Cold Blooded Intern tells the story of Go Hae Ra (Ra Mi Ran), who returns as an intern after a 7-year hiatus, receiving a secret and cruel proposal from the director of the product planning team Choi Ji Won (Uhm Ji Won), who was once her colleague.
Ra Mi Ran, who won the hearts of the audiences with her role as the unconventional mother in the drama The Good Bad Mother, generates buzz once again as she comes to play a working mother Go Hae Ra. Hae Ra is a woman in her 40s trying to get a corporate job after a 7-year hiatus. But the task proves much more difficult, even with her previous experience. However, she lands the position of an intern at a company where her former colleague Choi Ji Won works as the director of the product planning team. But there is a catch. Hae Ra must agree to the secret proposal set forth by Ji Won. But getting the job comes with another set of challenges as she navigates a tough workplace environment, portraying the reality of juggling work and family life. Her portrayal is expected to resonate with viewers, evoking empathy and solace.
The teaser focuses on Hae Ra's journey of re-entering the workforce. Once a respected MD in the industry, she had put her career on hold to focus on marriage and motherhood. However, she now takes on the challenge of re-joining the workforce as an entry-level intern. Determined to overcome her obstacles, she declares, "I will do whatever my superior asks, no matter how unfair the task may be", showcasing her unwavering determination. However, her former peer and now interviewer, Choi Ji Won, observes her closely. Then Ji Won makes a secretive proposal to Hae Ra, saying, "If you succeed, I will help you regain your former position as a manager".
While Hae Ra succeeds in her re-employment endeavor, her life as an intern proves to be more demanding than expected. Burdened with various tasks, she finds herself in a whirlwind of chaos. From dealing with office politics to even causing mishaps with the office copier, leaving her face and teeth covered in ink, Hae Ra faces comedic and challenging situations. Worried about her family's reaction, Hae Ra shares the news of her re-employment with her husband, Su Chek (played by Lee Jong Hyuk), without making eye contact and struggling to express herself clearly. Su Chek understands Hae Ra's unclear words and reacts with surprise to her intern job news.
Despite the brief duration of the video, it manages to evoke both laughter and poignancy, as viewers begin to empathize with Hae Ra's character. Additionally, the secretive proposal that could fast-track an intern to a managerial position piques curiosity. The production team stated, "Go Hae Ra has become accustomed to being known as someone's mother [referring to how people address mothers of children in South Korea], but now she wants to find her own identity. However, the workplace is never easy, whether in the past or present.
