Na In Woo and Lee Se Young will reportedly work together for a new MBC K-drama!
"When The Day Breaks" has halted its filming after eight episodes.
On December 16th it was announced that the upcoming JTBC drama "When The Day Breaks" had stopped its filming after eight episodes. According to reports, the production wanted to reorganize and improve the quality of the drama. The said series was originally planned to have a total of 16 episodes for its first season.
JTBC shared their official statement, stating that "When The Day Breaks" already finished the filming for eight episodes. It was originally planned that the drama will have 16 episodes. Instead, the first season of "When The Day Breaks" will end with 8 episodes and it will be followed with another season.
"When The Day Breaks" will be based on the Chinese novel "The Long Night." It will depict the story of how the former forensic pathologist for the National Forensic Service becomes the prime suspect and a profiler who will help in the investigation. The story will unfold when one day in Seoul, a dead body is found in a suitcase.
The JTBC drama will be led by Han Seok Kyu, Jung Yu Mi, Yeom Hye Ran, Kim Joon Han, Ryu Hye Young, Lee Hee Joon, and more. The drama is helmed by director Lee Jeong Hyo ("Crash Landing on You" and "Criminal Minds.")
Han Seok Kyu will play the role of Jang Jae Wook, the former forensic pathologist who became the terrorist suspect. Jung Yu Mi will play the role of Yeo Su Jeong, the profiler who will investigate the situation.
"When The Day Breaks" will reportedly premiere early next year. It will be part of JTBC's Friday-Saturday drama timeslot.
This drama will be Han Seok Kyu's comeback to the small screen after two years. He last starred in the 2020 SBS drama "Dr. Romantic 2." For next year, it was also reported that Han Seok Kyu will return to the new season and will lead "Dr. Romantic 3."
"When The Day Breaks" will also be Jung Yu Mi's follow-up drama after 2020's "The School Nurse Files." The actress is also set to star in the upcoming movies "Sleep" and "Wonderland."
