We always talk about the shows we love, but what about the ones that just didn't make the cut?

Whether you lost interest after two episodes or forced yourself halfway through before giving up, I want to hear about it.

  • Which drama did you drop recently?

  • How far did you get before quitting?

  • What was the dealbreaker? (Bad pacing, annoying characters, toxic romance, plot holes, or just plain boring?)

No judgment here—feel free to rant or share your unpopular opinions!

Mine is Eternal Fragrance (a chinese drama)

Pull Strings until 8/30 on 22/08

To each their own.

Mid episode 8 I feel something was off, fast forward it 4x just to complete episode 8 before I bid farewell. I should've listened to my first gut feeling rather than forcing myself to watch it because it seemed funny + I need one xianxia title with stronger FL for a watch challenge. It's not that bad but it's not that good. It's funny sometimes and not funny the other times. It's a harem drama and ML hiding his actual power because he read the books (he was transmigrated). I have mixed feeling about the jokes, the story, and FL. ML was fine, SFL was cute, the others were okay. The use of green screen was pretty obvious, but natural at times. The VFX was fine imo.

The drama really dragged up a bit in Ep 8

i also recently dropped it but at ep 17.

i was afraid of not having dramas to watch after The road to splendor But now their is THE EARLY SPRING and am loving itThe-Early-Spring-2026-Chinese-Drama-200x300.webp

The Early Spring has a nice plot, but I have mixed feeling about Sun Qian in romance drama. I don't feel she is suitable for heavy romance drama. She seems like a goofy person. I also feel the same about Zhao Jin Mai. She seems to be inexperienced. Maybe it's just me. As for Jing Bo Ran... I have no say. He's pretty funny in Monster Hunt.

I recently dropped Gochisosan at episode 66 because there's too many episodes missing from the website I used. It feels like I already skip more than 5 episodes. Episode 67 should work but it freeze every 2 seconds. I'm going crazy. I'm so sad, I already prepare to see Suda Masaki as Watanabe Anne's son. He's one of my favorite actor. And he's a hopeless romantic irl, cute.

It's unrelated to dropped dramas, but I guess I'll switch to Manpuku (about Nissin's founder) which is available on Netflix for asadora to watch as an entry for a watch challenge. Apparently Netflix and NHK have some kind of cooperation, according to a rumor I read on reddit, so the users can expect more good dramas to come.

You also Watch japanese dramas, Please recommend me some short ones cuz the one you listed have quite a large number of episodes

Actually I never watch long Japanese drama except Oshin (because it's on TV) and Gochisosan that I dropped. Oops.

I haven't watch many Japanese romance dramas, but since romance dramas are universally loved, maybe I'll recommend some not so new happy ending romance drama:

A Calm Sea and Beautiful Days with You ML (a navy officer who's alone in this world) and FL had an arranged marriage. Slowly they start knowing each other.

Hold My Hand at Twilight FL being dumped by her long distance boyfriend who promised to marry her so she had to earn money to build her grandma an elevator iirc that her boyfriend promised her as a dowry. FL and ML (an aspiring idol) live together later. They already met twice before living together iirc.

Nice Flight! ML was a co-pilot/first officer and FL was an air traffic controller. They can't be more different, except for their love for aviation. ML adored FL without knowing that it's FL so SFL pretended that she's the one ML adored.

Silent ML left without a words because he's suffering from hearing impairment so fast forward a few years now FL and SML (ML's bff) dating and living together, but then they all met again.

Why I Dress up for Love ML and FL can't be more different, so when they live together they started bickering about whose lifestyle was the right one (there's another 2 + 1 people who also live with them) but they also get attracted with each other.

I see that you also watch BL, I'll recommend a few titles:

Love Is a Poison One was a lawyer, one was a conman. As the conman helping his work, he agreed to let the conman live in his apartment.

Our Youth One of them was a model student, the other one was a delinquent who got beaten by his father. But by chance they became secret friends.

Perfect Propose MC was overworking by his company, one day a young man came to live in his apartment and taking care of his every needs.

And if you don't mind bad ending, you can try:

Eternal Yesterday One rainy morning, his best friend and secret crush died from getting hit by a car (white pick up maybe) and became a living death. They then kept living their life like usual but the clock was ticking.

The Diamond Sleeping in the Sea FL saw the man who looked like her first love so she went after him and decided to help him find his goal in life while ML help her find her first love. It went back and forth from present to past, with the actor playing ML in the present and ML in the past. The romance happened between ML and FL in the past.

okay thanks ^ ^ probably start with love is a poison it has a catchy title
