An application for an injunction to ban the broadcasting of the upcoming Netflix documentary I am God has been filed.

According to sources, it was reported on February 24 that President Jeong Myeong Seok of the Christian Gospel Mission (JMS) submitted an application for a provisional injunction against MBC and Netflix to the Seoul Western District Court on February 17, whose hearing will be held on the 28th of the month.

On the 3rd of next month, Netflix has scheduled to release a documentary titled I am God, which deals with people who called themselves 'Gods' and exploited society during the late 90s. The documentary will deal with some of the unforgettable incidents of Korean modern history, including the JMS incident, the Odaeyang mass suicide incident, and the child garden incident, throughout the 8 episodes.

I am God is directed by PD Cho Seong Hyun, who previously covered the JMS incident in the MBC current affairs program PD Notebook. MBC was the show's production company.

Producer Cho Seong Hyun said, "In Korea in 2023, there are more than 100 people who claim to be the Messiah. I am God is a story about people who met different messiahs but surprisingly suffered similar damage".
