Rewrite The Stars.

For a drama that was being provided for free on Youtube, Head 2 Head exceeded my expectations. The storyline is nothing new, and the very simple portrayal of family, friendship and the explosive dynamics between them all is what elevates this show to another level.

Childhood friends turned rivals Jerome and Jinn has made it their mission to annoy the living daylights out of each other, including moving to extreme lengths such as courting the other's crush.
When one such 'competition' ends with Jerome crashing his car, he starts to dream visions from 10 years ahead... visions in which he and Jinn are no longer at war. Jerome begins to realize that the dreams might not be as simple as they seem when he scarily cross checks facts, revealing a crucial information that rewrites everything he had assumed about Jinn.

Why was he receiving these visions? Could he really change what awaits him? Who exactly was Jinn to him?

☆ Most of the drama takes place at college, or in their homes. Honestly, it's an almost accurate portrayal of a college students life. The relationship between the kids and their parents is one of the main backbones of the tale and I adored how it was depicted.

☆ I have to give it to GMMTV... this is my 4th drama from them and however the story strays, the characters are all fully fleshed out human beings who are relatable. Characters are empathetic and make logical arguments, which was refreshing to watch.
Yes, there were tough episodes, but the writers couldn't afford to drag out conflicts with only 12 episodes.

This might be the true highlight of Head 2 Head. Not to mention that every actor was convincing to my eyes.

☆ The second couple, Farm and Van are equally captivating as the main one. They were definitely the sour apples, and time might've been insufficent to portray Van's growth, but they somehow managed to bring it to the finish line.
Throw in their friend Mai and we get a gang of mixed personalities that doesn't seem unrealistic.

I'm not the best judge when it comes to technicalities, but, honestly, this drama was a warm hug for me since November 2025, without being overboard or underwhelming.
It was a sunshine after rain moment for me after Khemjira, which I had completed prior to it. I'm slightly upset that I won't have anything to escape from reality for a while.
I wish that Jerome, Jinn, Van, Farm and Mai continue to live their lives in the best way, whichever universe they exist in.

A mix of fluff, tiny angst, lots of comedy and a mystery.

Not every drama has to be extremely high quality to be enjoyable. I loved every bot of the drama. It was entertaining to watch, heartwarmingly cute and kept me hooked to know what happens till the end. I never knew SeaKeen had it in them to pull of a drama like this. Now I want them to have more characters to banter.

The plot was definitely good. It might have had holes here or there, honestly I didn't care to notice. What I loved the most is the dynamics of J and Jinn. It's been a while we had a rivalry college drama. The first half focused more on chemistry build up and the second half of the drama untangled the mystery. Sometimes I couldn't get the timelines but it was not difficult to understand what was going on. The side couple's story was as investing as the main one. It's rare to see red flags in such semi-fluff stories so good to see something different.

The direction was definitely on the better side. Whoever designed the theme and concept deserves some kudos. It perfectly captured the essence of the drama. The whole drama is so GenZ coded and I think it was directed well.

Keen has so much of potential, he portrayed his character so well and his emotions were never failing. Keen has improved so much, he is definitely a lot less stiff and is showing great expression. I am fairly impressed with Java, I cannot believe he is one of the newbies. The way he portrayed he character was so to the point I wanted to slap some sense in him. Surf indeed showcased strong acting ability with stable emotions and delivery.

Definitely one of GMMTv's better drama. It should have gotten a lot more hype.

another wasted potential

The ONLY reason I stayed until the very end was because of SeaKeen. At first, I didn't know what to expect from their acting; I was just curious since they were new talents in GMMTV, so I didn't expect much. But wow, for newbies, they did so well, and their chemistry was amazing. Keen, omg, his facial expressions are so good!

As for the series itself, I can't say much good about it. It was badly executed, full of plot holes, the scenes jumped all over the place, and the transitions were terrible. The storytelling was so chaotic that I didn't even realize the show was supposed to be a fantasy until the literal final moments of the finale.

A 30 mins story is stretched to be told through 12eps

I liked the story, and the first few episodes were really interesting, the way the animosity in the beginning changes into a mysterious visions and finding a way to stop someone's death, I dare say it got all my attention.

However, up till ep 6 it was acceptable pace, then it was the same episode all over till the last ep where we get a very lame reason behind those visions and a very odd explanation for not killing the ML.

As a person who likes happy ends, I was satisfied, but generally speaking, I was waiting for a reason that would make sense, supernatural or not, at least if it's gonna be like that, put some efforts in explaining it better, not just a line told by a character at the last scene.

