Superior
The chemistry - 🔥🔥🔥The story/cases - great. No choppy editing. Easy to follow
The music/ost/bgm - nicely put with each scene.
I guess there is still hope for a mini drama. And this is one example where a 20min drama might be better than usual 40min drama.
Go watch it guys.. you won't regret it one bit.
Can we have a Second Season? 🥹

It's Surprisingly Good
For 20 minutes each day, you get entertained with a nice storyline. This series could have been made into the regular 45-minute drama to make each episode even more suspenseful. The actors' acting are just right, and they seem to have good chemistry together. Hope the next episodes won't ruin the momentum and deliver a happy ending please. Was this review helpful to you?
Fun Casts and Interesting Story
Chemistry between the cast is superb. To be honest I was hesitating to watch because I don't really like watching drama, I was a fan of Zilu from My Calorie Boy and saw a short clip of this drama. Found out his character is almost the same in MCB-- sunshine and funny guy, so I decided to give it a chance and yup I was hooked. Both main actors facial expression deserved a praise. And love the lowkey romantic bromance vibe between main actors.Hope for a season 2 as soon as possible!

Bromance of The Year - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
I really really really need Season 2 so badly. The ending is the beginning of the end! It's killing me softly not knowing what happen to the Yuan Hong! 😭The bromance scenes are top kisses. The eyes lingering and glaring, the small touches and cares. It gave me the Killer and Healer vibe, BL without kisses. I just figured out that the lady director of the drama was a former director of Revenged Loved BL drama. 🥰

Setting the standard for mid-length drama series
Tldr;Very much worth a watch. Stronger storytelling than most big-name big budget full-length C-dramas being released in summer 2026
Pros:
- Clear plot. Backgrounds and motivations of each main character were well established. Each case had a logical antagonist and rounded resolution
- Good pacing and editing. The directing/writing/editing team clearly thought out what they wanted each episode to tell
- Good chemistry and dynamic between the main characters. From some of the comments it sounds like this was positioned to be slightly BL? Maybe it was edited out, but regardless I enjoyed the bromance. It felt natural and earned
- Nuanced, insofar as C-dramas can be when it comes to content set in this era. In this drama, they do honor historic facts (aggressive and harmful imperialism by foreign countries against China in the Republic Era) without falling into the trap of making every foreign character a goofy caricature, and avoiding the almost propaganda-y tone that turns many international audiences away
Cons - mostly because of the last arc:
- Rushed ending with the Big Bad - I had to dock off points, but not too much, since this is a problem that is endemic to most C-dramas
- I do find the main actors very charming but Kido Ma fell kinda fall flat with the emotional scenes in the last arc (more sad for me since his looks are very much my type)

A Masterclass in Crime, Suspense and Bromance That Had Me Hooked
Sometimes a 20 minute episode can be far more powerful than an hour long one, and Cases Between Us proves exactly that.Set during China's Republican era, the story follows Zhao Shao Shang, a young man with a deep appreciation for traditional culture, who unexpectedly teams up with the talented police officer Yuan Hong. Coming from completely different worlds, the two constantly bicker and clash, but as they investigate a series of mysterious murder cases, they slowly develop an unbreakable partnership. With political unrest growing around them, every investigation pushes them closer to dangerous truths while testing their courage, loyalty, and sense of justice.
The bromance between the two male leads, Zilu as Zhao Shao Shang and Si Chao as Yuan Hong, is absolutely perfect. Their chemistry feels natural, their banter is entertaining, and their contrasting personalities make every scene together enjoyable. They are true polar opposites, but that's exactly what makes their teamwork so satisfying to watch.
I love crime, detective, murder mystery, and investigation dramas, and this series delivers everything I look for. Every episode is thrilling, suspenseful, and keeps the tension high from beginning to end. The storytelling is well paced, the mysteries are engaging, the acting is excellent, and the soundtrack adds even more intensity to every investigation. Chinese dramas have a way of pulling you into their world, and this one had me hooked from the very first episode.
I'm currently 11 episodes in with 25 more to go, and so far this is easily one of my favourite dramas of the year. If the remaining episodes maintain this quality, I can already see this becoming one of my favourite bromance crime dramas ever.

i give it 9.5 points only because it ended CRIES
First of all the actors, oh my god they were all so amazing the characters they all became my family. The story, both the big picture and the cases were amazing i cried in most of them.
Directing, I loved it especially. they did amazing with the short episodes it was so enjoyable to watch, it was so easy and the atmosphere, the outfits, all were beatiful.
Music, this is how you know this is not just a bromance but they LOVE each other the amount of soft cozy bgms in this i love it so much.
Overall, it was just like a cozy night breeze of a series. I enjoyed every moment of it. I WANT MORE OF IT.
P.S FOR THE FINALE
It is an open ending but it's personally not a problem for me, it was still an amazing ride and I for sure rewatch it. again.
SO YES the final arc was rushed, it has an open ending, it only proves that they have so much to tell and i can only hope that they can have the resources for it. I would watch ten seasons of this.

** Finalizado!
