I watched the series City of the City to kick Bai Yu Fan's ass and also to watch the acting of such strong actors as Yu He Wei and Qu Gao Wei. My God, who is cast in the lead roles in Chinese dramas! Just look at Bai Yu Fan: a lob-eared misunderstanding, and not an ounce of acting talent. Bai Yu Fan is another great friend of that scarecrow who climbs into the lead roles alongside good actors so that they can cover up his absolute mediocrity. It makes me laugh to see how the so-called friends of that scarecrow are going out of their way to please me. :):):)
Bai Yu Fan probably thought I liked him in Minning Town. Not at all. I just lied to trample on the character of Ma De Fu and the freak who acted him. And Bai Yu Fan rolled his lip all the way down. :):):) Tell me, who could like such a crooked, myrrhousy and lob-eared creature like him? Since that scarecrow is a goat, Bai Yu Fan can safely be called a goat of the goat. This resonates so much with the title of the drama City of the City, doesn't it? :):):) Don't let Bai Yu Fan think that I've forgotten what a great friend he is to that scarecrow, how he has licked his ass and how many dramas he has acted in with him. Don't think that I don't remember anything or notice anything. I notice every little thing, every detail. I have long since decomposed all of you, goats, into atoms.
For me, the series was saved by all the other actors, whose performances I could not find fault with. First of all, it's Yu He Wei. I've seen several of his roles, but I liked him best in City of the City. Apart from the fact that Yu He Wei still looks good enough for his age, his acting is also impressive. I am speechless from his character in the drama Zhao Hui. Despite the fact that how much of a scumbag he was in the series, Yu He Wei acted him in such a way that he couldn't be forgotten. No, I didn't feel sorry for Zhao Hui, I didn't make excuses for him. It's just that a really strong actor should be able to perform any role well, including the role of the bad guy. And Yu He Wei did that. Bai Yu Fan could have learnt a lot from Yu He Wei in terms of acting, if he had even a drop of acting talent and intelligence.
Tao Wu Ji could have been a hundred times better and brighter if he had been performed by a different actor. There are many talented young actors in China, but few of them are cast in leading roles unless they regularly kiss the Chinese Communist Party's butt. The first actor who came to mind when I started watching City of the City who could do a great job as Tao Wu Ji was Yuan Hao. For those who don't know, he has portrayed Mu Zi Zheng in Love in Flames of War. After I saw him in that series, I couldn't forget his great acting. How much better the drama City of the City would have been if it was Yuan Hao who acted the role of Tao Wu Ji. Unfortunately, we will never know or see this anymore.
I would have been even more excited if Joseph Zeng had performed the role of Tao Wu Ji. He would have fit in perfectly with that collective of tall and handsome older men. Not to mention the ratings the drama would have had: 10/10. Do you know what's the funniest thing about this situation? The role of Tao Wu Ji, who achieved career growth without connections, was acted by the actor who got the role through connections.
Once again, I had to lower the score of the series because of the lead actor. But I couldn't do otherwise: I couldn't turn a blind eye to the fact that the main role was acted by a talentless person. But I really liked the drama. If it weren't for that goat Bai Yu Fan, I would have given it a 10. It's not a boring finance show, as some people think. It's much more than that. There's so much expression and heartbreak here that you don't see even in tragic love dramas. However, unfortunately, not without propaganda of the Communist Party's ideology in the thirty-ninth episode. That propaganda scene was clearly superfluous.
The amount of lies, hypocrisy, intrigue and manipulation in the drama caused me to have heartburn while watching it. But this is an indicator that the events in the series are shown quite truthfully. I was sick to my stomach of those bastards with fat wallets and a guilty conscience. What happened in Zhao Hui's life in the first episodes of the series was a test for him from God. He had at least a few options for solving his problems in life, but he chose the worst one and failed the test. Zhao Hui is a subtle manipulator, the best manipulator of all in the series. Just look at how he hides all his disgusting actions behind his daughter's illness. The only character in the drama I really liked was Miao Che. He is just like me: tough and principled. A real army general.
I couldn't tell you how many signs of God I saw in the drama. I cannot describe them all to you, but I will mention the main ones and the ones that are most memorable. Literally at the beginning of the first episode, I saw a lot of pots of anthurium in the bank. I had never seen so many anthurium flowers before. I have only one small pot of anthurium at home. Shenmao Bank should have been named Anthurium Bank. :) The most interesting thing was that all those pots of anthurium were on the ground floor of the bank, in the department headed by Zhu Qiang. And I also saw sunflowers in the drama.
