Nam Ji Hyun is reportedly in talks to star in the upcoming 8-episode drama from TVING.
On February 1, the media outlet Ilgan Sports shared that the actress will be the female lead for the drama entitled "Come to the Witch Restaurant". Nam Ji Hyun's agency "Management SOOP" was quick to confirm that the actress is positively reviewing the offer but has not yet decided.
The actress has been offered the female lead role. Her character Jung Jin is a 28 year old woman who was once an employee of a film agency. She was fired for voicing her opinion about unfair treatment in the office. With her house as a collateral and her severance pay, Jung Jin and her mother opened a cheonggukjang (soup with fermented soybeans) restaurant. Aside from Nam Ji Hyun, actor Chae Jong Hyeop (Hot Stove League) also received an offer for the drama. If he accepts the offer, he will play the role of Lee Gil Yong, a student preparing to take the General Educational Development (GED) test.
Nam Ji Hyun last appeared in the 2020 drama "365: Repeat the Year" with Lee Joon Hyuk. She also starred in dramas such as "100 Days My Prince" with EXO's Do Kyung Soo, "Suspicious Partner" with Ji Chang Wook, "Shopping King Louie" with Seo In Guk and more.
"Come to the Witch Restaurant" is adapted from the novel with the same name that placed third in the Kyobo Bookstore Story Contest. It is set to have eight episodes and will air exclusively on TVING, an over-the-top (OTT) streaming platform in Korea. Chief producer So Jae Hyun (known for his works "Memorist", "100 Days My Prince", and "It's Okay to Not Be Okay") will collaborate with writer Lee Young Sook for the upcoming drama.
