the sleeping detective:
First of all, this website is meant for entertainment. It displays haram content such as explicit material, LGBTQ topics, and other forbidden subjects. It also discusses fictional topics like dramas, actors' lives, and more.
Entertainment itself is broader than what you think. Yes, there are inappropriate contents and some time-wasting-non-beneficial (LAGHW) elements being discussed in MDL. You are the one who control yourself to what point of Laghw you want to get immersed with.
That being said, entertainment can include "information" and "knowledge" as well. There are tons of movies, dramas, and variety shows that give viewers information and (new) knowledge, directly or indirectly. Simple example is when you watch a drama of a country, you will learn about the culture, language, manners, way of thinking, and many more of the people of that particular country.
In the end of the day, it's how you deal with "entertainment" is what matters. I totally agree with Admin's quote:

IlIlIlIlIlIlllIIllIl:
Islam is a holistic way of life-- it doesn't stop existing when you log into a website or watch TV.
This is very well put and spot on!
Back to the purpose of the "Group". There's no specification on what is allowed and what is not. So people don't have to be that "shocked" seing a group such as this. I guess as long as everyone is following TOS of MDL, it will be fine.
BTW, I hope this group can be more active. Some suggestions the members can do (so that this group doesn't viewed as out of place or off-topic):
Create a list of Islam or Muslim representation in dramas/movies from lesser-Muslim populated Asian Countries (most of MDL countries).
Correct the misrepresentations of Islam in dramas/movies. Discuss what is right if you're able (or knowledgeable) to.
Share more dramas/movies from Muslim countries (that's not in MDL) that represent Islam in the rightful way.
