High budget production with a sub-Borderline story line
Before the release of the drama, the trailer was on point, captured most of the drama's essence has a intriguing bad boy-good girl couple with a romance that tested the boundaries of brother-sister relationship vs man-woman.However when the drama was released I realised the plot was not really what I expected, it focused more on the leads chemistry scenes, there was no solid foundation to build up their relationship, no deep reasoning for them to fall in love, no character developement or development to their relatioship. It feels like their romance happened just because its the plot and bam they just indulged in each other's lust. Once they got together there were so many lovey-dovey scenes and little storyline between the two. It feels like each time they got together was just to kiss or hug, even one kiss scene lined up after another in a different place, and then the next scene you see Mumu suddenly dancing to some song at some festival and Jin Zhao sitting with some girl with his hands over the randoms girl's shoulders. The scenes are literally so disconnected and all over the place. albeit being very well shot with the pretty colours in the background.
Perhaps because I've only watch up to ep 16, which is already about half way into the drama, I feel the storyline up to this point is quite non-existent, just Mumu going to find Jin Zhao, them reuniting, Mumu settling down in Thailand meanwhile guessing what Jin Zhao is up to, which up to this point there isn't much revealed as well. I don't know what these 16 episodes have contributed to the whole story, it feels like it could be condensed into just 6-8 episodes instead.
The scenes where Mumu cried were unconvincing as well, in my opinion the story is not troubling enough to resonate with a cry. I get that they got separated at their childhood but is this reason alone enough to cause such a yearning for each other? Perhaps the plot could thicken to add more tension in their family relationships like Mumu having a bad relationship with her mom and step father, how they would trouble her in other ways and her only good memory was when she had her brother around.
Also, the whole set up feels very staged, especially their clothes, like who goes to school wearing which pretty cute short skirts and dresses and a tiny little bag? And why is Jin Zhao always sweating?
Although I love the whole production's music, cinematography, actors and acting, It feels like a good production go to waste because of the story line. While watching this drama I felt a similar vibe to another drama "Forbidden Flower' which carried the same type of tension and chemistry between the leads, also a bad boy-young girl relationship, lots of lust, and just a bam, romance without any deep plot or development story. I checked and indeed they were written by the same screenwritter T.T

Selamat Memasuki Era Ter Mumu - mumu juga Ter Chao - chao 🤗Was this review helpful to you?

Just speaking facts
I don't want it to end at all omggg! I've never been this addicted to a drama before; I would usually wait until it's fully uploaded to the end before starting to watch, but this drama was an exception. I wait every day, checking the clock to see whether it's 6pm yet. This drama is indeed a masterpiece; it felt as if I were growing up with the characters. I watched them grow up, fall in love, break up, reconcile, and become married. The directors, the production team, and the actors, especially He Yu and Yu Shuxin, did a fantastic job in bringing Jin Zhao and Jiang Mu to life. As a novel reader, this drama didn't disappoint me at all; the cinematography was astonishing. They created a masterpiece by keeping all the important elements that existed in the novel. The amount of script that they kept the same without changing was very good; they followed every single thing in the novel. I thought that was so respectful of them. Esther's acting improved a lot; I keep on seeing the better version of her whenever I watch her new dramas. Especially the differences in the character Jiang Mu; the character development was significant, and she delivered it so well. As for He Yu, he shines so bright through the character Jin Zhao. It feels as if he was born for this character; he delivered it so naturally. I used to see him act in the Legend of Shen Li, and at that time I only thought that he was one good-looking man. I really didn't expect his acting to be this excellent. He specializes in conveying his feelings through his eyes; it's like he became one with the character. It was really nice to see. Speed and Love will always hold a special place in my heart; it will always be remembered as the first drama I looked forward to every day.Was this review helpful to you?

Top 1 chinese drama
From the beginning I watched this drama, I was always fascinated by Yu Shu Xin and Heyu's acting. The cinematography is very beautiful. The storyline is very well organized and easy to understand. Anyone who watches this drama will definitely like it. Yu Shu Xin's acting skills are never in doubt, she is very good at playing Jiangmu. Jiangmu is a beautiful and cheerful girl. She is very sincere and loyal to his lover. The power of love between Jiangmu and Jinzhao is very equal. Yu Shu Xin is my reason to watch this drama. Overall, I am satisfied watching the drama from beginning to end. The chemistry between Yu Shu Xin and Heyu is number 1. Don't hesitate to watch the drama Speed and Love. I guarantee you will be addicted and will not be able to forget it. Super highly recommended. ThanksWas this review helpful to you?

