Well-Researched, Yet...

I can tell the director put a lot of effort into researching this series. The behind-the-scenes documentation of the production made me expect that the Catholic aspects would be handled with care, and for the most part, they were. That said, the one thing that kept bothering me was the ordination timeline. I genuinely thought the one who was going to be ordained was BarthTanrak's adopted son (I was assuming they adopted a child or maybe children), but it turned out to be Kongdech instead. I know there's no maximum age for ordination in the Catholic Church, and people can certainly become priests later in life. But speaking about what's usually the case, someone who enters the seminary after high school would normally be ordained in their mid-20s. A "20 years later" ordination puts Kongdech around his mid-30s, and the series never really gives us a reason why his formation would have taken that much longer. It's not impossible—it just felt a little off.
Another tiny thing that lowkey annoyed me was: Tanrak sighs. A lot. Like... "hhhheuy." Every. Single. Time. I kept thinking, "Is your life really that heavy, nhoo?"

Moving on to the good stuff. The idea, the plot, and the execution are genuinely great. What I loved the most was Barth's backstory. His struggle with God wasn't only because "I'm gay, therefore I hate God." It went much deeper than that, which made his character so much more compelling.
And lastly, thank you, Gemini, for bringing back crying with snot. That is, unironically, my gold standard for a convincing crying scene.

could've been better

Yep, another GMMTV series that falls into the same pattern: it hooks you with episodes 1–4, then the rest just... exist.

The overall plot is actually pretty interesting. Even though there were already quite a few BLs about the mafia during that era, I don't really mind. My issue is more with the execution. From the second half onward, the series just feels hollow, like they were only trying to get it over with.

It also introduced a lot of characters, but because most of them had so little screen time (or died), the characters never really had enough time to build meaningful bonds with one another, so their relationships didn't have much emotional impact.

On the bright side, the OST is really good, and PPW have great chemistry here. (And no, I'm not being biased, even though I'm a Narawin.)

I think it's bromance?

I watched this series back when I had no boundaries—I used to feel like I had to finish everything I started, no matter how bad it was. So here I am, having watched the entire series and finally able to give my review.

One thing I noticed is that GMMTV has a pattern: the pilot is always so good, it really hooks you in. Episodes 1–4 are usually solid, then the rest just kind of... exist. It feels like they're just trying to finish the project, and unfortunately, this series falls into that pattern too.

What's disappointing is that the main leads aren't newbies. They're both experienced, especially in the BL industry, but somehow, when they're paired together, the chemistry just isn't there. I'm not saying they're bad actors—it's just that their chemistry feels more like best friends than romantic partners.

Like I said, from episode 5 onward, it feels like the series is just going through the motions. It's still watchable, just... not that good.

beautiful chaos

I LOVE THIS SERIES SO MUCH. It's so vibrant, and the classroom atmosphere makes me miss high school so much. The little details—like the extension cords with everyone's phones charging, watching movies together in class—it all feels so nostalgic to me, and I can relate to it so much.

I might be holding this series to a double standard, but this is the kind of toxic relationship that I can accept, at least for me. In my defense, they're still young—their frontal lobes haven't fully developed yet.

And omg, the actors are incredibly talented. I think a lot of it also comes down to the director, because together they created a masterpiece. The acting never feels stiff or awkward; it all feels so natural. The production quality is just top-notch.

IF YOU WANT A HIGH QUALITY BL, YOU SHOULD WATCH THIS

Manner of Death is one of those series that had a very interesting premise. A BL series with a murder mystery, forensic investigation, and a darker storyline already sounded refreshing, especially compared to the usual (back then) romance-focused formula. The investigation aspect gave the story a stronger foundation, and I liked that the romance wasn't the only thing carrying the series.

In the other hand it also has everything that comes with an adult relationship, including the steamy scenes—but thankfully, it doesn't feel excessive or added just for fanservice. The amount feels right and fits the relationship and the story. The chemistry between Max and Tul is definitely on point. Their dynamic feels natural, and they carry the romance well.

okay

Surprisingly, I managed to finish this drama until the last episode, especially considering my attention span was at its worst when I watched it.

The thing I appreciate the most about A Dream Within a Dream is how the conflicts are handled. I don't know if this is something typical in C-dramas or just this particular drama, but I like that the problems are solved gradually throughout the story. Unlike most of K-dramas where the conflicts keep piling up and then everything is resolved all at once in the end, this drama takes its time to untangle each problem step by step.

Because of that, even with 40 episodes, I didn't feel as bored as I expected. The pacing worked for me because there was always some kind of progression instead of just waiting for a big final reveal. Also it's funny.

The chemistry between the leads is okay. It's not something that completely blew me away, but it works. Overall, the drama is pretty decent—a solid, enjoyable watch, even if it doesn't leave a huge impression.

FUNNY

The clips from Wonderfools appeared on my timeline so often that I thought it was another zombie K-drama with a comedy twist. Turns out, it's actually a sci-fi series with a comedy twist.I ended up liking it. It's funny, and even though some of the jokes didn't really land for me, the overall experience was still enjoyable. It gave me a good laugh, and sometimes that's exactly what you need from a series. The background story feels a bit underdeveloped, the whole concept of wunderkinder is interesting, but because the number of episodes is limited, everything feels a little too packed, but it's okay. I was invested because the series was fun, but around episode 6, I started to lose a bit of interest. It became slightly boring, although it was still watchable until the end.

