5 Reasons To Start Watching 'Love In The Moonlight'

Lots of people were not sure if this drama would be anything new, perhaps just new faces for a regurgitated plot. However, Moonlight Drawn by Clouds (a.k.a. Love in the Moonlight) has managed to surprised me, and many others around the world, with its well written characters and storyline.

Quick FYI: I'm a huge fan of  Reply 1988, and it's main actor Park Bo Gum. I've seen the drama at least 5 times before I stopped counting. It has been my remedy when I fall ill.

So you can imagine how happy I was to hear about Park Bo Gum's new drama. This actor has stolen my heart so many times with his amazing acting and personality. He is just adorable.

Even though I loved  Park Bo Gum's acting in Reply 1988, I wasn't sure about seeing him in a different role.  In my mind, I tend to see actors I love, and the  previous characters they've played, become one to me.

Nevertheless, I am glad that I started watching Moonlight Drawn by Clouds and here are the five reasons why you should give it a try:

1. Park Bo Gum Charms

I have mentioned this reason all over this article and I am a truly biased towards him at the moment. But what can I say? This guy is a charmer and a really good actor.

2. The Plot and Characters

I am not a huge fan of historical dramas, and yet I enjoyed the combination of genres in Moonlight due to the fresh take on the gender bender genre. In the beginning, I was wondering what kind of reason would they give for a girl to pretend to be a guy.

“Why would she do that?” The answer, without spoiling much, is deeper than one woman in that era needing money. It's more of a psychological reason than a materialistic one, and I love that. Even though I was screaming in my head (so I wouldn't wake up my sister) at  Kim Yoo Jung, to tell them that she is a girl. Nevertheless, the deeper you go in this drama, the more fun it becomes.

Politics is a dirty, dirty game. In order to navigate that, our Crown Prince has to deal with his inner emotions and find ways to keep his people safe and sound. It's a tough job! So good job writernim!

3. The Bad Guys

Don’t you miss dramas where you can't help but hate the bad guys? Well, I do. In Moonlight, you hate the right people from the start as they show you their true colors. That way you can focus your hate on them and relax once the good characters get screentime.

Moreover, there is no second lead syndrome. I repeat no second lead syndrome!  To me, this is a blessing as I am tired of all the emotional blackmail that comes with loving the second lead. (Looking at you Cinderella and the Four Knights).

4. Friendship at its Best

The friendship of our main leads are so strong that it’s admirable. It teaches us a lot of lessons on how a friend can be a source of strength to his other friends, and that trust is all you need to have a strong relationship with others. If you are love bromances/strong friendships, this is your go-to drama, because these three are perfect.

5. The Soundtrack

GUMMY IS SINGING! Enough said! Just listen and be amazed.

Those were my reasons. I hope I convinced you to  give Moonlight Drawn By The Clouds (aka Love In the Moonlight) a chance. For those of you who are watching it, please share your thoughts!
