Sorry for spoiler if those haven’t watched it. Both ML and FL are great actors, just the plot a little messy because it was written by many screen writers. Overall a good drama.

Yes @ Megumi-H, I was refering to KMLM. 

I initially believe what you just said. But when I remembered that the maids servants refered to Mei Lin as the Empress. It hit me, at that point of time.

She could not be named Empress if she hadn't received the decree during her life. MRJH was crowned 5 years after the first snow (if the date of the coronation is good). So Mei Lin lived at least 5 years to be crowned Empress. 

So it is a kind of Happy Ending. 

Indeed her body was damaged. She could not survive long.

I don't know what happened in the novel.  But I heard they lived happily ever after. 

It is not that I want to believe it, I am just trying to understand it. The directors like to loose us with clues.

I bawled during RanYi’s death and PSJ’s didi’s death. I do not know why I suddenly stop crying during ChengHuang and Fei’s story. I really fall for Fei but don’t know why I didn’t bawl like before. Maybe the sadness was repeated on and on that I feel boring? Or they added so much humor? However the sadness and heartbreak is there.  Feel painful for them but just could not cry anymore. Suddenly tears flowing on and off at forgotten what episode was that and when reach 30 started bawling throughout till episode 34 so tiring hahahha

I will rewatch. I need that. Anyone with me?

I cried at all the sad scenes, just a few tears (beauty cry) for some. And Niagara Falls tears for others. Ugly cry for the I think some of the final parts. 

I don't mind a rewatch but need to replenish my tear ducts first before a full on rewatch. My tear ducts have very good plumbing, I dispense a lot of tears.

When I watched it, I thought it was that he married her, she dies after 1 year, and 5years later he was crowned, he  still chooses not to wed and crowned her as his Empress which he can, since he is the Emperor and chooses to wed one wife. Then he grew old, passed his crown to next generation and die.  It’s unusual but he is MuRong JingHe, he can choose to do what he likes…lol! Or like Joas said screen writers can do what they like in story. 

I thought she would die in one year because it was repeatedly mentioned by the Dr about her poison that has no cure and will die in one year, that was mentioned in his last fight to war.

Anyway, I find your take and observation very sharp, giving me a new perspective to consider;)

I had the exact same theory as you had. Because, this is what the show let us understand. But today, as someone asked me about the ending. I pieced the events  together and it hit me. 

Honestly I am very pleased that at least they could spend time together after all those hardships. Even if, to understand that, we had to rely on clues. 

Moreover, I am happy that now this drama feels less bittersweet. :)

I see that you had invested a lot in this drama and your observation is really good. I remember you commented to me about the drama was about humanity and all. Btw do you watch kdramas as well? Their clues were so much better I feel.

What can i do @FIONA it is a beautiful story of redemption choosing justice instead of revenge. Yes exactly, it is about leaving the dark path of death to go try to live a human simple life.

I know that there are flaws. So many writers created a second arc ( 6 writers ) . This arc was too long in my views. But the first arc is wonderful and I love Mei Lin as a badass assassin.

Yes Kdramas  are less difficult to decipher.
