Kwak Si Yang, EXID's Ahn Hee Yeon, and Kim Min Kyu will be the main leads for the upcoming JTBC drama "Idol"

Media outlets reported on July 7th that Kwak Si Yang, EXID's Ahn Hee Yeon, and Kim Min Kyu are confirmed for the new drama. It will be broadcasted in the second half of 2021. "Idol" will be directed by "Clean With Passion For Now" director Noh Jong Chan and it will be written by "Misaeng: Incomplete Life" scriptwriter Jung Yoon Jung.

"Idol" will showcase the journey of failed idols who aim to succeed for once so that they can finally disband. It will depict the story of young people who realized a new dream after confidently letting go of succeeding as an idol. They will now pursue their new dreams as they learned through their failures. 

Ahn Hee Yeon will play the character of Kim Je Na. She's part of the idol group Cotton Candy who's already 6 years in the industry but is still not famous. Kwak Si Yang will play as the CEO of Cotton Candy’s agency Starpeace Entertainment named Cha Jae Hyuk. He's known as a cold CEO and only cares about profit. Meanwhile, Kim Min Kyu will play the role of Seo Ji Han. He's part of the popular idol group Mas under the same agency as Cotton Candy, Starpeace Entertainment.

"Idol"  will be produced by Transparent Arts ( Far East Movement and Girls’ Generation’s Tiffany's agency), TAKE2 MEDIA GROUP (producers of JTBC’s “Age of Youth 2” and KBS’s “Mother of Mine“), and JTBC Studio. The drama will showcase several performances that will be helmed by top producers, artists, and creators.

The upcoming drama is slated to air in the second half of the year.
