Genom:Lol you think GO ahead had good romance story? Most comments in go ahead are about how weird it feels when second brother out of nowhere started love FL. And oldest brother love? Even though they gived him at least some prep work it felt weird.
In Family by choice its not that way. May be caused though by how in Go Ahead they created much stronger family bond than in Family by choice in first half of drama.
----------
as for actors I personally look out just for female actors and Jung Chae Yeon is for me prettier than Tan Song Yun. Seo Ji Hye was hella cute too, but dont even remember if that role had some counterpart in Go Ahead or they just added that role for second brother to get rid of awkward relationship he had in Go Ahead
I would say the romance equally as creepy in FBC because there is no adjustment period. The dude literally came back after 10 years apart and in the first two days confessed his feelings. So yeah...the "romance is better" argument is subjective cuz in my opinion is not. They laid the foundation for a better romance, sure. But it's not developed properly and feels rushed and out of place.
And the romance in the original being weird. Yeah it is. Because the show gives as real characters with flaws and emotions as it happens in real life. The same way Ziqiu confused his feelings because his friend kept messing with his head. That too happens in real life when emotions can't be defined as clearly as one think it should. The "romance" between JianJian and LingXiao is flawed as well because there is a strong emotional dependence on his part to compensate his lack of maternal love.
As for the actors. I'd say Song Wei Long and Huang in youp are equally handsome and equally mid in their acting, nothing out of the ordinary
And while Jung chae yeon may be more "beautiful" in your standards than Tan Song yun. There's no denying that in terms of acting the TSY is light year's ahead than her Korean counterpart. The same goes for Zhang Xingchen. Is like comparing Meryl Streep and Kim K's acting, Kim K might be "prettier" but her acting just lacks.
So I agree to disagree
Genom:was comparing to original Go Ahead. Most of drama I though its about grade worse ... like 8.5/10 meanwhile Go ahead is like 9/10.
At the end of drama I would grade both as 9/10
Family by choice version did much better at romance side in second part of drama for every character. Which was weakness of Go ahead.
------------
Go ahead did much better at building family relationship and wholesome moments in first half of drama.
---------
Forgot to add Family by Choice got more eyecandy and likeable young actors. As for fathers and mothers I liked more Go Ahead.
I agree. The romance in "Family by Choice" is beautiful. Maybe because they focused more on it in the drama, this is why they introduced it around episode 4 - 5. So we got the time to see it bloom. I appreciate that.
I am not fan of weird sudden attraction like in "Go Ahead", nor do I like Invasion of privacy when a character doesn't ask for female lead's consent to kiss her while she is sleeping. It is just disturbing.
The two dramas did good in their own way. GA is about family ties and FbC is more about romance.
Moreover nothing againts korean counterparts playing fathers, but Tu Song Yan was just GOAT in that role.
Genom:Moreover nothing againts korean counterparts playing fathers, but Tu Song Yan was just GOAT in that role.
No doubt about that. I noticed the shortcomings of the two fathers role. They did their best and I appreciate that but they should have been tormented more. and I could not catch this well in Family by Choice. Why? A lot of factors can steal an actor's performance :
- the editing can cut the actor's performance (this happened to Mickey Rourke in Ironman 2) ;
- the main focus being the romance between the lead, some scenes could have been deleted or not filmed ;
- or the actors could not reach that level of acting.
I don't know what it was. But yes Ju won's father did not make me cry.

Tan Songyun is the best and the only one. No reason to discuss about it. female korean one should quit entertainment since Family by choice have no actors. They can't act, and it's a fact. That's why they chose idols rather than seasoned actors.

probably because Go ahead IS NOT a romance story, so it's trash and cringe changing the plot in that way? Tan songyun is prettier than the korean actress, which is probably lesbian. So please, go to see a doctor if you find pretty those u***ly actors.
Annette:Get a life please. we get it, you love the original and hate on anything else, thank you for your time and consistent efforts on hating on an actually nice and interesting drama
nice and interesting in what? having nothing? there is no trauma, no love story, no development, no plot, no acting, only cringe thing. And i am disgusted that people are so blinded by an u***ly cast to see how garbage this adaptation is.
If Go Ahead wasn’t a romance story, I bet it would get better reviews. Sadly, unless you only watched the first half, you can’t say it’s not about romance. The Korean adaptation at least tried—and successfully fixed—the second half. As for being worse at the family theme, worse doesn’t mean horrible.
------------
as for Tan Songyun.... taste is not up for debate.
Jung Chae Yeon not sure if she lesbian, but who cares?
Do you really need judge whole life of actor just to decide if you liked him/her in some drama/movie role or not? Quite hate that type of thinking which is mainly in asia quite foolish.
How many actors gets cancelled for small slips up. Happens in western world too since they are public figure, but leniency is in totally different level.

I agree, unfortunatly some asian fans are very toxic, they make artists suicide because they harrass them.
I couldn't care less about artists private life or appearance. All I care about is their work. In my country, private life is sacred and nobody cares. I hope this kind of respect could be seen in asia.

successfully tried when no Go ahead fans like it. Nice joke.
Stay in you kcringe corner with u**ly actors like the one portraying sanha.

Oh, Your Highness with an egotism complex. I count as a Go Ahead fan too, and I like FbC.
Your right to speak for others is about as valid as a dung beetle's right to claim all the feces in the world.
This conversation ends here. At least for me, it's useless to continue in this thread.
Have a nice day.

you missed the point that this is NOT a kdrama but a remake, and the only valid point is the comparison coming from the original, that everyone in the world already watched. People here for the u***ly cast have no right to speak. You don't count as a Go Ahead fan since you can't even distinguish u**iness from beauty and you can't even notice details. romance, you say? guess why Go Ahead fans saw not even a friendship in this cringe trash adaptation, and you talk about romance?
FbC has no romance, no friendship, but they put perfectly strangers acting in a very weird way like mentally ill people. Try to explain logically to Go Ahead fans how a girl without any female friends or any female figure can grow being a clearly lesbian ending covering her homosexuality marrying someone she doesn't know.
there is no point in this thread if it's made by people not even being able to analyse the portrayal since FbC has homosexuals characters and no heterosexual ones.
Have a nice day, liar.
