What would you do if you were allowed inside Do Min Joon and Chun Song Yi's apartments?
Venture out on the balcony perhaps? Flip through books in his library? Go nuts in her fabulous closet?

Or would you shamelessly throw yourself on his bed with reckless abandon?
(Come on now. You're among friends here. Fess up!)

I would sooo do that last part. And you know what? I just did!
If you happen to be in Seoul this summer - you can too!

Right now, at the spaceship-shaped "Dongdaemun Design Plaza" in central Seoul, there's a rare chance to get up-close and personal with "You Who Came from the Stars".

SBS fan service

The exhibit was created in order to meet an enormous demand for more of Do Min Joon (Kim Soo Hyun) and Chun Song Yi (Jeon Ji Hyeon), following the huge success of the show.

SBS decided to once again build the sets and pool together all the props and make it available to the public. Now that's fan service for ya!

The exhibit combines high-tech interactive elements with the actual props used in the show, and it's surprisingly hands-on. Let me walk you through it.

The exhibit

You start, fittingly, with how the show starts. Do Min Joon's first days on Earth and how he meets Chun Song Yi.

You will see Hanbok costumes on display as well as the young widow's sedan chair.

Then we get right into the good stuff; the lover's incredibly luxurious apartments.

We start at the lobby where you can press the button and get on the elevator. You can enter some roped off sections of both apartments, including DMJ and CSY's entry hallways.

As you continue forward you see DMJ's dining and living room. As well as his reading nook.

Here, you can go out onto his balcony. While you're there you can record yourself against a green screen, to make it look like you're in a scene from the show. (Daebak!)

And as if that wasn't exciting enough... Next, you'll be able to plop down on his bed and take a
selfie.

Seriously! Can you imagine? On. HIS. Bed.
I'm a woman in my 30's and I'm not ashamed to admit that I giggled like a schoolgirl when I did this.

So did all the rest of the exhibit's visitors, by the way. Teenager or senior citizen, man or woman... We ALL sat down on that bed, took pictures and giggled. A lot.

After the bedroom, there was something about spaceships, meteorites, alien costumes or some such... I wasn't paying much attention, to be honest. I was still fighting to get my fangirl-giggling in check.

Now we get a closer look at CSY's apartment. Her opulent bedroom/boudoir and walk-in closet.
Complete, of course, with the giant portrait of herself on the wall.

(I've always wondered; is that required of all Korean stars? To hang huge portraits of yourselves all over the place? Judging by the evidence from this show, "You're Beautiful", "Full House", "Oh! My Lady" and countless others... seems like it is.)

Next came perhaps the most impressive part of the exhibit; the Library.

Sadly, you're not allowed inside to touch things in this section. But it's impressive all the same.
All of it was there. The books, his university certificates, the desk and the mementos collected throughout the centuries...

Rounding off the exhibit is a "Chicken & Beer Cafe" (Ha!) and a small gift shop.

Lastly, a look inside CSY's kitchen and living room. Including the giant spy-cam teddy.
(Oh! What those eyes have seen/recorded.)

exhibit_11.jpg

All the sets are built and connected together in the same way they were in the show.
Quite an impressive build. Seen, here, from above. From the very spot where CSY did her (sabotaged) stunt jump in the show.

Well, that's all folks!

These were the main highlights, for your viewing pleasure.

For those of you who won't be able to make it to Seoul this summer; I hope this article has served as a small substitute.

For those of you who can; the exhibit ticket will run you 12,000 Won (approx $12 US) and it'll stay open until August 15th.
Take the subway to "Dongdaemun History & Culture Park" station, exit 1.
Follow the signs and let your inner fangirl/fanboy go nuts!
