🎉 Assalamu Alaikum everyone! 🎉 |
It's great to see a community where Muslims and anyone interested in Islam can come together through a shared interest in Asian movies and dramas. |
Since this group is new and everyone is welcome to post respectfully, I thought it would be fun to start a thread where we can:
|
|
We'd love to get to know the members of our new group! Feel free to share as much or as little as you're comfortable with. |

Let's brainstorm some ideas for future discussions!
Below are a few discussion ideas that came to mind. Nothing is set in stone—we simply wanted to share them and see which ones the group would be interested in.
~ And if we're missing something, post your own thread idea! I'll keep this post updated with everyone's suggestions so they're easy to find.
Possible Discussion Thread Ideas
Ask a Question You've Always Wanted to Ask About Islam | A welcoming place where Muslims and non-Muslims alike can ask sincere questions about Islam. Members are encouraged to answer respectfully, cite reliable sources when possible, and acknowledge that different scholarly opinions may exist. |
Read Along: Complete the Qur'an Together | A community Qur'an reading challenge where members work together to complete a full Qur'an khatmah. Each participant continues from where the previous member stopped, may read as many pages as they wish, and is welcome to share a favorite verse or brief reflection afterward. |
Cultural Similarities Between Asian Cultures and Muslim Cultures | Explore traditions, customs, family values, etiquette, clothing, food, celebrations, and everyday practices in Asian cultures that resemble those found in Muslim communities. Members can share examples from movies, dramas, documentaries, or personal experiences. |
What K-Drama/C-Drama/J-Drama Would Be Considered Halal After a Few Modifications? | Recommend dramas that have positive stories but contain a few scenes some Muslim viewers may prefer to modify. Discuss what small changes would make them more suitable while keeping the conversation respectful and avoiding debates over religious rulings. |
The Muslim Entertainment Corner | Share wholesome entertainment such as nasheeds, Islamic songs, animations, inspiring videos, artwork, photography, documentaries, or any creative content that promotes positive values while keeping Islamic values in mind. |
Ayah or Hadith of the Day | Share a Qur'anic verse or authentic hadith that inspired you today, along with a short reflection or lesson if you'd like. |
What Surah or Verse Are You Listening to Today? | Share Qur'an recitations you've been listening to recently, your favorite reciters, English translations, or reflections on verses that have touched you. |
Cast your vote below, and feel free to explain your choice or suggest another idea in the comments!
As more members join, I'll keep this post updated with everyone's thread ideas so we have one easy place to find them all.
~ Thanks for voting! |

Now it's over to you! Looking forward to getting to know you all and reading your suggestions.
~ Towards the end of his life, Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) would supplicate before leaving an assembly thus: "Subhanaka Allahumma wa bihamdika, ash-hadu an la ilaha illa Anta, astaghfiruka wa atubu ilaika (O Allah, You are free from every imperfection; all praise is for You. I testify that there is no true god except You, I ask Your forgiveness and turn to You in repentance).'' A man once said to him: "O Messenger of Allah! You have spoken such words as you have never uttered before.'' He said, "It is an expiation of that which goes on in the assembly.''
Assalamu Alaikum everyone! Let me introduce myself, My name is Eesha, derived from عِيشَةٍۢ رَّاضِيَةٍۢ in Surah Al-Qariah, meaning “life of bliss.” On different platforms, I go by the name Eeshall, which means “a flower of heaven.” I am from Pakistan and live in Lahore. I am 22 years old, i joined mdl in 2020 .
I can speak Urdu, the national language, Punjabi, the provincial language, and English, the official language. I also know some Arabic, as I studied it from 5th to 8th grade and learned to translate some parts of the Quran from Arabic to Urdu, so I can easily recognize and understand it.
I’m currently in my 4th professional year at university, with final exams coming up in a month or two. I first got into Korean dramas back in 2016 while on vacation at my grandma’s house. I came across a TV channel showing them, though I didn’t realize they were Korean at the time. I ended up watching three dramas in Urdu dubbing " Empress Ki","My Love from the Stars", and "Heirs" — one after another. That was the start of my journey into East Asian dramas, though I don’t really call them Asian since Asia is vast and I also live in South Asia. In 2018, when I got my first tablet, I started watching more dramas, though not excessively. By 12th grade, I had my own phone, and later in university, I received a laptop on a merit basis, which really set my drama-watching habit adrift, lol. Now I’m studying medicine, and that’s all y'all , Looking forward to getting to know everyone here.
Assalamu Alaikum.
First of all thanks to @Ivy for starting the thread and personally inviting me to come here.
I will go with my online name Timi and I'm from Malaysia. I speak natively Malay and a little English. I understand some Japanese but very rarely have the chance to speak.
I learned Islam in my language so I may not be that useful when it comes to discussing in depth Islamic info in English. I don't know Arabic except some common words or the borrowed words that already become part of Malay.
Nice to meet everyone!
Oh yeah I don't become member of this group yet because I want to see where it's going. Furthermore, I still can see the discussion without being the members.
