Calming
I was surprised that people gave this drama low score. For myself, the stories mostly dont really have twist on them but they feel like everyday's daily life around each characters. Soo it's really realistic. it's kinda slow paced drama with no hidden secret or climax and they really make the stories warm on each episode.
I think it's a great drama if we want a comforting drama after watching lots of dramas with twists, especially when we get busy with stuffs and wanna watch a lighthearted drama

Law and the City: No Charm, No Chemistry, No Case
The first two episodes were so unbearable to watch to the point that I almost dropped the drama. Continued only because of Lee Jong Suk and the hope it might improve (spoiler: it didn’t). The boredom was so intense I hit the skip button at least 15 times. After that, every episode felt like a filler episode. The cases? Bland to the bone. The story tried to juggle so many aspects at once that it ended up being messy and unfocused. With no clear direction and numerous aspects to address, it also creates a lack of time to create any depth for the story.
Honestly, I had high hopes from Lee Jong Suk to carry the drama with his acting but his character was so painfully flat. Instead of being a cold male lead that creates drama and tension due to their nature, especially towards the female lead, Lee Jong Suk's character was just an indifferent and nonchalant man who had no layers of personality to himself. His acting was not bad but just painfully mediocre and miles away from his energy in his previous hit dramas.
Also, chemistry between the leads? Non-existent. People call it slow-burn but all it was burning was my will to continuing to watch the drama because of how fast paced they had made the relationship that had no spark throughout. It's just something that had to be added to align with the romance tag. Mun Ga Young herself had no charm as a lawyer. Her acting and character just made me think she is not suited to take up lawyer characters because she had no presence in the drama. Just felt like a side character who had nothing much to tell.
The drama had food in every single episode 2 or 3 times. It felt as if food was the main character (honestly, had more charm than the acting.) To conclude, even if this drama was supposed to be of a wholesome slice of life genre, it did not appeal as so. It's a one-time watch only if you’re desperate and out of options and has nothing fresh to offer. Even the soundtrack failed to make an impression.
Watching Law and the City was like eating plain toast for 12 hours straight.

Law related, heartwarming slice of life
The story itself is realistic with no plot holes, it introduces a really cozy nostalgic feeling like the show Friends, where you get used to them having lunch together in Sochodong. It's a bit surprising they found eye candy main actors, when the show is actually has real substance. My only complaint is the really light romance, which is normally my preference

I will never understand why a drama like this is rated so low.. Yes 8 is low.. I am not saying the drama blew me away, but I was entertained and completely engrossed.. These are the kind of dramas that deserve 16 episodes.. No unnecessary drama, no love triangles.. Just friendship, love, personal growth and food.. Lots and lots of food.. Might even feel like one big ad for the Korean food industry..The story unfolds in an uneventful yet remarkable way.. With a screenplay that feels raw, personal and utterly engrossing.. It focuses on the mundane lives of five characters.. The drama lingers, never too quick and never draggy.. Some might find the lack of build up disappointing.. But the slice of life approach works wonders here.. Honestly, it reminded me of Hospital Playlist..
Everything about this drama feels authentic.. The characters, their relationships, the world they live in.. Nothing is forced or sloppily arranged.. It all just works so well that I couldn’t help but grow attached to them.. Rather than leaning on sappy dramatic moments and sentimentality, it focuses on developing its characters in a natural, unhurried way..
I loved all five of them, they were all great.. And their stories were just as good.. Mun Jeong and her husband?? I absolutely loved their story.. He is the perfect husband.. Chang Won and Sang Gi’s stories were good too, though I feel they didn’t have quite the same impact as the other three.. And Ju Hyeong and Hui Ji?? I adored their relationship.. They didn’t overdo it.. The romance was subtle, but that worked perfectly because I loved their interactions.. They weren’t forced into a relationship because of their past, it just felt natural..
Overall, it’s a really good drama.. It doesn’t rely on big, dramatic twists.. Yet it never once feels boring.. I could nitpick moments in the script where it skips over sensitive issues a bit too quickly, but I don’t want to.. I just wish it had 16 episodes.. I would have loved to spend more time with them..

