"Revenant" Unveils New Stills, Featuring Kim Tae Ri and Oh Jung Se

The upcoming supernatural drama Revenant released stills of Kim Tae Ri and Oh Jung Se. 

In the K-drama, Oh Jung Se takes on the role of Yeom Hae Sang, a folklore professor hailing from an affluent family. Jung Se has a unique ability to see ghosts and spirits since childhood and has relentlessly pursued the evil spirit that killed his mother. One day, he encounters Ku San Young (Kim Tae Ri), who is possessed by the same evil spirit that took away his mother. He then decides to put his abilities to use to save San Young. 

The still cuts released by the production team portray the scholarly side of Yeom Hae Sang. He is seen lecturing about the familiar yet unfamiliar field of folklore and dedicates himself to researching various materials to uncover the identity of the otherworldly mysteries. 

The actor commented that he had pondered a lot about how to approach his character, and said, "I decided to follow his emotional journey little by little to understand why he started chasing evil spirits". 

He added, "Hae Sang encounters many people, who are exposed to danger, while chasing evil spirits. Sometimes he is able to help them, and sometimes he misses the opportunity to lend a hand. I hope viewers can see his kindness, as he never overlooks those in need and strives to help everyone he can". 

Meanwhile, Kim Tae Ri's stills portray the tough life of her character Ku San Young. 

In the drama, the actress plays the role of a hard-working woman juggling part-time jobs during the day to earn her livelihood while preparing for civil service exams at night.

 Despite the hardships and adversities she encounters, Ku San Young remains resolute in her determination to give her all. However, her life takes a drastic turn when she lays her hand on an object that brings upon her an evil spirit.

Anticipation for the series has soared to new heights as Kim Tae Ri comes to present two contrasting personas that viewers have yet to witness.

The recently unveiled still cuts showcase the two distinct characters the actress plays: the ordinary Ku San Young and the malevolent spirit that possesses her. 

Taking on her first attempt into the genre, Kim Tae Ri expressed, "The most appealing aspect was venturing into a genre I had not yet explored. Coincidentally, I had been exposed to various occult materials, but they mostly revolved around Western ghost stories. However, Revenant offered a fresh and intriguing Korean take on the genre". Regarding the challenge of portraying two distinct beings, she shared, "I immersed myself in each situation, striving to differentiate the characters through subtleness. It was crucial to convey a distinct presence despite having the same physical appearance. I hope audiences will keenly observe the nuances of the performance as they watch the series unfold".

Revenant will release on June 23 on Disney+.
