle a lead role please! I could practically feel the desperation to escape that fish tank in every scene he was in.

Honestly, this was a perfectly decent watch, for when you're in the mood for minimal drama, a lot of cute moments and a little golden retriever of a male lead.

Simple & sweet, worth the watch

This is my first review i have left for a drama, and its mostly because i feel like this show deserves a much higher rating. if you're the kind of person who reads reviews before shows, i would honestly take the low ratings with a grain of salt, ESPECIALLY the ones where they're taking jabs at Diew's actors looks. yall can not like a show & be respectful. i've seen worse shows get higher ratings; shows filled with awful tropes, terrible miscommunication, and subpar acting. but this show was cute, and sweet, and it had some really heartfelt moments that made u empathize with the characters and even relate to some of their choices.

although the show has framed the characters with "personality types", i feel like there's more nuance to them than that. dont get me wrong, i dont think this show is as deep as something like the 8th sense, but there's definitely more to it than just two boys who have different personalities falling in love. its obvious from the start the Diew isnt just an "introvert", but someone with anxiety and self-esteem issues. he keeps to himself and doesnt like to interact with people much, which as someone with anxiety is very relatable. and God isnt just a popular boy with a pretty face, he has a good head on his shoulders and a pretty impressive sense of emotional intelligence, compared to most male leads in BL dramas. they also both have their own issues they need to fix as the show goes on, but its done in a pretty realistic way and the show is filled with sweet moments.

*warning, this is where some major spoilers will come in*

the miscommunication that only happens towards the end is pretty reasonable considering that God already knows who Pee is, and is giving Diew multiple opportunities to explain himself, but because Diew was so heavily affected by him and Pee's past relationship, it's also understandable why he wouldn't wanna share that part of his past with God. was it a good decision? no! did i understand why Diew made that decision anyway? absolutely!! he had been treated poorly and pitied by someone who he thought he could confide in, and didnt want it to happen again. in Diew's struggle to trust God completely and to also trust himself, he ends up causing conflict that gets resolved pretty quickly in a believable way! best of all, no one says anything to the other that would break apart entire families, let alone two young men in a brand new relationship, unlike some people (looking at you Mark & Vee). they actually TALK to each other and explain their feelings and perspectives, and they make up! God understands that he even if he's doing it out of love, he cant coddle Diew, & Diew understands that he needs to trust God, & himself, more.

there are still some cringey moments sprinkled in, but its a thai BL, when isnt there cringe? fork found in kitchen ya know? so if your biggest complaint is cringe, maybe thai BL's arent for you LOL. the NC scenes are romantic and tastefully done, without taking the attention away from the main tone of the story, and over all, this show was great! especially for those of us who just want to see queer love portrayed in a nontoxic way. its a cute, simple, & sweet show that is just filled with heartwarming moments.

Nice watch

It's a very nice story. They have a lot of chemistry, their kisses were so good, soft and natural 10/10. The side couples were cute too. I wish we could see a little more of the third couple, Game and the vocalist guy. Game is so cute. Everyone's smiles' were sooo pretty, it was like they only casted people if they had pretty smiles. Also! Diew's actor did such a good job. I was very impressed with him.

There were some things that bothered me though. First was how they presented introversion as this "condition" almost like neurodivergence. Being an introvert is nothing like that, maybe Diew had some other psychological disadvantages. His mom and people around him were constantly trying to "fix" him, and it felt so strange to me that all that was just because he is an introvert. In contrast, we can see that his friend Game is also an introvert, and everything is normal for him. I think Diew definitely has some undiagnosed stuff. Or maybe it's a cultural difference, idk..
The other thing that bothered me was the tortoise, omg. That container was so so small for it. You want me to believe that this tortoise was everything to him, like a best friend, but, he couldn't even give it a proper container. Every time that poor thing appeared i could only feel uneasy.
Third and final thing, but a lot less serious, was the fact that we learned everything we could possibly know about Diew's family, but there was absolutely nothing about God's family or personal life outside university and dating. Wasn't he supposed to be a main character too? And this problem felt specially evident when they had that fight about Diew not opening up to him and not telling him about his family. What about YOUR family, huh??
