Best wuxia drama of all time
This was such a unique storyline with a strong female lead (physically and mentally strong) that could stand on her own without the male lead. The chemistry between the FML & ML is amazing. I am so sad it ended and will rewatch it soon. Zhang Linghe delivered a great performance in this drama. My first time watching Tian Xiwei and she amazing! Need to watch more of her dramas. SPEECHLESS
I'm absolutely in shock. Dare I say this is the best Cdrama of the year???. I have watched 100s of cdrama throughout the years starting from 2019 and this is easily in my top 5. I will definitely be rewatching it a million times. Also beware guys Zhang Linghe's face card is so lethal that I forgot to focus on the story a couple of times. All the actors are absolutely gorgeous and Tian Xiewei really did deliver that strong female general role perfectly. Also in absolute love with the second lead couple. omg the tension between the two leads are sooo hot i swear i was squeaking entire scene lmao i love it so much the story and all the leads are so beautiful! I think everyone was like too hot lol even the villains. I like the ending too it's not too rush or anything. This drama truely lived up to the hype, I've watch each episode atleast once, since writing this review1. This might be the best Cdrama ZHL has ever been apart of & probably TXW
I've become quite familiar with ZHL work over the past couple of years with TBT, TPR, SOFK & much more and he has improved alot and is able to capture so much in a shot. I wouldn't hesitate to say that this may be his best work yet, and I'm excited to see what comes next, especially if he continue to improve. TXW im less familar with her work as I have complete a piece from start to finish before, but this really made me fall for her HARD! Her facial expressions top notch, her body movement and line is beautifal in every shot and she brings FCY to life.
2. Thank you to the staff, director and producers
They truely brought this to life. It's hard to a production to continuesly carry a show to the end at such quality and I wouldn't say a second was waste, for the world building, charater development and the pschological elements they were able to bring out so beautifully. This made wish we could extend the number of episodes again or have some more canon episodes, but I am satified with what I got. I'm going to miss these charaters, but they definately made this a series you can rewatch endlessly.
3. Supporting leads really carried their storylines throughly
Can i just say how goregous everyone was and how I felt how deep each of the charaters archs went and how every shot with the supporting roles were so well done. It felt easy to understand each charater and if it wasn't atleast it made you feel some type of way which I find hard in Cdramas at this caliber.

They cut alot of scenes which I had scene in behind the scenes shots by fans and the story in which I went through with, but I get there were reason for that. But I can't help but miss those moments and it would help fill some small gaps left in the story. But it doesn't impact the overall story so it made sense for time or other reasons *cough cough*. And finally I think towards the end of most C dramas they tend to be weaker due to various reason while it stay good, it could have had some minor improvements which would make the last main arch more complete. This could also be due to time limitations but I just can't help it.
If anything you should take away from this is that is it a top tier historical C drama, no matter what

The Most Beautiful Drama Ever "Pursuit of Jade"
This drama has been lifechanging and I mean it.I finished this drama ago but was suffering from post-drama depression that I never wrote this review. It was that good, I literally couldn't watch anything else for days.
Lets start off with the Actors/Characters, Fan Changyu is hands down one of my favorite cdrama characters ever. Shes strong, resilient, kind, stands up for herself, and is independent. She doesn't need a man to do what she wants, and the fact that Xie Zheng respects that and only wants to be her partner makes the dynamic SO GOOD. I was not really skeptical of Tian Xiwei playing Fan Changyu because she played a somewhat similar character in Moonlit Reunion and rocked the girl boss vibe. Zhang Linghe I knew would absolutely play this role well, as it fits him so well. Their chemistry was also blazing, both of them can create chemistry with trees at this point especially ZLH. As for side characters, first special shout out to Lin Muran because He playing Su Yuanqing SO SO well. For a rising actor he played the psychopath to perfection. I'm deeply awaiting his new works now. Kong Xueer playing Qian Qian also fits so well, I really loved the second couple Qi Min and Qian Qian had a really toxic love but it fit so good with the drama. Every single couple in this drama was done well. I also love that there was not really any love rivals, no extra drama. As for family dynamic, I loved the fact that Fan Changyu turned the bandits into the xie brothers. She turned them into good guys and they became like brothers after. They were all so fun together.
Next Cinematography, because WOW it was absolutely beautiful. From the start to the end the vibe was done perfect, and the visuals were absolutely gorgeous. Speaking of visuals, can we talk about how every single actor in this drama is absolutely beautiful, Tian Xiwei and Zhang Linghe also looked extra good here, I can see why they are trending on fire in China right now. Plot wise, there definitely was a few plot holes here and there but their really not that obvious and didn't affect the drama at all, so i'd say this was done well. Last but not least the music, maybe its just me but the intro music before every episode fits so well with the drama, it goes from the city to all the battle which is representing Xie Zheng because hes born in this world of battle and death. Then it transfers to more hopeful music which represents Fan Changyu coming into his life, blooming like a flower. Maybe I'm just talking nonsense at this point, but in my opinion it represents the drama so well. Anyways, at the end of the day this drama is 100% worth watching. The high MDL rating and all the hype its getting everywhere is 1000% deserved.

