Okay, this might not be an important discussion but I still want to talk about this. I see a lot of people describing her character as the terms above-mentioned. I'm glad it wasn't mentioned on MDL description tho.

Her character is really a contradicting one. It is said she lacked empathy and she also mentioned that she was born that way. But as we watched 3 eps in, we all know she wasn't bc then why would she care if her parents would be able to eat meat if she go through the show, if she was born a sociopath/psychopath? I think the Jeokmok  plays a huge part of her becoming like that, and so she was not hopeless, I guess just had a lot of rage inside her. The same reason why ML was helping her. Bc he has known her as a child, a child capable of empathy.

Also, her impulse on doing things like getting the insurance money for the current case shows her having empathy. She just not doing it for the sake of it, i don't think she even plans on keeping that money.

I know sociopaths and psychopaths can still feel emotional attachment to others but it will not be possible without intervention. They won't be able to do it on their own will I guess?

These two characters are just really interesting. I would appreciate someone who's more knowledgeable to share their thoughts on this.

Ps. I also know this is just a drama and didn't need to be 100% accurate, but still would like to read your thoughts about this. :>

[Upto EP 3]

Aggressive, hostile, feels no guilt (probably). She has stabbed an officer. She has threatened her cell-mate, and her probation officer. Let's not forget that she literally tried to kill someone in the hospital. Would've gone through with it too if not for the (nosy) ML.

She has no issues lying to and manipulating others for personal gain. Well, she's a con-artist. She's good with words and charming. She lies to the ML about how she wrongfully suffered and how no one believed her to make him sympathize with her and help her file for damages (was it necessary though?).

She only cares about herself. When she got hold of the phone, she only checked that she was not in it. Once she confirmed that, she did not care what happened.

Impulsive and risk-taking. She brings all the money she "earned" in the casino in a bag when she knows a probation officer is looking after her. She does not bother closing the door when she's trying to "euthanize" the patient. How much effort was actually put into planning this?

Ok, the insurance fraud case. She does not get why the mother of the insurance fraud case didn't want to settle. "Expecting society to pay the price [for the choices she made] is cowardice." "If someone killed your child, you must <do some disturbing things> to even be considered family." "If she has conscience, she should know to gladly pay the consequences for her own actions." - Ms. Empathy, about a mother who lost her child.

She's highly-opinionated (?) and amoral. "It's what softies do. Those who believe that law is justice." "Revenge is always justice." She also thinks ML is living an inefficient life (by talking to the client), when revenge is the only solution here. The only reason she cares about the insurance fraud case is to prove a point "Let me show you some magic too."

These are all typical traits of anti-social personality disorder.

But but, she cared about her parents having meat! (Edit: /s)

Maybe the institute (?) really made her this way. Or she became like this after witnessing her parents killed gruesomely in front of her. Or perhaps she was indeed born different. Regardless, I think sociopath or psychopath is the correct description for the FL.

I have a hard time to understand what separate a psychopath from a sociopath (especially because most of people use those term wrongly)... I read that sociopath are more impulsive while the psychopath organize everything beforhand. The FL seems more like a sociopath but in episode 4 she explained step by step how she scammed the couple and it felt more like a psychopath because she made a plan.

In my opinion she was made into a sociopath after the murder of her parent (she saw the whole thing after all). " Psychopaths are born, and sociopaths are made " She clearly was not a sociopath when she met the ML as a little girl (proof with how she wanted to stop being used but still continued to make a living for her parent, a sociopath would just think about themselves) . When she watched her parents' death she "locked" her emotions and stopped to feel empathetic to defend herself. I think at some point the ML will help her open up and feel emotions again (I can picture a moment where ML is injured and she will feel sadness for him ? )

She makes me think of the ML in Flower of evil if you know what I means. So far so good, I love the characters and the story !

Well, first of all both sociopathy and psychopathy are not 1:0 cases. It's less of - one is or is not psychopath, but rather one has more and one has less psychopathic traits. She has far more than average person, that's for sure.

I'm not exactly expecting a realistic presentation, but knowing shows like that, she will miraculously learn how to care and empathize with people by the end, but in real life, whenever she was born or made that way, she would most likely never be "normal" or rather "average" in these aspects. She is far past the most crucial developmental stages in terms of emotional and moral development, her brain ain't plastic enough to catch up anymore.

What she for sure has is antisocial personality disorder, she checks most of the diagnostic criteria.

Honestly i don't think she has antisocial personality disorder at all. I didn't get any malicious intent (besides trying to murder the man that may have killed her parents or harmed her) from her at all, she is just trying to scare people and make a living so she can live in peace. She is just a con-woman, not a serial killer in the making.

I do think she has issues, but she does not qualify as the stereotypical idea of a psychopath or sociopath in my opinion.

Also, i cheered her on when the guard was stabbed. He was a pervert and had it coming tbh.

malicious intent is not needed to be diagnosed with antisocial personality disorder tho. She hits more or less all diagnostic criteria. Disregard of law that leads to criminal behavior ✅ lying, deception and manipulation for profit or self-amusement ✅ impulsive behavior ✅ "Irritability and aggression, manifested as frequently assaults others, or engages in fighting" (she did stab the guy afterall. Tho this one is probably the least obvious in her behavior) ✅disregarding safety of your own and others ✅irresponsibility ✅lack of remorse ✅

if she would not be diagnosed with antisocial personality disorder, no one would ?

She a Sociopath because it removes a bit of empathy Psychpath is not able to do that.

I don't think she either.  She is extremely damaged, and she is cold; however, she does care for and love others; you can see that she never actually went after Nasa, Dajung, or Ringgo. She manipulated them and bossed them around; there were times when she was cruel, but she never actually hurt them. You can also see that Mooyoung melted her heart because it was the first time anyone actually genuinely cared about her. She's extremely damaged, but she is not truly psychopathic or sociopathic.
