Your Sky: Hare no Chi Koi (2026)

A Japanese Remake That Gives a Beloved Story Fresh New Charm

I don't normally watch Japanese remakes of Thai dramas because they often feel lower budget and are much shorter than the original versions. Still, I absolutely loved the Thai version of Your Sky, so I decided to give this one a chance, and it did not disappoint. A few episodes in and I already have butterflies.

Ayuta is absolutely adorable as Hinata. He captures the kind hearted, innocent, and optimistic personality perfectly, making him impossible not to love. This is the second time I've seen him after School Trip: Joined a Group I'm Not Close To, where he played a supporting role, and he has such a warm and friendly screen presence.

Isshin is also well cast as Sora. He perfectly matches the cold, protective, and intimidating senior from the original. As the feared campus prince, he has the right balance of toughness and hidden softness, and his chemistry with Ayuta already feels natural.

The biggest surprise for me, though, is Oji. Even as Sora's love rival and a supporting character, he completely steals every scene he's in. He is incredibly handsome and charismatic, and I honestly couldn't take my eyes off him.

One thing I really appreciate is that the remake isn't a scene for scene copy. It keeps the fake relationship premise and university setting but adds its own small changes to keep things fresh. In the Thai version, Hinata is rescued and is supposed to get into the car, but in this remake version Sora carries him home on his back instead. That scene was so cute and adorable. The beautiful city skyline in the background made it feel much more refreshing than simply sitting in a car, and it gave them the chance to have a sweet conversation in the fresh air.

After just a few episodes, I'm completely hooked. I hope the series continues making thoughtful changes like this while staying true to what made the original so special. So far, this is probably the best Thai to Japanese remake I've seen.

If you enjoy romance, university settings, fake relationships that slowly become real, and sweet BL+ stories with lovable characters, this is definitely worth watching.

Another remake, another downfall....

This was boring... it was too condensed and most important of all, it had no chemistry. Fukuda Ayuta was good in School Trip as a support actor but here he was not believable. He also lacks the cuteness of the original. That's not to say he is ugly, just he does not have the "cute" vibe of Keng or Fujimoto Kodai from School Trip. Also his counterpart feels shallow.

It also felt, they did not have any workshops, so the chemistry was totally lacking. Yes, they kiss (because DMD would have demanded that) and the final not so nc-scene was the only scene where both of them acted believable. The other problem are the side couples which had not enough screen time to even establish a good story. It felt rushed. To go from twelve 45-57 minutes episodes down to nine 23minutes episodes was not the right choice. I expect there will be a special but it was too short to tell a good story. The "Sky" bar was also lifeless. There were never any guests which is quite odd. Why have a bar at all, when they never show it "full"? Of course they changed the story a bit and this time it was the mom in hospital because there is no grandpa. But the father also turned 180°C in matters of 3 minutes which also felt so unreal.

Overall, a complete waste of time. While the original was not good and had lengths they beat this remake in cuteness & chemistry. Of course the original had a much higher production budget, so this production looks flat, the acting is partly stiff, there are not many extras so even the university feels empty and most of the time you will get bored anyways because the story is not very dynamic at all. As expected this was a complete and utter fail.