Again, the series repeatedly mentions the numbers “3”, “4”, “7”, “8”, “9”, “12”, “25”, “30”, “33”. In the fifth episode, Zhu Qiang mentioned the apostles Peter and Paul. :) In the seventh and ninth episodes, they were also mentioned. In the tenth episode, at 32:08, the name of Jesus Christ appears in the English subtitles, just like in Queen Dugu, and at 38:27 and 38:37 of this episode, both Christ and God are mentioned. In the thirty-first episode, Zhao Hui mentions twenty-four years. This is an allusion to the twenty-four elders on the twenty-four thrones mentioned in the Apocalypse of John the Theologian.
In the thirty-eighth episode, Zhao Hui mentioned three sums of money in a conversation with Shen Jing: 600 million, 60 million, 6 million. If you add up all these amounts, you get the number “666”, which is mentioned by the Apostle John in the Apocalypse. It is the number of evil, cruelty and greed. This number is not only the number of satan and the antichrist, but also of all those like them, including all the shameless and greedy ghouls in the drama. The opening credits of the drama show the puppeteer's hand controlling the puppets. This is how God rules people and controls everything in the world. Nothing happens without His will. Zhao Hui tried to escape from God throughout the series, but he failed. And that scarecrow will not succeed either.
The series also mentions the numbers “35” and “44”. For example, in the fourth episode, Tao Wu Ji pushed the lift to floor 44. This is the highest floor. In total, Shenmao Bank has forty-four floors. In the third episode, it was noted that Zhao Hui was appointed vice president of the bank's branch when he was thirty-five years old. In the fifth episode, Zhu Qiang mentioned 3.5 percent. In the fourteenth episode, Wu Xiao Fei mentioned thirty-five percent. And in the twenty-first episode, Tao Wu Ji mentioned 3.5 million yuan.
In the drama, I saw the capital English letter “Q” in many places. This is the first letter of Qu Gao Wei's surname. I also saw the capital English letter “W”. I hope you can guess what it means. We have finished with the letter “G” and moved on to the letters “Q” and “W”. :) Even in this drama, I have seen statues of lions, one large statue and one small one. I also saw images of deer. In the twenty-second episode, at 15:29, there is a picture of the lion Simba above the bed. At the beginning of the twenty-fourth episode, Tian Xiao Hui's T-shirt has the words on the front: “THE SUN COMES UP”. In the same episode, at 39:25, the inscription “Whose cute puppy is this” appears. And now remember who I have called a cute puppy in my review of Romance on the Farm. :):):) Also, in the thirtieth episode, I heard about Qu Gao Wei's height of 180 cm and the height of that scarecrow of 150 cm. Do you know what the most amusing thing about the series is for me? The fact that the main hero is from Shandong. :)
The drama recalled the Three Musketeers. Obviously, that story caught the fancy of Chinese showbiz representatives, especially “d'Artagnan”. :) Tao Wu Ji, Hu Yue and Cheng Jia Yuan in the series are not only like the Three Musketeers, but also like the golden trio Harry, Hermione and Ron, just like Shen Nuo, Man Er and Thirteen in Romance on the Farm. It was cute when Cheng Jia Yuan was ashamed of being promoted because of his connections and apologised for it. It shows that he is a good, pure-hearted guy. I loved that gold bracelet with two butterflies flying together that he gifted to his beloved lady.
Yes, I saw butterflies again in the drama, as well as the image of a tigress. The opening credits of the drama show many black umbrellas, and among them there was a red one. That's me under that red umbrella. :) I was born to stand out, not to be part of the grey mass. In the ninth episode of the drama, water with honey was mentioned. It was the water with honey that the protagonist of the book by Maggie O'Farrell The Marriage Portrait, Lucrezia, gave one of the characters. It looks like someone has followed my advice and read that book. :)
In the third episode, Tao Wu Ji gifted his girlfriend with turtles. Si Ma Yi also liked to play with a turtle in The Advisors Alliance and Growling Tiger, Roaring Dragon. It was funny to hear those jerks Guan Jun Wu and Ma Hong say the famous Chinese proverb “Just when you say “Cao Cao”, Cao Cao is here” in the twenty-eighth episode after their meeting with Zhao Hui, considering that Yu He Wei had acted Cao Cao before. :)
In this drama, a girl and a boy are named Rui. Judge Di's Mystery also has a girl with this name. There is a reference to cypress trees in the drama. In Judge Di's Mystery, there are also plenty of cypress trees. In the drama, Zhao Hui's wife's name was Li Ying. And in Judge Di's Mystery, there is a character named Di Ying.
In the seventh episode, the Swan Island project was mentioned. On my favourite lake, I often see two swans swimming together. I have a picture of two swans swimming together on the lake that I have embroidered many years ago. Now I see in real life the picture I have embroidered. In the fourteenth episode, Zhou Lin took out two large bags of rubbish. On the day I watched that episode, I also took out two big bags of rubbish. Also in this episode, it is said that Tao Wu Ji is very attractive to mosquitoes. I am also attractive to mosquitoes, so I hate them. :) I have nets on all the windows in my apartment so they can't get to me.
