"Exhuma" Director Jang Jae Hyun Plans a Korean Vampire Movie for His Next Project
The highly-anticipated movie Ballerina, featuring actress Jeon Jong Seo in the lead role, has officially confirmed its release date for October 6th. Further building excitement, the film has unveiled a teaser poster and a teaser.
Ballerina is an action-revenge thriller. The Netflix synopsis writes, "Grieving the loss of a best friend she couldn’t protect, ex-bodyguard Ok Joo sets out to fulfill her dear friend's last wish: sweet, sweet revenge".
Director Lee Chung Hyun, who previously collaborated with Jeon Jong Seo in the acclaimed film The Call, once again joins hands with the talented actress.
The teaser poster shows Ok Joo sitting on a motorcycle, gazing ahead with an icy look. The fluorescent red light forbodes an impending vengeance, and the text reads, "One thing I had to protect", alluding to her motivation for seeking revenge after losing her best friend, ballerina Min Hee (Park Yoo Rim).
The accompanying teaser opens with Ok Joo saying, "There's something I need to do". Then the following contrasting scenes show a beautiful ballet performance and Ok Joo's brutal preparations for her quest for vengeance. As Ok Joo discovers that Choi Pro (Kim Ji Hoon) is the one responsible for her BFF's tragic fate, she engages in a high-stakes confrontation, using guns, knives, fists, and her unwavering determination as weapons.
The fast-paced and exhilarating action sequences of Ok Joo promise a never-seen-before action-revenge drama film. The ambiance is further made exciting by the trendy music, courtesy of the versatile musician Gray, who serves as the movie's music director.
The teaser concludes with Ok Joo aiming with her gun, saying, "I'll hunt you down all the way to hell".
With the poster and teaser offering a tantalizing glimpse of the high-octane thriller, Ballerina heightens expectations. The film has also garnered considerable attention as an official selection for the 28th Busan International Film Festival, taking place from October 4th to October 13th, in the Korean Cinema Today: Special Premiere category.
