tvN's highly anticipated Saturday-Sunday drama The Uncanny Counter Season 2: Counter Punch has officially commenced its preparation for release. On June 8, tvN released photos of the cast from the script reading session of the K-drama.
Directed by Yoo Seon Dong and written by Kim Sae Bom. The Uncanny Counter Season 2: Counter Punch follows the story of a group of supernatural beings, called Counters, who are tasked with the job of hunting evil spirits who roam the Earth seeking immortality.
Building upon the success of The Uncanny Counter, which achieved record-breaking ratings and became an absolute audience-favorite, the sequel promises an enhanced plot, an expanded cast, and fiercer face-offs with evil forces.
Reprising their roles as the demon hunters are Cho Byeong Kyu, Yoo Joon Sang, Kim Se Jeong, Yeom Hye Ran, and Ahn Suk Hwan, all of whom garnered immense love from viewers in the first season.
Joining the ensemble for season 2 are actors Jin Seon Kyu, Kang Ki Young, Kim Hi Eo Ra, and Yoo In Soo.
The script reading session of The Uncanny Counter Season 2: Counter Punch brought together director Yoo Seon Dong, writer Kim Sae Bom, and the major cast members, who demonstrated their determination and passion for a successful second season.
Director Yoo Seon Dong stated, "I feel a fresh sense of nostalgia. I'm grateful to the Counters and the existing staff members for coming together, and I warmly welcome the actors and staff members who have joined us for season 2". Actor Yoo Joon Sang also upped excitement for the K-drama by jokingly stating, "Let's go together until Season 7".
As the script reading commenced, the set buzzed with the excitement of the series. The upgraded abilities of the Counters, such as So Moon (Cho Byeong Kyu) evolving into the team's ace, Gamo Tak (Yoo Joon Sang) showcasing his unparalleled resolution skills, Do Ha Na (Kim Se Jeong) becoming more agile in her abilities, and Chu Mae Ok (Yeom Hye Ran) serving as the spiritual leader and healer, promise unlimited thrill through enhanced teamwork and intense action.
Additionally, the performances by Jin Seon Kyu, Kang Ki Young, Kim Hi Eo Ra, and Yoo In Soo added a blend of non-stop laughter and intense tension to the script reading session.
Jin Seon Kyu skillfully portrayed Joo Seok, an ally and passionate firefighter, and his dual nature as he straddles the line between good and evil.
Kang Ki Young captured attention with his portrayal of Pil Kwang, an evil parasite absorbing the Counters' abilities.
Kim Hi Eo Ra took on the role of Gelly, a purely evil character known for slashing and killing.
Yoo In Soo portrayed Jeok Bong, the rookie Counter, adding excitement and curiosity to the team's dynamics.