In the fifteenth episode, Zhou Lin said that she would never be anyone's mistress. I don't know whether she has said this sincerely or not, but these her words can be attributed to me. I will definitely never be anyone's mistress. This is not only my life principle, but also the rule of my life. It is good that I have always listened to God in this matter. In the twenty-second episode, the Lujiazui Central Greenland in Shanghai was mentioned. This reference is God's hint to Greenland, which Trump wants to take away.
In the twenty-fourth episode, Zhao Hui presented his daughter with a bouquet of flowers that included daisies. The day I watched that episode, before I watched the episode, I bought a beadwork kit with large daisies in a basket. I had wanted to embroider daisies for a long time and finally found the right kit. In the twenty-ninth episode, Zhao Hui bought a bag of oranges. The day I watched that episode, I bought a bag of oranges too.
In the thirtieth episode, Zhao Hui has said that today's young people don't like tea. This is true. It started with my generation. But there are exceptions. For example, I love tea, and I don't drink coffee at all. That's why I like China's tea culture. And in the thirty-ninth episode, I heard the phrase “As long as you're alive, there will be hope” again, which I have heard in many Chinese dramas. A good phrase.
The drama City of the City features actors from Tribes and Empires: Storm of Prophecy, and those are the ones I'm happy to see, because not everyone from the cast of Tribes and Empires I want to see. Thanks to Feng Jia Yi for showing in the series what kind of playboy that scarecrow is in real life. It's called “Yu Xin Ji sent Muyun Sheng to the ass” :):):) He did the right thing. I actually wondered why he put up with him for so long. :) There was a beautiful red-haired wench in the drama. When Su Jian Ren saw her, he got all tense, especially in one place. :):):) Obviously, the prototype of Su Jian Ren in real life is the scandalous Chinese banker Liu Liange, because Su Jian Ren is very similar to him. Liu Liange was so vicious that he even forced his son to break off his engagement to his fiancée and then married her himself. This is the true “elite” of the CPC.
What can I say about Qu Gao Wei and his role. In the role of Zhu Qiang, our “kindergarten teacher” revealed himself to the fullest. :):):) Every time I saw Zhu Qiang in the drama, I wanted to smile. I even invented a suitable nickname for him: “Mr. Pleasing”. :):):) It made me laugh especially when Zhu Qiang “flew on the wings of love” to Zhao Hui every time he saw him. Qu Gao Wei has again parodied that scarecrow who also serves his superiors in the same way, especially his beloved Xi Jinping (so that they burn together in hell in the same cauldron forever).
Zhu Qiang also is similar to that scarecrow in that he, like that scarecrow, does not understand the difficulties of people in general and women with children in particular. I had a boss like Zhu Qiang. He pretended to be kind, but in reality he was doing things behind my back and setting me up. For those who have insulted me, there should be separate boilers in hell to make it even hotter, because I can't tell you in words what kind of bastards they are.
I have no complaints about Qu Gao Wei's acting in the drama or his performance in general. He deserves much better roles than the ones he acts. However, I have a different kind of complaint about him. While watching City of the City, I have decided to go through his filmography again and have came across this propaganda: https://mydramalist.com/66457-yao-lan. What is this, Gao Wei? Sins of Youth? :):):) It doesn't seem like it, considering that the drama is from 2021. Unless it's a second youth. :):):) I understand that he loves children, but he needs to know the right amount. In 2021, he was clearly pulled in the wrong direction, just like me. :):):) The drama City of the City mentions the Sunshine project. Qu Gao Wei also suits the nickname “Sunshine”. I call him that often. Except for that propaganda series of 2021, I like the dramas he stars in, at least the ones I've watched, and the directors he works with. I want to see him more in Wen De Guang's dramas.
Eh, everything is good in Qu Gao Wei, except for one thing: it takes him a long time to get it. He probably never realised that I've been in love with him for a long time. I hinted it to him, God hinted it to him, but he understood nothing. So, being afraid that I would be used again and suffer again, after I watched Dr. Tang, I pushed him away and ran to other actors' dramas. I ran like that for seven months, but as a result, I came to the point from which I started. :):):) Because that's what God wants.
And now I'm going to tell you something even more interesting — the secret that Qu Gao Wei hides. Because this is what God wants too. Yes, Gao Wei, now I will reveal all your secrets. :):):) And his main secret is that he has been in love with me for a long time too. I know this for a fact, because we have long been physically and emotionally connected from a distance. But it's not the same as the connection I had with that scarecrow: back then, I felt like I was on fire. Now it is a completely different feeling: a pleasant warmth throughout my body, warmth in my soul and heart. I not only feel his state and mood from a distance, as well as how he reacts to my reviews, but also, pardon, physically feel his sexual attraction to me. This is what “two become one flesh” means. This happens only between people in love. And for love, there is no distance, no time, no age.
