Hi! I have seen a few Korean, Chinese and even Thai  but I haven’t seen any  from Japan. Can someone recommend any beginner friendly Japanese historical drama?

Maybe Tempest?

If you don't mind longer ones (50-episode drama), the one I highly recommend for "beginners" is Atsu Hime.

Tenno no ryoriban (not heavily focused on historical..it's based on the life of Japan's emperor's cook)

Jin

This is the only one that I've seen, but it's good.  It's about a doctor who goes back in time to the Edo period.

Thank you so much for your recommendations :)

@something  It's from the same writer as Atsu Hime, idk  which  one to start with.

@kura2ninja  I have a weak spot for gender-benders, i'll surely give this a try.
As long as i get hooked, i don't mind. The longest one I've seen it's about the same length (Jewel in the palace)

@The blue sky  Looks like my kind of drama, the  only thing that has  me worried is the "based on a true  story",  i'm expecting  a really sad ending.
@mjf314   Sounds like the kdrama "Faith" that i really liked.
