Recommendation for first timers

oh dark stuff, my cup of tea. if shes fine with a romance id recommend Byakuyako ( a twisted romance, a romance that started from a crime and ended in tragedy).

tbf, for dark stuff you are better off with some japan/korean thriller movie, they are as twisted as they can get.

In general I would recommend any one of the Reply series. They are a good balance of contemporary history, humor, and the value of family and friends. Since your friend enjoys dark shows I would recommend One Million Stars Falling from the Sky. If she is interested in movies and/or drama specials let me know since I enjoy dark plots as well.

Your friend might also like Black which is dark, yet quirky. And school 2015 is another would be School 2015 which gets into the darkness surrounding bullying but oddly has 2 romance lines in it because of the way the story is designed.

I personally recommend Oh My Venus and Healer to first-timers though.
