Director Kim Sung Soo of 12.12: The Day praised veteran actor Lee Sung Min for his unparalleled acting prowess, calling him "one of the finest actors" in South Korea.
12.12: The Day unveiled stills of Lee Sung Min's character, who plays the Republic Of Korea Army Chief of Staff Jeong Sang Ho.
The K-movie depicts the nine intense hours of the emergency to prevent the rebellion of the new military regime that occurred in Seoul on December 12, 1979.
Lee Sung Min (Reborn Rich, Juvenile Justice) will play the Chief of Staff Jeong Sang Ho, who senses the movements of the rebellion forces and prepares countermeasures.
In the released stills, Lee Sung Min looks concerned, intensifying the suspense in the face of a looming crisis.
Jeong Sang Ho is a pivotal character, kidnapped and taken into custody, ultimately igniting the fuse for a military rebellion.
Director Kim Sung Soo described Jeong Sang Ho as "a character with unequivocal dignity as the highest commander in the army. He is also a multifaceted figure who deals with anxiety felt in the time of crisis."
Jeong Sang Ho, quite early, detects Chun Doo Kwang's (Hwang Jung Min) attempts to mobilize forces, and he prepares for this by entrusting the role of the commander of the Capital Security Command to Lee Tae Shin (played by Jung Woo Sung).
He praised Lee Sung Min by saying, "Lee Sung Min acts with pinpoint accuracy, almost as if he is measuring it with a ruler. It feels clear and fits perfectly. I think he is one of the finest actors in our country."
Actor Lee Sung Min commented, "While this project marks my first collaboration with director Kim Sung Soo, I have admired his previous works and always wanted to work with him. On set, I could feel the gravitas of a master at work, and it was always a feeling of excitement and admiration."
12.12: The Day will hit the theaters on November 22.