ABSOLUTELY PERFECT !!! LIKE ALWAYS WITH THIS SCRIPTWRITER WOMAN !
I'd been eagerly awaiting this for a year and a half, and I can say without hesitation: I wasn't disappointed at all. From the very beginning, the world resonated deeply with me, and the screenwriter—as those who've seen my video already know—is one of my favorites, especially for her previous moving dramas (Forbidden Flower, among others). Once again, she managed to transport me through a fully realized and intense romance, set against the backdrop of a world of motor racing. Needless to say, it gave me an irresistible urge to discover the novelization.
The cinematography in Thailand was simply exceptional, and not just for its scenery: several scenes and shot choices gave the drama a real distinctive character, reinforcing its power and emotional impact.
Esther Yu was incredible! While I was sometimes skeptical about her behavior in the first few episodes, I truly saw an evolution and maturity as the episodes progressed, especially in the second half. (It reminded me of the girl's character development in HIDDEN LOVE). She was enterprising, brilliant, and determined, and her acting was spot-on and moving (her tears got to me more than once!).
He Yu, one of my favorite actors for the past few years, despite masterpieces like Dashing Youth and others, it's really SPEED AND LOVE that has given him true international exposure! I'm so proud of him. His character was absolutely perfect! I could totally have written a male lead like that! Sentimental and rebellious at the same time, but definitely protective. A man with a capital M.
I loved the credibility with which he portrayed this reckless driver, before completely reversing the dynamic in the second half of the drama. We then discover a new man, sporting a more mature look, driven by real projects, and committed to a particularly convincing physical and mental rehabilitation. He deeply touched me with his looks, his gestures, his attentiveness… to the point of moving me far beyond what I could have imagined.
Between breathtaking shots and landscapes, an intense romance punctuated by numerous kissing scenes, actors delivering their lines with great emotional precision, and a truly compelling story—no pun intended—I can only call it a real gem, fully living up to my expectations.
I think the entire cast poured a tremendous amount of energy into their performances, and I particularly enjoyed seeing Mike Angelo again, who I found very comfortable despite his relatively limited screen time. Each actor clearly stepped outside their comfort zone to make this story both believable and addictive.
I thoroughly enjoyed watching this drama, and I sincerely hope you, too, had a wonderful time watching it.
10/10 !

Jin zhao took a piece of my heart
After a long time, I didn’t just watch this drama — I truly lived with it. Even though its run was short, every single day I woke up feeling excited and emotionally attached, counting the hours until the next episode. He Yu was absolutely outstanding. His performance relied heavily on his eyes, and that’s where the magic was. Every glance carried so much emotion that my heart genuinely felt like it was about to jump out of my chest. His silent expressions spoke louder than words.
The OSTs were beautiful and perfectly matched the atmosphere of the drama, making every emotional moment hit even harder. Sadly, a significant portion of the drama was cut, and many romantic scenes never made it to the final version. After waiting for so long, that was truly heartbreaking.
The chemistry between He Yu and Esther was incredible. Every one of He Yu’s styles suited him perfectly — he has a natural charm and elegance. His voice deserves special mention; it has a soft, gentle tone that makes even simple lines feel intimate and warm.
The racing and fighting scenes were intense, dynamic, and genuinely exciting. This is the kind of drama I know I’ll rewatch multiple times.
That said, the editing wasn’t perfect. Some transitions felt rushed, and certain cuts broke the emotional flow of the story.
The kiss scenes were bold, passionate, and creatively done. They felt fresh and different, and I truly appreciated how daring the drama was in portraying intimacy.
I completely fell for He Yu, and I sincerely hope he has a bright future ahead and continues to take on even better roles. This drama made me laugh, cry, and feel deeply. Their love story doesn’t end here — it lives on beyond the screen.
Thank you to Jin Zhao and Mu Mu for teaching me what love truly means — patience, sacrifice, and quiet devotion. Jin Zhao was willing to endure everything alone for the sake of love, and every time I watched him, my heart ached because of how gentle, selfless, and kind he was.
In the end, I already miss this beautiful drama so much. It also made me miss my own teenage years, which now feel like they passed far too quickly. This story was full of ups and downs, and it allowed me to experience a wide range of emotions. For that, I’m truly grateful.

