Actor Kim Ho Won won the Best Actor Award at the 24th Jeonju International Film Festival for his role in the movie Small Fry
Kim Ho Won received praise for his outstanding performance as the protagonist Ho Joon - a not-so-famous actor who also runs a fishing YouTube channel - in the film. It is said that he captured the hearts of the audience and the panel of judges by depicting the pathos of ordinary people who crave success through the character of Ho Joon.
Kim Ho Won said, "As an actor, it's like a dream come true to see my film screened at a major film festival, and I'm immensely grateful to the Jeonju International Film Festival for making this dream a reality. I wanted to act in a good film, so I planned and produced this film with the director and played the protagonist. I will continue to love movies and acting with even greater passion in the future. I would like to share this award with Chae Young and Seong Hwan, who practised and performed beautifully with me for two months in the basement, which resulted in fantastic chemistry on set".
Small Fry tells the story of an enthusiastic YouTuber Ho Joon( Kim Ho Won), who is also an unknown actor in his 40s. After failing an audition, he heads out to a fishing where he meets the egotistical director Nam and the director’s actress friend Hee Jin. During this encounter, the three professionals bring out their several unresolved tensions.
