SOOP labelmates Gong Yoo and Seo Hyun Jin will possibly be the next K-drama couple for Netflix!
On February 20, several industry insiders shared that Gong Yoo and Seo Hyun Jin will lead a new Netflix romance-genre K-drama titled Trunk.
Gong Yoo and Seo Hyun Jin's agency Management SOOP responded to the casting reports. The agency confirmed that the two did receive the casting offer. They also revealed that the two are positively considering starring in the upcoming romance K-drama.
Trunk will base its story on a novel of the same name by Kim Rye Ryeong. The K-drama will revolve around a marriage service agency that sets up clients with a married life with a desired partner.
The upcoming K-drama will be directed by Kim Kyu Tae (Our Blues, Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo, and That Winter, the Wind Blows) and written by Park Eun Young (Hwarang).
In the upcoming series, Gong Yoo received the offer to play the role of a music producer. Meanwhile, Seo Hyun Jin got the offer to play the role of an employee of the marriage agency. Both of them think of marriage negatively.
There are no official details yet on the premiere of the upcoming K-drama as well as the supporting actors that will possibly join Gong Yoo and Seo Hyun Jin.
If Gong Yoo decided to accept the offer, this will be his second K-drama under Netflix. His last drama The Silent Sea was also a Netflix original. This will also be his return to the romance genre after seven years. The top actor is also set to make a special appearance in the upcoming movie Wonderland led by Miss A's Bae Suzy, Park Bo Gum, Choi Woo Shik, and Jung Yu Mi
Meanwhile, if Seo Hyun Jin confirms her casting, this will be her first project for 2023. The actress was last seen in the SBS K-drama Why Her? with Hwang In Youp, Heo Joon Ho, Bae In Hyuk, Jo Young Jin, and Kim Sun Hyuk. She also led the 2022 film Cassiopeia.