Now the Great Lion Jesus Christ is opening the gates of the fortress in which I am staying to Qu Gao Wei. If he does not enter in time, the gates will slam shut with a terrible crash that will send him flying at least ten metres away. I advise him to take the chance and enter the fortress through those gates, because otherwise he will spend the rest of his life cuddling with a pillow. Of course, Christ and I will give him some time to sort out his thoughts, heal his emotional wounds, and make a decision. But I want to say that he will not go anywhere from me, because if he has not forgotten me in seven months, he will never forget me.
In fact, I'm an even cooler kindergarten teacher than Qu Gao Wei. I can discipline him too... with a whip... I'm joking, I'm joking. :):):) The interesting thing is that I've always liked men who are much older than me, so I've “caroled” such one for myself. :):):) But Qu Gao Wei doesn't look his age. When I watched Dr. Tang, I thought he and Kim Jin were about the same age. Then I was very surprised to find out that Kim Jin was eight years younger than him.
No matter what decision Qu Gao Wei would made, he was the first to listen to my opinion and my feedback. You can see it in his roles. Yes, yes, I notice everything. We would have made a great tandem not only in love but also in creativity. He is exactly the “muscles” I need to realise my brilliant ideas. In the opening credits of City of the City, I saw the tall, round tower that I have repeatedly mentioned in my previous reviews. I am just a few steps away from reaching its top. I hope that not only “Aslan” but also “Simba” will be waiting for me there.
In the end, I would like to recommend you to watch the 2013 biopic film by Ron Howard called Rush. I first saw that film in the cinema and then watched it many times at home on the TV because I was so excited about it. In that movie, I saw for the first time the actor Daniel Brühl, who just perfectly acted his role. A wonderful actor. And guess who I liked out of the two main male characters in the film. Of course, Niki Lauda. After I watched that film, my favourite car became a red Ferrari, because it was the red Ferrari that Niki Lauda drove (by the way, Niki Lauda came from a dynasty of Austrian bankers).
I am still in awe of this movie. There are several reasons for this. Firstly, it's about racing. It's Formula One! What a romance! Not all women will understand me. But why are you surprised at me? When I was a child, I played not only with dolls, but also with cars and guns. And for the university entrance exams, I was preparing watching the legendary 2006 football match between France and Italy, in which Zinedine Zidane punched Marco Materazzi in the stomach with his head for insulting his mother and sister (he did the right thing, in his place I would have also punched him in the face; you can lose a match, but you can't stop being a real man). Secondly, this film is biographical, about two real persons, it's history. And thirdly, it is a confrontation between two opposing characters, sides and worldviews.
Having watched this film many times, I could never have imagined that I would meet the prototypes of these two male characters in real life. After watching this film, you will immediately guess which of the Chinese actors is Niki Lauda and which is James Hunt, with the difference that the prototype of Niki Lauda is as handsome on the outside as he is on the inside, and the prototype of Hunt is as ugly on the outside as he is on the inside. Well, and I am like Marlene (although I dress more like Suzy :).
To “James Hunt”, that is, to that scarecrow, I would like to say the following: you have lost, now live with it for the rest of your life. I hope your life will not be long. But it's not the end yet. The end will be when I destroy you. That scarecrow thought I would do to him what prostitutes did to him in brothels. Let him learn to do it himself, and practice on Chupa Chups. :):):)
I have always thought that a man who doesn't like football is not a man. Why didn't I remember that when I fell in love with that scarecrow? He doesn't like sports, only poetry. And I don't like poetry, especially Chinese poetry. When in Romance on the Farm Wu Zhong Lian started to make business riddles at the bosses' meeting, I thought, “ Thanks at least it isn't poetry”. :):):) That scarecrow had no idea that he had stumbled upon a real man and a real woman in one body. I'm going to make him experience what that means. That pathetic narcissist with a black hole for a soul had run into a tough super-empath.
In my opinion, it was Niki Lauda who won at the end of the film Rush, not James Hunt. This is proved by the following Hans Zimmer's music track from the film: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o0FOx761enU. Niki Lauda, like me, lost only one battle, but he won the war... and I would do.
P.S. I would like to see the faces of Chinese and not only actors, distorted with anger, jealousy and envy of Qu Gao Wei, when they would read this review. That's right, scream, you freaks. You deserve it. To those cretins who are still hoping to get me, I will say the following: I am not a victim to be got; I decide myself whom to choose and whom to love, because a woman is also a subject of relationships, not an object, or a victim, or a monkey in a zoo.
