Not much japanese drama  i watched but below are some from my watch list

Border, ourosbros, bloody monday 1&2, koizora, 1 litre namida, mother 

Old drama :GTO , gokusen series, shomuni, ice world, with love.

Most from Kimura Takuya are good watch. Nankyoku Tairiku, Mr. Brain, Ando Llyod: AI Knows Love, Long Vacation (one of the classics), Engine, Priceless (and a whole lot more)

You could also probably try Suki na Hito ga Iru Koto, it's not that old though,
