Side Ep with the "villain" point of view: totally dispensable and less interesting than main series
I'm currently enjoying so much my watch of the taiwanese BL series "Kiseki: Dear to Me" that I was compelled to watch this side episode of 20 minutes centred on the story of Zhang Teng. He is the weakest part of the origin drama, so I was hoping that this special episode would allow some development and nuance regarding this character and his "villain" arc.Unfortunately, this special episode did not exactly meet my expectations...It is totally dispensable and it did not make me be more convinced by the character of Zhang Teng. I kept also being unconvinced by the performance of the actor playing that part. He is for me the weakest point of the cast but I must admit that the script and filmmaking are particularly cheesy when relating to him and that the issue might be more relating to storytelling than to the acting.
I would recommend this to people that like the main series. It is totally dispensable and you will not miss anything by skipping this. But still, if you are finding yourself wanting more from those characters and their universe, it is a relatively satisfaying watch (despite the repetitive aspect of of some scenes). To be noted, this side episode should be watched after viewing episode 8 of the origin series.

for people saying that we didn't need this or this was unnecessary you are wrong. when i was watching kiseki:dear to me something always half. the whole time i was screaming go to your boyfriends to zhang and fan zu. when zhang said "baby i love you" i was like stfu juan is your boyfriend. as I have already seen a series of wayne and huang i just don't understand why one of them has to die in the end like whyyyyyy. and Zhang gave a nice nickname to ai di " little red riding hood" overall it was worth itWas this review helpful to you?
Unnecessary
I don't think this special episode was actually needed. It doesn't really add to the plot. And the scene or two that are important as background information could have easily been added into the main series. It does eleborate slightly on what Zhang Teng was that upset by Fan Ze Rui being the one that has joined his enemy, but I don't think it really excuses his behavior. Or explains his feelings and why is he this attached to Fan Ze Rui while it appears that two haven't been in contact for very long. The other things were very predictable and not really surprising. Was this review helpful to you?

The point of this was?
Okay, this little side story wasn't even needed. I figured out why Zheng Teng was so but hurt about Rui helping Chen Yi in the actual show, I didn't need a 20 minute short confirming it for me.The actor who plays Zheng Teng wasn't very good in my opinion. Even in the series he wasn't very good.