When Growth, Friendship, and Love Feel Real: Why Law and the City Stands Out
This drama was handled with remarkable maturity, and its greatest strength was how beautifully every storyline came together by the end."Law and the City" follows five associate lawyers working in the same building but for different firms, balancing emotional struggles, family expectations, career ambitions, and enduring friendships. What made the series special was the way these characters consistently showed up for one another through every success and setback. Their bond felt authentic—exactly how genuine friendships should.
One aspect that seems widely underestimated is the relationship between Ahn Ju Hyeong and Kang Hui Ji. Their romance wasn't built on dramatic misunderstandings, constant tension, or high-stakes passion. Instead, it reflected how many adult relationships actually function. They understood each other deeply. They paid attention to the smallest details, expressing care through actions rather than grand declarations. They recognized when the other was struggling and gave each other the space and patience needed to work through personal challenges before offering support.
Kang Hui Ji was especially refreshing as a female lead. She was already independent and self-sufficient. She didn't need Ahn Ju Hyeong because the story demanded a romance; she wanted him because sharing her life with him made it richer than experiencing it alone. Likewise, Ahn Ju Hyeong's growth felt natural rather than forced. He was never devoid of empathy, but through observing Hui Ji's approach to both her work and her clients, he slowly rediscovered a part of himself that had been buried beneath nine years of professional routine.
Their second-chance love story was beautiful precisely because of its simplicity. Not every romance needs adrenaline, endless obstacles, or dramatic twists. Sometimes love is gentle, steady, and quietly transformative—and this drama understood that perfectly.
Cho Chang Won, Bae Mun Jeong, and Ha Sang Gi were equally delightful. Each received a thoughtfully developed character arc. Through the cases they handled, their beliefs about the world and themselves gradually evolved. Their dedication to their work was admirable, but what made their journeys meaningful was their realization that they wanted more from life. Watching them step beyond their comfort zones and pursue long-held dreams felt both realistic and inspiring.
Kim Hyeong Min was another standout character. Despite being the CEO and founder of a charitable foundation, she carried the regret of never becoming a lawyer. Her decision to bring the firms together under one roof and serve as their legal advisor stemmed from that unrealized dream. Her commitment to helping the weak, the poor, and the overlooked reflected genuine compassion. Yet even after achieving success, she eventually recognized that she still wanted to pursue the dream she had abandoned and chose to study law again. Her story was both inspiring and believable.
What I also appreciated was that the four bosses were treated as complete characters rather than being reduced to background figures. Even with the focus on the five associates, the drama gave the senior characters their own presence, personalities, and significance.
The recurring tradition of the five friends gathering for dinner—and the series ending with them sharing lunch as the "lunch and dinner crew"—was a simple but meaningful way to bring the story full circle.
Ultimately, *Law and the City* is a drama about growth: personal growth, professional growth, emotional growth, and the growth that comes from meaningful relationships. It doesn't rely on exaggerated drama or unrealistic romance. Instead, it tells grounded, relatable stories with warmth, sincerity, and maturity. For that reason alone, it stands out as one of the most realistic and thoughtfully written dramas in recent years.

Friends, good food, life problems with a romance on the side.
I honestly enjoyed the show. It showcased how it's never too late to make friends - even in adulthood. This story is about friendships, hardships and being there for each other even when your own life is a big mess. I watched it in autumn, and I'm glad I did, my heart is full thanks to this drama. The only saddening thing is that I wish we had more "main couple's" romance on the screen than it happening behind the viewer's back.

Law, Life & Late-Night Chaos — A Courtroom Drama That Plays It Safe
If you are looking for a light legal drama with a mix of workplace struggles, friendship, and slow emotional moments, Law and the City is a decent one-time watch. The series has a realistic city-life atmosphere and a calm storytelling style, but it often feels too predictable to leave a strong impact. The cast does a good job portraying exhausted lawyers trying to balance ambition and personal life, and some emotional scenes genuinely work well. However, the pacing becomes slow in the middle episodes, and several courtroom cases lack excitement or tension compared to stronger Korean legal dramas.
What keeps the drama watchable is its relatable office dynamics and grounded characters rather than thrilling plot twists. While it does not completely fail, it never fully reaches its potential either.
Overall, Law and the City is an average Korean drama — comforting at times, forgettable at others, but still suitable for viewers who enjoy slice-of-life legal stories without heavy intensity.