I like the two leads, of course JJ too he always makes me smile, though his character here was really forced as if they wanted some comedy so they just put JJ character in, he adds nothing to the story except the comedic relief, but it's always a pleasure seeing this twin or half of them so nothing to complain about here ~

Was it entertaining? Yes, but also I can fall asleep while watching, the story was fine the execution was too stretched, but overall nice watch.
You can skip it or watch it it won't make any difference ~~

Overview of Series- My thought

Honestly Speaking, The one before this series short one Meuvtluv by luck Ep1-4 its too good than this but by the actors acting they need more work on their kissing cuts, the main actors keensea have done some series before still its not on point i feel it by watching the rom scenes as of story its kind of ok ok . Gmm focus only on school or college stuff for the young or most pair on all actors. Story line was some good it can have some other instead of college stuffs.As of 2nd couple surfjava their first onscreen presence its good to see them as act and waiting for their upcoming and still java needs to have some upskilling in his way of acting and surf is coded boyfie, 2nd couple could have some more scenes. Finally, Aj can he have a pair? 🤣 even though aj had few scenes it good having him with perfect inserting in the scenes. Final over all thought is good, but can have improve in keensea acting and story line, new actors are good in their work.

Cute and fantasy series starring Keen and Sea

PLOT: Two childhood friends and neighbors, J and Jinn, have always bickered and hated each other, despite being inseparable. They attend a fashion school (sewing and design) and have the same group of friends. After an accident, J begins having visions/premonitory dreams, including one in which he sees Jinn's death. He then becomes aware of his feelings for Jinn and will do everything he can to change what he sees in his dreams.

+++ Keen and Sea, novice actors, have a bright future ahead of them.
+++ A charming second romance, and I really love the chemistry between Java and Surf.
+++ A coherent story and dynamic direction.

### The school section is completely unbelievable: a majority of boys in this type of program, sketches on models that don't progress from the beginning to the end of the series, etc.
### The fantasy section could have been better developed.

=> A nice series for discovering Keen & Sea, cute, but not memorable either.

PLOT: 2 amis d'enfance / voisins, J et Jinn, se chamaillent et se détestent depuis tjs., bien qu'ils soient inséparables. Ils sont ds 1 école de mode (couture, design) et ont le mm gpe d'amis. Après 1 accident, J commence à avoir des visions / rêves prémonitoires, notamment ds lesquels il voit la mort de Jinn. Il prend alors conscience de ses sentiments pr Jinn, et va tt faire pr changer ce qu'il voit ds ses rêves.

+++ Keen et Sea, acteurs novices, ont un bel avenir devant eux.
+++ Romance 2aire attachante et j'aime bcp l'alchimie entre Java et Surf.
+++ Story cohérente et réalis° dynamique.

### La partie Ecole n'est pas du tout crédible : une majorité de garçons ds ce type d'études, des ébauches sur des mannequins qui ne progressent pas du début à a fin de la série, etc.
### La partie Fantaisy aurait pu être mieux exploitée.

Bene, anche con un elephant in the room

Allora, mi è piaciuta? Sì. Sono contante che SeaKeen abbiano fatto il diciamo "salto di qualità" (in tutti i sensi nei BL)? Sì. Vorrei che il regista fosse stato un altro e ho paura per i prossimi prodotti con la GMMTV? Sì. Credo che il problema più grande sia stato che non essendo pronto (per qualsivoglia ragione), OFDO hanno dovuto un pelo cambiare la programmazione e questo ha reso l'editing molto difficile (certo è anche un vizio di New quello di mandare in onda serie non ancora finite di girare). Detto ciò non è che mi lamenti, la serie è stata piacevole e onestamente ho visto di molto peggio, l'unica cosa è che questo problema con l'editing ha reso il tutto più difficile da seguire e ad una certa, stavo perdendo quasi il filo. Però tutto è bene quel che finisce bene, giusto?

Head 2 Head — Carried by Chemistry, Not by the Weight of Its Own Story

Going into Head 2 Head, I already knew one thing: Keen and Sea together just work. And this drama basically confirms it. They have that rare kind of screen connection that you don’t have to “believe” — you just feel it. You could already catch glimpses of it back in Only Boo! (2024), like they genuinely enjoyed acting opposite each other, and here it evolves into something warmer, more natural, more grounded.

They’re honestly adorable together, but not in an artificial fanservice way. It feels relaxed. Comfortable. Like two people who understand each other’s rhythm. And when a story is emotionally lighter than it maybe should be, that kind of chemistry ends up carrying everything.

Because if I’m being completely honest, the story itself is good… but it plays things very safe emotionally. When you compare it to something like I Saw You in My Dream (2024), which leaned harder into the supernatural emotional weight, Head 2 Head feels almost too soft for themes like grief and losing someone you love. Death is treated more like a narrative background than something that truly reshapes the characters’ emotional world. And that’s where I felt the biggest gap. Not bad writing — just… not as deep as it could have been.

But again, this is where Keen and Sea save the whole thing. They sell emotions that the script sometimes only sketches. That says a lot about their acting level, even if they’re not technically perfect yet. They have presence. They make you root for them. And sometimes that matters more than flawless technique.

The parents storyline honestly surprised me in the best way. Mam and Nui were incredible — not just as mothers, but as women, as friends, as emotional anchors to the story. Their dynamic felt lived-in and real, and sometimes I caught myself more invested in their scenes than I expected. Lift and Mos might not be central, but they complete the emotional ecosystem of the parents’ relationship. Nothing feels random. Everyone adds texture.

