The long-term box office hit Next Sohee has officially been invited to overseas film festivals once again.

'Next Sohee' was recently invited to the pre-premier screening section at the French Telerama Festival hosted by Telerama, the French media, and AFCAE, which promotes cinematographic diversity through its theatre networks. This section selects the most noteworthy works among the films released every year. Among the numerous releases, only six are selected for screening at the festival.

Furthermore, the Bae Doo Na starrer was also selected as the opening film of the 41st Alle Film Festival in France and was officially invited to the 11th Helsinki Cine Asia Film Festival in Finland. The movie is set to hit foreign local theatres, particularly in France and Taiwan, in April.

Starring Kim Shi Eun and Bae Doo NaNext Sohee tells the story of a high school girl, So Hee (Kim Shi Eun), who dies a tragic death following her externship at a call centre. To get to the truth of the matter, a female detective Yoo Jin (Bae Doo Na) investigates the incident only to find shocking facts.

The Korean movie is divided into two parts. The first part deals with the story of the teenage girl So Hee (Kim Shi Eun), her struggles in the call centre, and the devastating incident that befell her. The second part focuses on Detective Yoo Jin (Bae Doo Na), where she goes in-depth into the matter of So Hee's death.

The movie was first screened at the 75th Cannes International Film Festival as a part of 'International Critics' Week' on May 25, where it received a 7-minute standing ovation.

Next Sohee went on to win numerous awards including the Cheval Noir Award for Best Director and Best Asian Feature silver award in the category of Audience Award (Fantasia International Film Festival), Special Jury Award (Tokyo Filmex), and UPJV Reference Award (42nd France Amiens International Film Festival), among others. And not to forget, it also garnered positive reviews from international critics and viewers.

The movie is lauded for its heart-wrenching storyline, spectacular performances, and engaging narrative that leaves the viewers deeply affected.

Moreover, the movie also proves to be a local box office hit in South Korea. Next Sohee surpassed 85,000 cinemagoers last week and is currently screening at about 100 theatres nationwide.
