I read someone comment on YT that TTJ as emperor (after the bloody wedding) was more cruel in the novel. He even had YBC as his concubine during YXW punishment. Is that true?

Oh definitely! TTJ was way more cruel in the novel. That's why some TTJ  drama fans could not take the novel version. 

Yes, he took in YBC as his concubine after XL died and gave her special treatment. That's why YXW always thought TTJ loved YBC and not her.
