I'd love to know what is the purpose of this group? and what sort of posts can be written here? cuz it honestly seems out of place for a platform as this.

i'm not entirely sure buy 'i'm hoping its to support people education and spread love and peace as there's a lot of bad rumours and false information {(especially in Facebook )

if you have any questions let me know

It can be hard to find other Muslim friends with similar interests, especially living as a minority or convert in the West.

Muslims are supposed to encourage their companions to do good things, and advise each other with kindness and sincerity.

As a Muslim, it's important to not get overly attached to such worldly things and become distracted from doing good deeds with our limited time here, hence there is value in being around people who remind you of God, charity, volunteering, etc.

My intention with this group is that Muslims can find other friends with the same hobbies, share the message of Islam with those interested, and also help break negative stereotypes that lead to dehumanization and the crimes we see in the world today.

You can post anything here as long as it isn't posted with malicious intent.

As a muslim, I am confused. Why is there a muslim group here? doesn't seem like it fits here. ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜ถ

Feels very inappropriate....

Elaborate on why

First of all, this website is meant for entertainment. It displays haram content such as explicit material, LGBTQ topics, and other forbidden subjects. It also discusses fictional topics like dramas, actors' lives, and more. This seems inappropriate for this platform. I feel like its presence here mocks Islam.

I addressed those in my earlier post.

God is always watching you.
Islam is a holistic way of life-- it doesn't stop existing when you log into a website or watch TV.

Hence as I said earlier, there is benefit in watching things with Muslim friends who can remind of you right and wrong, and keep you away from inappropriate content.

If you're ashamed to watch something with a Muslim friend, maybe it will make you think twice about watching it. After all-- if you wouldn't watch it front of your friend, why would you watch it in front of the All-Seeing.

By your logic, Muslims shouldn't congregate, exist, or speak of their beliefs, on any social media site due to the even worse content that may be present on there.

If you truly believed this platform was 'mocking Islam' as a Muslim you wouldn't be here typing comments in the first place.

You have a rather strange conception of what a Muslim is or should be, everyone has varying levels of religiosity and growth, and as a Muslim I don't think you should want to kick out Muslims from any website and stop them from expressing their beliefs or meeting other Muslims.

If the people and topics on this website are as dangerous as you claim- that's more the reason Muslims should befriend each other.

Muslims are a diverse people, from various cultures, some are new and learning-- and there's space for everyone that is sincere.

Entertainment itself is broader than what you think. Yes, there are inappropriate contents and some time-wasting-non-beneficial (LAGHW) elements being discussed in MDL. You are the one who control yourself to what point of Laghw you want to get immersed with.

That being said, entertainment can include "information" and "knowledge" as well. There are tons of movies, dramas, and variety shows that give viewers information and (new) knowledge, directly or indirectly. Simple example is when you watch a drama of a country, you will learn about the culture, language, manners, way of thinking, and many more of the people of that particular country.

In the end of the day, it's how you deal with "entertainment" is what matters. I totally agree with Admin's quote:

This is very well put and spot on!

Back to the purpose of the "Group". There's no specification on what is allowed and what is not. So people don't have to be that "shocked" seing a group such as this. I guess as long as everyone is following TOS of MDL, it will be fine.

BTW, I hope this group can be more active. Some suggestions the members can do (so that this group doesn't viewed as out of place or off-topic):

  • Create a list of Islam or Muslim representation in dramas/movies from lesser-Muslim populated Asian Countries (most of MDL countries).

  • Correct the misrepresentations of Islam in dramas/movies. Discuss what is right if you're able (or knowledgeable) to.

  • Share more dramas/movies from Muslim countries (that's not in MDL) that represent Islam in the rightful way.

Great post, JazakhAllahu khair.
