SBS's Friday-Saturday drama The First Responders Season 2 depicts an upgraded collaboration between firefighters, police officers, and the National Forensic Service as they confront unprecedented incidents.

Above all, in the third episode, Bong Do Jin (played by Son Ho Jun) was revealed to have died due to the second explosion of the material warehouse, adding to the regret. In addition, Bong Do Jin's sacrifice moved many when he ate the candle used as a 'fire delay device' to leave evidence of the serial arsonist even in the face of death.
Son Ho Jun shared his feelings about The First Responders Season 2 after the third episode, expressing his infinite respect and gratitude for his colleagues and the work in a 5-question interview.
The production team said, "From Season 1 to Season 2, Son Ho Jun has portrayed Bong Do Jin, who has both leadership and human qualities and has further elevated Bong Do Jin's charm," and "Son Ho Jun, who convincingly portrayed why Bong Do Jin earned the nickname 'Bulldozer' with his convincing performance until the end, worked hard, and we are thankful. How will the police, firefighters, and the National Forensic Service catch the arsonist after finally finding solid evidence due to Bong Do Jin's sacrifice? Please watch the fourth episode, which will be broadcast on the 12th, to find out."

Q. In the third episode, Bong Do Jin's death was revealed. You must feel regretful as you have been together since Season 1.

A. Even before it was revealed, everyone I met asked, "He's not going to die, is he?" So I was running around saying that it wasn't true. Looking back, I think the drama Bong Do Jin represents the firefighters; many people support and show interest in Do Jin.

I think it's a way to express my gratitude to those who protect us with their lives in places we can't see. I knew from the beginning that Do Jin would die in Season 2, so I didn't feel regretful, but I do feel regretful that I can't work with good people for a longer time.

Q. In the third episode, Bong Do Jin, even in the face of death, ate a candle used as evidence of the serial arsonist. Were there any difficulties or memorable moments during the shooting?

A. The scene where Bong Do Jin leaves evidence of the serial arsonist on his body was the best way to show Bong Do Jin. Even in the face of his own death, his act of eating a candle with the hope that such a fire would not occur again was reckless yet calm, and I was worried if I could express this aspect of Do Jin well. The shooting site wasn't technically or physically complex, but I was worried about expressing this aspect of Do Jin.

Q. In the third episode, Bong Do Jin finally puts a ring on Song Seol's (Gong Seung Yeon) finger, but it's revealed that it is a trap. How did you feel when shooting this scene?

A. I remember crying a lot while shooting the scene where I put the ring on Seol. I felt so sorry that I couldn't keep my promise. I was so sad that I wouldn't see my loved one again. Do Jin's tears didn't stop because he felt so sorry for Do Jin. The director suggested we shoot a subdued version, so I tried to shoot it that way, but it didn't work out.

Q. What kind of existence is Bong Do Jin to you, and how would you like viewers to remember him?

A. To me, Bong Do Jin was a grateful character who showed me the firefighters' gratitude, apologies, greatness, and thankfulness that I didn't know before. I hope viewers also understand the firefighters' gratitude through Do Jin.

Q. Lastly, could you message the viewers who have been with you?

A. Although Do Jin died, Ki Soo is the second Do Jin, In Joo is the third Do Jin, and Ji Hoon is the fourth Do Jin. Even though Do Jin is dead, he's not, so please continue to support the firefighters' team in the remaining episodes. The story will get more interesting afterward, so please watch until the end. Thank you.

The First Responders Season 2 Episode 4 aired on August 12th at 10 PM KST.