And yes, I need to say it: New Thitipoom showing up, even briefly, is one of those “oh wow” moments. He’s aging really well, and there’s something about seeing BL actors grow into more mature screen presence that makes me both proud and a little sad. Because realistically, many of them will transition more into mainstream roles as they age. And I get it — industry logic. But at the same time, I genuinely think BL with older characters, older bodies, older emotional baggage is something the industry is still missing. Love doesn’t stop existing after your twenties. And actors like him prove there is space for that if the industry ever wants to explore it.

Final feeling

Head 2 Head is one of those dramas where you remember the people more than the plot. And sometimes that’s okay. Because at the end of the day, what stayed with me wasn’t the story structure — it was the warmth, the chemistry, the feeling that these characters could exist outside the screen. And honestly, sometimes that’s enough to make a drama worth watching.

A pretty enjoyable watch, so long as you suspend disbelief

I went into the drama with no expectations - I had enjoyed “Only Boo!” last year, was not entirely convinced about Sea’s acting, but the plot was entertaining enough to keep me hooked. However, I initially didn’t have “Head 2 Head” on my radar and only picked it up because I was craving a lighthearted show, one of these where the more you think about the plot, the less it makes sense. And oh boy, did “Head 2 Head” deliver in this aspect (but to my surprise - not in a bad way).

Let’s talk about the main couple first: J and Jinn ended up having my entire heart. I really enjoyed watching the progression of their relationship throughout the show - fast-paced, but also not too rushed. We got enough time to see them grow closer, fonder of each other AND handle hardships together as a team. If we ignore J’s inner struggles, I also think they communicated pretty well and cleared up conflicts quickly enough, which is always great to see in a BL. My only grapple with J and Jinn is that I think the show could’ve gone way deeper with their back stories and development as individual characters. From one point onwards, it felt like their lives merged and they didn’t have much going on apart from their relationship. Which may be logical given J’s traumatic visions, but I wish it weren’t the case. Either way, I think Sea and Keen did a great job with what they had to work with. Keen was phenomenal as always, and even though I felt like Sea couldn’t really deliver during some of the more emotional scenes, his acting has drastically improved since “Only Boo!” (and a cocky character is a GREAT fit for him).

I also liked the direction they took J’s visions in. The way I understood it, they were a supernatural ability to an extent (otherwise how would you explain the notebook scene?), but one could also interpret them as a non-magical product of J’s worries about the future, or even as obsessive intrusive thoughts. Even if this wasn’t the intention of the show, I appreciate that they filmed the scenes and explained the visions in a way which allows the viewer to make their own conclusions. I also liked the way this plotline was wrapped up - there weren’t any last-minute explanations of how this ability actually works; J just basically makes peace with the fact that the future is uncertain, and that even if he might not always be able to protect Jinn, he can at least love him.

With regard to the family dynamics, there is a lot of room for growth in my opinion (and I don’t only allude to the tendency to forgive neglectful parents in Thai dramas). I found Jinn’s relationship with his mom very interesting and would’ve loved to see more of it besides the very open displays of affection and praise. I similarly wish the show would’ve focused more on how the absence of Jinn’s dad affected his childhood. I loved the scenes in which Jinn expressed his unfiltered anger (Keen did amazing in those!), but they also ended up feeling a bit empty when all we were otherwise shown as an audience was the moment the dad left. Like, a couple of throwback scenes where Jinn and his mom are portrayed struggling on their own would’ve been perfect! Likewise, I wish they also showed us how the father took care of the mother behind the scenes, as well as a more detailed explanation WHY they chose to keep Jinn in the dark; the big reveal that he was always there felt out of nowhere, as if they wanted to quickly redeem him so that the viewers have less of an issue with Jinn forgiving him (and with this being yet another show where a bad parent faces no consequences).

Last but not least: if I have to be honest, I was a bit indifferent towards Van and Farm. I did not like Van until the very end (although he admittedly underwent character growth) and I didn’t really understand why Farm had a crush on him to begin with. Especially at the point where Van’s wrongdoings had piled up, I found myself wondering how Farm’s feelings remained so strong when he was shown to be someone aware of his worth and not willing to tolerate bullshit. I am, however, relatively happy with how their storyline played out, and episode 10 when the two of them were the focus (rather than the main couple) actually became my favourite. Not because they were granted more screen time, but because we could see the friend group’s dynamics in a new light through Farm and Van's conflict.

Rereading my review up until this point, it sounds like I wasn't all that enthusiastic about the show. But that can't be furhter from the truth - because what surprised me the most regarding it is the excitement with which I was anticipating the new episode each Sunday. Not many shows have had such an effect on me, so I will be looking back on this one with warmth in my heart. Is it a masterpiece? No, not really! But it did deliver on being a lighthearted, entertaining watch, and that’s sometimes all you need. Might not be rewatch-worthy (while waiting for new episodes of “Head 2 Head”, I unfortunately found out as much about “Only Boo!”), but as long as you take off your critical glasses, I am sure you will find something for yourself in it.

(Oh, and maybe they could’ve spared us a couple of hospital visits - it gets to a point! I cheered after finishing episode 10 and there being none! Maybe that's actually why it's my favourite episode, lol)
