The K-movie 12.12: The Day has been nominated in six award categories at the 17th Asian Film Awards.

The nominations include Best Film, Best Director (director Kim Sung Soo), Best Actor (Hwang Jung Min), Best Supporting Actor (Park Hoon), Best Editing (Editor Kim Sang Bum), and Best Cinematography (Lee Mo Gae).

The Asian Film Awards is an annual event presented by the Asian Film Awards Academy to recognize the excellence of film professionals in Asian cinema. The 17th Asian Film Awards ceremony is set to take place in Hong Kong on March 10.

12.12: The Day depicts the nine intense hours of the emergency to prevent the rebellion of the new military regime that occurred in Seoul on December 12, 1979. Being the first K-movie to feature the 12.12 Military Insurrection, the film highlights the major event that changed the tide of modern Korean history.

12.12: The Day set records at the box office and has been a domestic hit this winter. It also surpassed The Roundup: No Way Out in terms of attracting the highest number of moviegoers.
