Hey guys. I'm a fansubber for a music group. I used to have my own fansub group, but I dropped that to join a larger group. We sub Japanese PVs (music videos). We get the lyrics and translations online and basically typeset, time, and encode it. I'm happy with the way things are, but I want to branch out. Basically I want to start my own fansub group that subs dramas and there's a reason why. Almost every drama I've downloaded is far worse than anime when it comes to quality. Not video quality (well yes that), but overall quality. The English isn't always correct, they hardsubbed the video using either a bad font or put a light colored font with no outline, so it's hard to see on light backgrounds, and the video quality is poor.
This is generalizing of course. There are plenty of good dramas releases out there. I just want to start a fansub group that prides itself on quality. Clear fonts, correct timing, high quality videos, and correct translations. I'm prepared to do most of the work until I get more staff members, but what I need now is a translator. Someone who is fluent in Japanese and English and can translate Japanese dramas for me.
One thing I always have a problem with regarding dramas is unlike anime they can be subbed very slowly. Not always, but for example with Mirai Nikki Another World I waited months for the last episodes to be released. After a while I had to search on Google until I found the last ones. I want to take on ongoing dramas and release the new episodes quickly. If you share my dream, are fluent in Japanese and English, and want to help me sub videos please reply to this thread.