Regarding a sequel, personally, I think nope, one season is enough. The original premise is built around the "end of the millennium" apocalypse, so continuing the story after the year 2000—or even going back to explore the creation of wunderkinder—might feel less relevant.

It may not fully explore its potential, but it succeeds in giving a good laugh and an enjoyable sci-fi experience.

this could have been amazing

The idea was promising. It had so much potential. Wu came with an interesting concept, a fantasy world, unique characters, and impressive production elements. The CGI, the atmosphere, and the variety of characters were all there. On paper, it had everything needed to become something special. But somehow, the execution stayed on the surface.

Watching Wu felt like eating a pizza that looks absolutely mouth-watering—the presentation is beautiful, the toppings are exciting, and you can't wait for the first bite. But once you taste it, you realize it is missing something. Not bland, not bad, but lacking the seasoning that would make it unforgettable.

The fact that I finished the entire series says that Wu is still enjoyable to watch. It has enough charm, visuals, and interesting elements to keep me invested until the end.

the unnecessary sequel

If you already watched the prequel, ITSAY, and were satisfied with the happy ending and the character development, you can honestly skip this one. However, if you still can't get enough of Billkin and PP's chemistry, then you should definitely give this a try.

The quality itself did not decrease. The chemistry is still there, and the execution remains good. The problem for me is the character development, which feels like it took a step backward.

A lot of people dislike the cheating storyline, but personally, I don't think the plot point itself was unrealistic or forced. It actually felt like something that could happen in a relationship, especially when someone is entering a new phase of life and gets caught up between personal ambition, temptation, and emotional immaturity. My problem isn't with the storyline—it’s with the characters' choices and how they handled the situation. Teh's betrayal was frustrating and watching Oh-aew chose to take him back in the end makes it unsatisfying.

So, while I Promised You the Moon is still well-made and Billkin-PP's chemistry remains its biggest strength, the emotional experience is much more complicated. It doesn't ruin the series, but it does make me miss the character growth and emotional satisfaction that ITSAY gave.

if you don't like this genre skip this but if this is your cup of tea don't trust the ratings

THE RATING IS SUPPOSED TO BE HIGHER. I understand that this genre might not be for everyone, but the execution is genuinely strong.

What impressed me the most was the acting. Every actor brought their character to life—you won't find stiff expressions, awkward body language, or performances that feel forced. The emotions feel natural, and even the quieter moments carry weight. If you want to see how GMMTV can maximize their actors' talents, I think 10 Years Ticket is a good example. It shows that their artists are capable of handling heavier material and delivering performances with real emotional depth.

It might not be everyone's cup of tea, but the quality of the writing, direction, and acting deserves more recognition than the current rating suggests.
(notes: low rewatch value rating is because it's heavy and emotionally draining)

Definitely worth watching.

The idea is great, and the acting is good too. Off’s improvement in this series is really impressive. The execution was still strong until the middle, but as it got closer to the ending, it became unsatisfying. There were still a lot of things left unexplained and unfolded.
But I heard that GMMTV gave a limited budget for this project, so maybe if it had a bigger budget, it could have been done even better.

the best version among other F4s versions

The overall story is similar to other F4 stories, so it’s not really my kind of thing because it involves bullying. But for me, this is the best version. The female lead isn’t dumb or naive, and I really like the character development.
I’ve watched the other versions before and always wondered why the female lead chose the male lead over the second male lead. In this version, that reason is portrayed the best. I really like how strong the male lead’s character development is. Meanwhile, the second male lead, even though he’s kind, is still deeply in love with his crush, which makes the female lead feel like a rebound. In this version, everything finally makes sense.

A MASTERPIECE, but

Overall, this is a masterpiece. The plot is fresh, the setting, the ambience, and even the soundtrack—it is indeed a (almost) perfection. The thing that bothered me the most was the product placement. LOL, I know they needed a lot of money to produce this one, but at least use the products correctly. Also, the acting sometimes kind of feels off. Not that bad "bad", though. It's still a masterpiece. KENG IS SO DAMN HOT HERE.

it's iconic, i know

I know the Khun Thee gimmick was so iconic, but for me, I don't think this is PondPhuwin's best work. There are so many plot holes and the character development is weak. This isn't PondPhuwin's first project together, but why do they look so stiff in a lot of their scenes? They don't seem comfortable with each other. Even when they're just leaning against each other, it feels so tense and forced. The same goes for their make-out scenes. The pacing also feels really slow—I had to watch it at 1.25x speed so the scenes wouldn't feel so empty.
I love them, I am Narawins myself. This is my non-biased opinion about the series.

gave me a good laugh

This series is easy to watch, chaotic in a good way. You don't have to think about the plot, just watch and enjoy it (just like other muteluv series). But personally this one is the funniest, especially the song of the cult ritual😂 Sometimes it's just popped on my mind and I need to look for it on youtube😭😭
