Watching movies, reading books, and listening to music is the real holy trinity of happiness and relaxation. I wish you all a happy weekend, where you can truly refresh and rewind!

I  didn't have a very definite theme in mind while writing this article, but most of these movies revolve around friendship, life, and nostalgia. Here are a few of my personal recommendations for weekend movies that I love and rewatch from time to time. <3

NOTE: THIS ARTICLE MAY OR MAY NOT HEAVILY FEATURE JUN JI HYUN. :)

1) Sunny

Country of Origin: South Korea
Release Year: 2011
Genre: friendship, comedy, romance, school, drama

The story follows seven girls who become best friends during their high school days, but they eventually fall apart and never meet each other again. 25 years later, everyone is now living far from perfect lives that they once imagined during their fun times together. One of the friends is dying due to late-stage cancer, and her last wish is to meet all six of them once again before she parts from the world.

Why you should watch Sunny:

Sunny is going to make you go from missing your friends to questioning your life. Our high school days are days when we are surrounded by friends and dreams. As we grow up and enter into adulthood, we let go of the friendships and throw away our dreams. We get sucked into society's cruel and hard ways of living. This story is a classic example of how this happens and why it should not happen for a happy and meaningful life.

The movie, which is set in the 80s and is filled with wonderful tracks from the 80s to set the right mood, is going to get you laughing and crying with the seven friends as we see the story switch from their teenage days to adulthood. (☆▽☆) Personally, I've lost count of the number of times I've rewatched this drama. This is my number 1 comfort movie which I'll never get tired of watching.

NOTE: A box of tissues is highly recommended to be kept by your side.

MY RATING: 10/10

2) Little Forest

Country of Origin: South Korea
Release Year: 2018
Genre: food, friendship, life drama

Hye Won, an MC, gets tired from living in the city and goes back to the countryside to her hometown for a break. There, she spends her days making different foods and spending time with her two friends and nature.

Why you should watch Little Forest:

This movie does not have a complicated plot or twists and turns. It’s just a simple story about healing through food and nature. Watching this will leave you fulfilled and relaxed. This movie is a light and simple watch to ease your mind a bit, although I warn you that you are going to be craving a lot of food. (~ ̄▽ ̄)~

NOTE: It is highly recommended that you have something to eat, or else you will be feeling hungry the whole watch.

MY RATING: 8.5/10

3) Our Times

Country of Origin: Taiwan
Release Year: 2015
Genre: friendship, comedy, romance, drama

Our Times is about Lin Truly, an office worker who goes down memory lane and remembers her naive and fun high school days where she somehow gets entangled with the school’s bad boy, while she has a crush on the school’s most popular boy.

Why you should watch Our Times

If you've read the plot, I agree it's no extraordinary story and is a classic trope, but this movie was somehow much more than that. It’ll get you laughing and rolling, and also touch your emotional side. You’ll end up loving all the clichés, along with the great acting and good music. If you like rom-coms, you will not regret this lovely masterpiece. ( •̀ ω •́ )✧

MY RATING- 9/10

4) Two Lights: Relumino

Country of Origin: South Korea
Release Year: 2017
Genre: romance, life, drama

Two visually impaired people meet at a photography club and fall in love.

Why you should watch Two Light: Relumino:

The plot is just one line, and this short and heart-warming story is only a 30-minute watch. This movie is made for those who don't feel like watching a long and heavy movie. It is the perfect combination of short and sweet, and will definitely leave you smiling and in love. I rewatch this from time to time when I get sad, and my spirits are almost immediately lifted.( ̄︶ ̄)↗

NOTE: BEWARE OF CUTENESS OVERLOAD!

MY RATING- 8.5/10

With that, we've come to the end, and I hope you enjoyed!

Let me know if you plan on watching any of these. Thank you for your time! ❤