Unlike typical legal thrillers, the show shines through its grounded storytelling and heart—each character feels real and their friendships, anchored around casual, food-filled lunches, bring warmth and humor to the narrative .
While pacing is deliberately slow and deliberately calm, for fans of character-driven drama it’s a comforting and mature watch that delivers emotional nuance without melodrama . Audience reactions echo this sentiment: one viewer called it a "mature slow burn + slice of life," noting that the friendship dynamics feel deeply relatable , while others praised the thought-provoking moral dilemmas lawyers face, making each case feel personally meaningful .
In short: Law and the City is a well-acted, emotionally subtle legal drama that captures both professional pressures and the tender power of friendship—best enjoyed by those who appreciate realism and warmth over high-octane thrills.

“Can’t help but come by often.”
Finally, I have finished the drama. Well and it was a miss but it played well. It was one where I hanged on but no clippings caught me. I was blown away. But came back. Yes, I did enjoyed most of it and admit the flaws. This was a case where there were a a lot of evidences and witnesses but they were kind of too much and irrelevant. I liked the happy happy friendship vibes also the drop bit of romance. For the rating**7.8ish/10 but I’ll give an 8**
It is a rating which was pushed up at start of very last episode. I had my hopes down during the last quarter. It was just I was being pushed with so much of information, that I was stopping it at times. But, wrapping up something plays a lot to me. Even the dramas with bestest acts and writing fail to merge the lines at end. This drama really gave me a good insight at end. For my part of review, I’ll discuss the factors below,
> The end
It started with Seochodong and terminated to see you around there. I was captivated by this circle. The start had the lines emerge which looked coincident and together but as story progressed they went parallel. The Seochodong was the converging lens. “You’ll be comfortable here”, Mr. Ahn said. As, whatever and however excruciating it is. It’s home. It’s a reunion. Maybe a hug? The detach was just for something new. I am glad it wasn’t the drama where they just go like “here we go again” trope. But rather I saw a new line at end of circle. There were changes. Which were necessary to move on. Cause to move on, motions shall be possessed.
> The Friendship
The drama showcased friendship in a more natural and engaging way. There were many moments where I thought, “Ah, I have experienced this”, you much to say but you keep it in. They were always there supporting each other, yet had storms of their own, still calmed down others. But eventually, they did poured it. “When you can’t hold, I’ll be there. When you stop, I’ll be there.” Writer didn’t pushed the friendship rather made it grow. It cooked on a low flame, like the hotpot.
> Perspective
During a case, ML and FL were arguing over case in initial episodes. I was annoyed by MLs thought, like FL, but as he polished the case. I was AWED. It was a new eye. Towards end, the case of grandmother. How well fl took it, she wasn’t there to prove her innocent and chug the case. But, make her hidden soul shine. Grandma did murdered, but circumstances which lead to it shall not be taken lightly [Ik it’s not fair, I have no right to say it, but things don’t stand own their own there’s something behind]. I was myself at barbaric consultation with my inner self I did thought for a while. You may too!
> Parallelism, Cinematography and Eggs
The strings which connected today’s Fl and ML with the ones young in their youth a making it run in a congruity was well. Some transitions were smooth. There was a scene at end of ep 1, where camera focuses on a half filled beer glass, suggesting that there is something still bubbling. Their backstory was fresh, where the leads had a different charm.
The earthquake things which came at the entry of FL and building owner suggested changes and unseen initiatives. There were so much small of details and eggs scattered here and there, but I’ll keep it short.
I enjoyed subtle boxing and lines of division used throughout. Honourable mentions were the subway scene of ML and Fl which was at end of an episode. And in the one of the last few eps, there was a scene where they all were eating a restaurant where they order gyoza with something. And camera moves out boxing them in groups. Which indicates some similar thought alignment and likability. In most meetings of Fl and ML boxing was used to describe the intimacy.
> Acting, Plot and Theme
Acting was well. I really like the actresses acting and it was my first time with ML. But my fav ones are 2nd FLs husband and Attorney or I should say Prosecutor Cho. I clicked with Cho as he’s one at centre yet shadowed. Talkative yet one left not talked. I was annoyed at once when all leads were just cutting him off. Actor was well. I enjoyed each aspect of acts and didn’t felt it went low enough. Ofc few misses were there.
Plot, not much of a plot was there. It was just like new episode new talk with side stories wiring around.
Theme, the law based theme and everything was just not too much great either bad but wasn’t avg. The subtle calming tone catalysed by food like a warm hug did some for me. Their interactions were always so much of inviting and exhilarating. I find no obnoxious things about this tone. Whereas the serious, volatile nature during cases was fine. Not much of talk.
For ost, I only enjoyed “can I love you” by doko other ones didn’t really reached to my ear. Should’ve used them better imo.
Misses
> Too much at once
> Some cases were left at void
> I don’t think it classifies as Romance, cause I got a bare minimum of Romance. (Not to mention the screen time of leads.)
> Should’ve given more screen to pregnant phase to deepen it at end.
> Was perplexing at time. Writer might’ve been rambling stuff at one point.
> No gravity was created for cases, like come yes ah go
> Would’ve liked more of a proper context of Building owner. At least a support system underneath. (Or she was meant to be like that idk but ya)
That’s all!!!
My nutshell review would be, give it a chance. Just don’t go with a lot of hopes. And you won’t be disappointed, we can’t really hope dahlias in brisk of winter dusk. Bustling and hustling life’s of attorneys fighting inside out. New ideas and ideologies scattered waiting to be induced. Happy watching! I am open for discussions, critics and more of your thoughts!!! Cyaaaa till thennn new drama comes idk what I’ll watchhh! Hearts!

