The Ultimate Guide and Discussion Board for Asadora (Japanese Morning Dramas)

Hey guys, I am using Asadoras to supplement my Japanese learning and I would like to ask, does anyone know of a place where I can get Japanese subtitles for Asadoras? Thanks in advance!

Definitely any of those three faves I mentioned - Hiyokko, Hanbun, Aoi or Natsuzora. You can't go wrong with any of them, I think! :) And welcome kinda back! Haven't gotten to spend much time on here lately either. Finally went to Japan and you better believe we went to Hokkaido after seeing it in First Love and Natsuzora :D

Yet another asadora set in Kochi prefecture (the previous one being Kamiki's Ranman). Hope they will come up with fresh cast this time around!

It's been a long time since I posted here but I wanted to stop in and quickly promote my own asadora subbing project.

I am subbing "Sakura" a 2002 asadora about a fourth-generation Japanese American girl who goes to Japan to rediscover her family roots and teach English in rural Gifu. I have subbed 10/26 weeks (60 episodes) since July, and the next batch of six will be ready to go by the end of this week!

Despite being one of the highest rated asadoras of the 21st century, this drama is a total hidden gem. One of the reasons it's a bit unknown is because, until last year, it was essentially lost media. There was no DVD release and of course, no streaming at all since it's from 2002. But then, more than twenty years later, NHK finally rebroadcast it. So, it's finally available and the video quality is great!

It has everything there is to love about an asadora: great comedy, great romance, beautiful and touching moments, plus an eclectic cast of characters. Also has fun bilingualism, cultural misunderstandings, and quite a few non-Japanese actors in prominent roles!

If you're looking for a new asadora to watch, I hope you'll consider checking it out!

I remember groink praising Sakura in early 2000, so at some time in the past I think it's been broadcast on NGN.
Highlights of Sakura has been released on DVD.

Yes, it did have a 40-episode DVD release at one point.
Hardly enough to really enjoy the full drama, and incredibly difficult to get a copy of!
Very happy the full drama is now easier to access :D I am really enjoying subbing it.

Im still waiting on Ranman to be subbed. Subber said she was going to, then no update for 6 months and nothing since.
