Lee Joong Ok joins Park Shin Hye and Kim Jae Young in a new crime romance K-drama
2PM's Ok Taecyeon and Kim Hye Yoon are confirmed to work together for a new tvN drama!
The production team of "Tale of the Secret Royal Inspector and Jo Yi" confirmed on May 20th that Ok Taecyeon and Kim Hye Yoon are officially the leads for the said series. They hope that viewers would anticipate the fresh chemistry between the two actors.
"Tale of the Secret Royal Inspector and Jo Yi" will be helmed by Yoo Jong Sun who also worked for "Designated Survivor: 60 Days" and the script will be penned by "The Undateables" writer, Lee Jae Yoon. Studio Dragon and Mongjakso will produce the upcoming drama,
The historical comedy series will showcase the journey of undercover royal secret agents who were tasked to expose the wrongdoings of public officials.
Ok Taecyeon will play the role of Ra Yi Eon, a sixth-class civil servant and the youngest inspector who topped the state exams. Although he's smart and dashing, he doesn't have any future goals. Kim Hye Yoon on the other hand will play the role of Kim Jo Yi, a realist who is ahead of her era in Joseon, a sacred place of Confucianism. She believes that people can get a divorce in their life. She is married to a gambling addict for three years.
"Tale of the Secret Royal Inspector and Jo Yi" will be Ok Taec Yeon's second drama for 2021. He recently starred in the hit tvN drama "Vincenzo" as together with Song Joong Ki and Jeon Yeo Bin. It was also reported that his K-pop group 2PM will reunite and release an album this coming June.
Meanwhile, this drama will be Kim Hye Yoon's first drama for the year. Aside from "Tale of the Secret Royal Inspector and Jo Yi", she will also take part in the upcoming JTBC drama "Snowdrop" with Jung Hae In, BLACKPINK's Kim Ji Soo, Yoo In Na, and more. She last starred in the 2019 drama "Extraordinary You.”
"Tale of the Secret Royal Inspector and Jo Yi" will air on tvN in the second half of 2021.