The Best Drama of 2026 - Pursuit of Jade
This drama features some of the finest cinematography I’ve seen. From the compelling plot and the chemistry between the leads to the subtle details in the side characters and the emotional bonds they share. Everything feels thoughtfully crafted. It powerfully portrays the brutal reality of war from the perspective of ordinary people, while also delivering an incredible journey of growth for the main characters. I felt like i was living in Great Yin....Every aspect of this drama is truly masterful. If you’re hesitating, just give it a try, you won’t be disappointed. Watching it over the past month while it aired has been an unforgettable experience.

I believe as judging as an individual drama.... This drama is an EPIC..... THE BEST HISTORICAL DRAMA WITH THE BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY I HAVE EVER WATCHED..... The director was absolutely masterclass with his work
Imma gonna watch it again....
ANYONE HESITATING TO WATCH.... JUST GO FOR IT.... YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED.....

What a beautiful drama, everything almost perfect
This is a real gem.Everything in this drama is enjoyable.
We are completely hacked by the story. Both the ML and FL are so handsome and have good acting. they perfectly fit to their rôle and the chemistry is insane. The tension between the 2, their bond is so beautiful to watch.
We are hooked by their fate and desperately wait to see them together. Even the vilain is enjoyable. We are not disturbed by toxic relationships even if some bullying are spread, these are treated in sane way.
Urging to watch the continuation…

strong start but failed to become wholesome
i must say this was one of the most overhyped dramas of this year. i wont deny the starting was very good, but the writers probably forgot to draw closure or probably writers were changed in middle point.otherwise, i don't know how they went back to cliché cdramas.
they forgot the truth behind 17 years ago, and the punishment of major criminals, but they had to make a great villain of qi min.
making a pitiful couple is a common. the character of qi min could have had a proper development. but no! the show was for fan service i guess

I admit I had very high expectations for this drama, especially because it was heavily promoted and received a lot of praise. I decided to wait until it had finished airing before watching it, and honestly, I think that was the right choice, because otherwise I probably would not have continued it.The story itself is not bad, but unfortunately there are several aspects that simply do not work very well. First of all, I really enjoyed the beginning of the drama, especially the part set in the village of Li’an. The main couple truly shines there, although, in forty episodes, the amount of time they actually spend together without arguing is surprisingly limited.
Chang Yu is a very likable character, but as the story progresses, he becomes a bit too stereotypical and less believable. As for Xie Zheng, I have to admit that I did not enjoy his character very much. At certain moments, his behavior was so frustrating that I almost wanted to slap him. I also would have liked to see more fight scenes, particularly considering that he is supposed to be a marquis and a general.
On the other hand, the villains are definitely the highlight of the drama. They are extremely well written and much more interesting from a character-development perspective.
The secondary couple, Qi Min and Director Yu, works far better than the main couple, even though Director Yu is an enormous red flag. Their relationship simply feels more natural and engaging.
Overall, I would still recommend this drama to people who enjoy the genre or who are fans of the actors. It is light, entertaining, and easy to watch, but in my opinion it is far from the “masterpiece” that so many people claim it to be.

Overhyped
Was really hoping I would love this. I did actually like the first arc of the story, but it got boring pretty fast. The politics were very superficial. We know what they're doing but we don't know a lot of the whys and what's going on behind the scenes so there is no emotional value to it. The plot itself was just okay. I feel like everything is dragged out for so long. I liked the romance decently, especially the start of it, but again, it just got boring quick. It's sloowww.
