Seo Kang Joon will return to playing the role of a student in a new MBC K-drama.
On June 10, MBC officially confirmed that Seo Kang Joon will be the main lead of the upcoming K-drama Undercover High School. This will also be his comeback to MBC after almost 10 years since Splendid Politics.
Undercover High School is an action comedy K-drama that revolves around a man who hid his identity as a National Intelligence Service agent and goes undercover as a high school student.
Seo Kang Joon will portray the role of the NIS agent turned high school student while actresses Jin Ki Joo and Kim Min Ju will also reportedly be part of the cast.
Director Choi Jung In (Knight Flower and On the Verge of Insanity) and writer Im Young Bin (Bad Prosecutor and Sketch) will work together to produce the upcoming K-drama.
The representative of MBC shared, "I don't think there's any actor who best suits the role of an NIS agent disguised as a high school student other than Seo Kang Joon. Please anticipate the role of Seo Kang Joon who will showcase the funny, cool, and touching character in the series."
Undercover High School will be part of the Friday and Saturday K-drama timeslot of MBC. It will air in 2025.
In the series, Seo Kang Joon will portray the role of Jung Hae Sung. He is known for being an ace National Intelligence Service agent. After an accident during an operation, he got demoted. He then got assigned to undercover as a high school student to learn more about Emperor Gojong’s gold bullion. As he disguises himself, he starts enjoying high school life, which is not even his reality.
This will be the first K-drama of Seo Kang Joon since he was discharged from the military. The actor was last seen in the 2022 K-drama Grid.
