Quiet Revenge and Buried Histories
After a long wait, this drama is finally delivering exactly what I hoped for—and more. From the very first episode, the story hooks you with a brilliantly messy setup: a swapped marriage, a missing imperial plaque, and a heroine who quietly outsmarts her entire family. Ye Li and Mo Xiuyao are already shaping up to be the perfect match, both sharp and wounded in ways that make their slow-burn connection feel earned. The way the plot peels back layers—revealing Lishan Academy’s tragic blockade, the purges of its scholars, and Mo Xiuyao’s hidden torment—is genuinely gripping. Still, I can’t ignore some hiccups. A few scenes rely a little too heavily on coincidence to move things forward, and at times the acting and makeup pull me out of the moment. The studio backgrounds can look a bit artificial, too, which clashes with the otherwise beautiful cinematography. But honestly, these flaws don’t ruin the experience. The intrigue, the quiet revenge, and the weight of all that buried history keep me invested.

I love it!!!
I would definitely recommend anyone to start watching this as this is such a beautiful story with an amazing healing arc. I have watched all the released 7 episodes and it's one of the best tv shows I so far loved in 2026 after pursuit of jade. I love the casting and specially Cheng lei, his acting is on another level and he perfectly portrays prince ding character! So is Bailu, she does an amazing job and she has embraced her character flawlessly! Was this review helpful to you?
Great so far!!
Amazing show and love how they show both sides pov from the leads. Can’t wait to learn more about the story for revenge and how the leads will grow together. So far at the first five episodes and I’m hooked, great acting from both leads. If only you can drop all the episodes all together that would be amazing! Was this review helpful to you?

Bailu is such a versatile actress .I'm in love with acting . one of best drama of 2026 and acting carrier. Cheng lei is doing fantastic job. waiting for upcoming episodes. The character development is nothing short of brilliant. The leads share undeniable, magnetic chemistry, and their emotional journeys feel both profound and earned. Even the supporting characters are given rich, layered motivations, making the audience genuinely care about every single player on the screen. The protagonist's transformation is empowering, while the antagonists are terrifyingly sympathetic. Visually, the drama is a feast for the eyes. The production value is top-notch, featuring stunning cinematography, incredibly detailed traditional costumes, and awe-inspiring fight or magical choreography. Combined with an emotionally haunting soundtrack, every climactic scene hits with maximum impact. Furthermore, the themes of loyalty, resilience, and sacrifice are explored with such raw, heartfelt nuance that the narrative leaves a lasting emotional hangover. Whether you are a longtime C-drama fan or a newcomer to the genre, this series hooks you instantly and refuses to let go. It is a cinematic triumph that honors its source material while elevating Chinese television to new heights. If you are looking for an epic, binge-worthy experience, this is an absolute must-watch.

A fresh, unique C-drama that breaks away from the same recycled storylines.
You guys don't know how much I love this drama. Initially, I thought it wouldn't be for me because I usually don't enjoy slow-paced dramas, but this one completely proved me wrong. It's slow-paced, yet every episode is engaging and keeps me entertained. What I love most is that I genuinely have no idea where the story is heading. In most dramas, I can predict the plot and even the ending within the first five episodes, but this one feels completely different. It's refreshing to watch something so unique.
The acting is absolutely top-notch. Every actor delivers such a strong performance that it almost feels like a competition to see who can act better. Yeli, played by Bai Lu, is the heart of this drama. Her character is incredibly well-written, complex, and compelling in a way that many drama characters aren't.
I honestly think this is going to become one of my all-time favorite dramas. I enjoy it far more than dramas like Pursuit of Jade and Ashes to Crown. In my opinion, those dramas relied on recycled storylines and became popular largely because of their visuals, whereas this drama stands out because of its storytelling, characters, and performances.
