Tiffany Young
- Name: Tiffany Young
- Native name: 티파니 영
- Given name: Hwang Stephanie
- Also Known as: Hwang Mi Young, Tiffany Hwang, Stephanie Hwang, 황미영, 티파니 황, 스테파니 황
- Nationality: American
- Gender: Female
- Born: August 1, 1989
- Age: 35
Before debuting, she was encouraged by her brother to participate in a singing contest. She was spotted by a local SM Entertainment (SM엔터테인먼트) representative, auditioned, and was accepted as a trainee in 2004, moving to South Korea three weeks later.
She made her debut in August 2007 as the group's lead vocalist and sub-rapper with the single "Into The New World", part of their self-titled album "Girls' Generation", released in November of that year. They quickly became one of the most known South Korean figures and successful K-pop groups worldwide and have earned numerous accolades and been labeled as "The Nation's Girl Group". They rose to fame in 2009 with the single "Gee", which claimed the top spot on KBS's Music Bank for a record-breaking nine consecutive weeks and was Melon's most popular song of the 2000s decade.
Individually, she began working as a TV presenter for several shows but had to take breaks as she was diagnosed with vocal nodules in 2008 and had relapses in the following years. In 2011, she made her debut as a musical actress when she took the lead role in the South Korean production of the Broadway musical "Fame".
In April 2012, she debuted as part of the group's first sub-unit, GIRLS' GENERATION-TTS (소녀시대-태티서; also known as TAETISEO), alongside Taeyeon and Seo Hyun. They released their debut EP, "Twinkle", which became the country's 8th best-selling album of the year.
In May 2016, she made her debut as a solo artist with the single album "I Just Wanna Dance". The album, having a more American influence than typical K-pop, debuted at number three on both the Billboard World Albums Chart and South Korea's Gaon Album Chart.
In August 2016, during the SM Town Live concert in Tokyo, she posted photos that involved the use of the Japanese flag and the Rising Sun Flag imagery. Though there was no evidence of ill intentions, she was heavily criticized by the South Korean media as the timing coincided with Korean Liberation Day, stirring a historical war wound sentiment. She publicly apologized but had to step down from the variety show "Sister's Slam Dunk".
She left SM in October 2017 and paused her activities with the group as she returned to California to study acting and pursue a solo career. She debuted in the US with the single "Over My Skin" in June 2018.
She returned to musical theater in February 2021 with a role in the South Korean adaptation of the musical "Chicago", and she made her acting debut a few months later with a role in the JTBC drama "Reborn Rich".
She is represented by Sublime (써브라임).