The Most Perfect Modern Drama I've Ever Watched
In 10 years this is the most perfect and on point modern romance drama I have ever seen. It's like a dream .The story is both well written and has sensitivity and depth in how it addresses the characters' struggles, pasts, loves and sacrifices. Without missing or taking away, everything was on point, the romance, the anguish, the action and much more.
Speed and Love was magical, exciting and nostalgic from the first episode. This perceptible magic in the story, characters and cinematography is the result of a set of well-executed factors within the drama that produced this result that leaves a mark inside.
●♡● Plot:
Absolutely charming, nostalgic, exciting, and full of adrenaline. The story tells of the precious friendship between Jiang Mu and Jin Zhao from childhood until their sad separation, the time spent drifting apart in longing, and finally their reunion.
Jiang Mu's father, seeing that his best friend had been the victim of a tragic accident that left his son behind, took him into his home. Thus, Jin Zhao and Jiang Mu grew up with a beautiful friendship in which Zhao Zhao (ML) always took good care of Mu Mu (FL), driven by his sense of duty towards her, who was born premature and fragile. After Mu Mu's parents divorced, her father took Zhao Zhao to Taiwan, and since then, years passed without contact until Jiang Mu decided to reconnect.
From then on, Mu Mu and Zhao Zhao's lives intertwine again, and in the same world, they face the pains of the past and present, as well as the challenge of living their love for each other through many uncertainties, adversities, and hopes.
It is about not giving up on the person you love, it is about true love that is tangible and can be painful, requiring sacrifice, patience, forgiveness, perseverance, and a sincere desire for the other's well-being.
●♡● Jin Zhao (He Yu):
This character was simply beautiful to behold, his love was pure and tangible through his incredibly thoughtful actions and his care for Jiang Mu. He truly wanted what was best for her, to the point of making absolute sacrifices, as he did in her worst moment, preserving her from failing to realize her potential and dreams, allowing her to develop so that she could make her choice to remain of her own free will in a position of power and not obligation. The pain he felt from his total lack of faith in himself had grown from hearing from Jiang Mu's mother that he was bad luck for them and a burden. He lived a kind of sacrificial love, and as the story developed, Zhao Zhao was finally able to deservedly surrender to his love for Jiang Mu and let her heal his wounds, having learned not to walk the road alone but with her by his side.
Furthermore, He Yu's performance completely took over my mind! Simply mesmerizing in his smallest expressions, he masterfully conveyed Zhao Zhao's feelings. He creates incredible tension before speaking and through his glances. I need at least 30 more dramas starring him.
●♡● Jiang Mu (Esther Yu):
Jiang Mu has been a woman of unwavering perseverance from the beginning, and thanks to her, their relationship can finally come to fruition, with her herself being that hope that never fades. It was very exciting to see how she always overcame the distance Jin Zhao put between them, stemming from his fear of showing her and himself how broken he was inside. Mu Mu's journey of development and maturation was also very satisfying! I love how she cornered Jin Zhao!
I'm liking Esther Yu more and more! The first time I saw her, I found her strange and even disliked her girly and cute performance, but then I saw her different sides, understood her charisma, and witnessed her deepening and evolution. I just love her!
●♡● Romance:
The chemistry that Esther Yu and He Yu built in their performances was breathtaking. You can feel the tension in their gazes and scenes through the screen, it's so strong that you hold your breath anxiously waiting to see what will happen next, it gives you butterflies in your stomach, it's very exciting. Their romance seems like a dream, I simply lost my mind with their performance. This couple ruined all the others.
●♡● Cinematography:
The cinematography is among the most beautiful I have ever seen, with a mix of colors, angles, and lights, creating a nostalgic and magical summer atmosphere in the streets of Taiwan, which are half vintage and half modern, reminiscent of a coastal city. The play of colored lights is dazzling and makes it seem like a dream; it is idyllic. It reminded me of “The Forbidden Flower,” and I was really looking for a drama that conveyed that same feeling. The experience that the cinematography provides is dreamlike and intoxicating.
●♡● OST:
The OST blended perfectly with the scenes, contributing greatly, especially the song “Away” by R.E.D Zhou Luoxi (Alyce). Every time this song played in the scenes, my heart would start racing.
Speed and Love ruined me FOREVER because now I'll compare everything to it. I highly recommend it!
Edit: I discovered why the drama reminds me of "The Forbidden Flower", it's because they are both by the same screenwriter and director, Zhao Xiao Lei!

Every Frame Feels Like a Quiet Blessing
The chemistry between the hero and heroine is truly on point. The cinematography is calm and soothing, making every frame feel like a sweet treat for the eyes. Lightning- without saying a single word, quietly stole a part of the show with his presence. One thing that really deserves appreciation is the overall casting and wardrobe design; the costumes were beautifully curated, especially Jin Zhao’s outfits, which were absolutely marvellous. Now, coming to the most important part—acting. Brandy completely nailed his role. His talent, accent, body language—everything felt natural and effortless, never forced. As for Jiang Mu, my opinion slightly differs. She is undoubtedly talented and beautiful, but in some scenes, it felt like she was trying too hard. Acting should feel invisible. When the audience becomes aware of the performance itself, the emotional connection starts to break. In certain moments, her portrayal leaned a bit too childish, where a more mature approach would have suited the scene better. That said, she has great potential, and I genuinely hope she overcomes this because she is worth it.
Last but not least, this drama was an intense roller-coaster of a dopamine shower. Overall, I enjoyed it a lot.

chemistry
first although I feel like the storyline is a little weird in real life I must say this drama was amazing. now that I have finished watching it. I actually feel like I don’t know what to do with my life anymore. the acting and the chemistry between the leads was amazing. I found myself actually repeating some of the scenes before I had finished watching the whole drama. that’s how good I felt it was. as far as we watching it, I would definitely rewatch as I mean I’ve already been re-watching itWas this review helpful to you?