Friends and lawyers in the beige city
This drama gathers a really lovely cast mostly old familiar faces that I have seen in law dramas before. The drama has a slight hospital playlist meets law school vibe but without the drama and suspense of law school and without the deep friends to lovers tension of hospital playlist as the romance and plot is as beige as Kang Hui Ji (Mun Ka Young) suits.Basically taking something that could have been great but making it a bit draggy and with a complete lack of spark. The episodic nature of this was just flat and most of the stories where neither new or especially interesting, giving me the feeling of Iv seen this before done better. That said the drama does have enough moments of brilliance to push it towards the 8 star rating and those are:
1. The meals the group of friends share in this and the way those five interact and bond as a group Shows some of the sweetest moments of friendship to be seen in all of dramaland.
2. The married couples plot-line, the way they interact, the support and the playfulness of their relationship.
3. The work wife/husband dynamics between An Ju Hyeong (Lee Jong Suk) and Bae Mun Jeong (Ryu Hye Young) platonic friendship between genders that just works so well and makes you (or at leas me) wish you had one of those at work too.
4. The bromance between Cho Chang Won (Kang You Seok) and Ha Sang Gi ( Im Sung Jae) I could probably have watched a spin off with just those two.
So to sum it up this is probably more of a 7,75 than an 8 but worth a binge for the characters just don´t expect a mind blowing romance or an interesting plot and you will be fine
P.S the PPL in this was lovely with both Kopiko, Subway and a bunch of drnks... made me feel so familiar...

A comforting drama about friendship, and lawyers.
I came here because I heard there's Lee Jong Suk and Moon Ka Young staring as the main leads and was intrigued. Even tho I came for the romance, I stayed because of the friendship and cases instead. This show displayed meaningful moments of friendship, love and acceptance. It also beautifully dives into the life of a lawyer and showed different perspectives of cases and ordinary people. This kdrama shows a series of cases waiting to be solved by our lawyer friend group and in the same time developing their relationship with eachother while also discovering one's self. I would have to say the whole romance backstory part of the leads wasn't necessary to make this drama a hit and it actually made me think they had no chemistry at all at the beginning of the series. However they started to grow on me after they got together and helped eachother out. It wasn't a typical exes to lovers kdrama storyline but instead was resolved quite quickly with no super hard feelings. Although I will have to say it was quite weird to budge in the Hong Kong backstory part cuz it wasn't really that neccesary and instead got abandoned after they got together, like there's no more references about it.This drama didn't make their romance a big focus, but instead made it naturally happen with no fuzzy drama like other shows do. If you only came for romance, this isn't really the show for you. But if you are willing to give it a chance, please stay longer because everything else is going to make up for it.
