Kubota Masataka will play the main complex role of Kaneki Ken, while Shimizu Fumika will portray Kirishima Touka. The rest of the cast have not been announced yet.

Before news of the live adaptation were confirmed, the original creator Ishida Sui said that he had the perfect actor in mind for Ken’s role. After Kobuta was casted, the manga writer said that he watched him in “Bokutachi wa Sekai wo Kaeru Koto ga Dekinai” and thought that if Ken was a real character then Kobuta was the perfect actor to portray him.

The manga released 7 volumes thus far and was turned into two seasons animes, several OVAs, PlayStation games, smartphone games and even a stage play.

The expected release of the film is 2017.
