https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/W6dQzi3
One of the most affectionate, down-to-earth, wholesome slice-of-life dramas!
Exceptionally detailed in every aspect: not even one character is unnecessary, not even one line or moment of silence is in excess, not even a scene is a filler...
A real gem and a well-deserved 10/10 in my book. -
2. Mouse
Korean Drama - 2021, 20 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/dDoxwiB
Dark, heavy and very sophisticated.
Unique and tightly knitted plot, masterfully woven characters and interconnections, gripping story-telling.
With some mind-blowing plot twists, top-notch acting, superb cinematography, directing and music and a performance of a lifetime from Lee Seung Gi, this drama is definitely and outstanding watching experience. -

https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/e1yA5Cy
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/WKXWYT3
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/QbR10F8A slow-burn but intense and very engaging story, with a well-writen, tight plot and a stellar cast with top-notch acting, especially from the talented and charismatic chameleon Kim Nam Gil.
Not for everyone, since it's not the typical action-packed story, but rather a procedural and slowly rewarding, yet fascinating, journey of some ordinary, flawed but hard-working police officers towards understanding and thus successfully profiling the twisted minds of some evil serial killers.
A must-watch for those who like psychological, procedural, intriguing stories :) -
4. Koi Desu: Yankee-kun to Hakujou Garu
Japanese Drama - 2021, 10 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/v1drwux
Cuteness overload!
A refreshing, bright, wholesome rom-com, with a delicate touch of coming-of-age, family, friendship and social awareness.
A great watch :) -
5. Soratobu Kouhoushitsu
Japanese Drama - 2013, 11 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/e2xvyiy
A wonderful drama, full of talent and soul.
Brilliant writing and acting, unique teamwork chemistry.
Impressive character depictions and dialogues, perfectly balanced subplots, and some of the most fulfilling character development and healing progressions I've recently watched.
Aragaki Yui and Ayano Go were outstanding, but I must admit that Shibata Kohei was the real scene-stealer, as one of the most adorable and considerate chiefs ever appeared in a drama.
Wholeheartedly recommended! -
6. Koisenu Futari
Japanese Drama - 2022, 8 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/RL2dBhP
Delicate, beautifully affectionate story of a young woman's journey to self-awareness of her aromantic and asexual identity, and an honest, realistic representation of aroace people.
Heartwarming and thought-provoking, with detailed attention to many issues it addresses and impeccable performances from Kishii Yukino and Takahashi Issei.
That talented man never disappoints... -
7. Lost
Korean Drama - 2021, 16 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/e6Zv2Ty
A rare gem!
Deep, desperate, painfully personal, hauntingly beautiful.
Full of loud silences, unbearable loneliness, raw emotions and so much love wanting to be given... -
8. Silent
Japanese Drama - 2022, 11 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/1Vo6pyTZ
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/479XJ7H7
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/2WLw0tA
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/QR5rPh8
Silent words, silent feelings, silent people.
Delicate, subtle, slow-paced, poetically beautiful.
Full of loud silences, words and feelings left unspoken, and eye-opening glimpses of the "silent world" some people live in.
A wonderful story, more of a slice-of-life and character study than a pure romance, that focuses on the importance of communicating/expressing our feelings and thoughts, as well as being honest about them.
Superb acting from the cast: Kawaguchi Haruna, Suzuka Ouji, Kaho, Kazama Shunsuke and, especially, Meguro Ren who was simply fantastic in this!
He could convey all emotions, from heart-wrenchingly sad to genuinely happy only with his face micro-expressions and gesture, without speaking a single word... -
9. Iribito
Japanese Drama - 2021, 5 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/pZbN7IP
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/4LlwWTA
A captivating mystery drama with superb performances from Mitsuki Takahata, Sumire and lady Kaji Meiko.
The ethereal, eerie cinematography and music, the wonderful, delicate paintings and setting, the intriguing story...
Highly recommended! -
10. The Red Sleeve
Korean Drama - 2021, 17 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/3DNQXWf
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/1XQyE7Uk
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/Qoz0oc8
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/LOjlw2t9
A sad, intense love story, beautifully dressed in a technically exceptional sageuk format, with superb cinematography, lighting, colouring and costumes, and beautifully fitted music.
There were many memorable characters and cast members, but Lee Jun Ho's compelling, nuanced performance undoubtedly stood out among them.
Politics and scheming were used only as a supporting background and were left undeveloped, which made the story feel somehow flat and incomplete or even disconnected some times, but if watching this only for the heartbreaking love story, it was an exceptional experience. -
11. Racket Boys
Korean Drama - 2021, 16 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/k1vV4uJ
A feel-good and heartwarming coming of age story about friendship, teamwork and character growth - and badminton!
Though overdramatic and cheesy sometimes, it was an engaging watch, with a well-balanced amount of comic and touching moments. -
12. Boku no Aruku Michi
Japanese Drama - 2006, 11 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/q1O5ASp
A beautiful, warm and inspiring story, about the every day life of an autistic young man living with his family and working as an animal caretaker in a zoo.
Kusanagi Tsuyoshi portrayed the demanding role of Teruaki flawlessly, with a subtle and realistic approach, while the rest of the cast, especially Teruaki's mother, depicted beautifully their struggles and worries while supporting him.
Though dealing with a difficult, challenging subject, the story never becomes overly melodramatic or distressing, and the tears it may cause are tears of pride and accomplishment rather than pity or misfortune.
Highly recommended! -
13. Reset
Chinese Drama - 2022, 15 episodes
Masterfully crafted story full of suspense, mystery and cliffhangers.
It was worth every minute and time-loop of it!https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/0XvxwFN
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/WKNY2T3 -
14. Oi Handsome!

15. Twenty-Five Twenty-One
Korean Drama - 2022, 16 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/e2lk3Ty
Refreshingly unique blending of slice-of-life, coming-of-age, sports, friendship and romance genres.
Exquisite production, superb acting and a story that could have been a masterpiece if not for the sloppy, rushed closure for most of the characters... -
16. Extraordinary Attorney Woo
Korean Drama - 2022, 16 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/jD0LYFj
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/0VQVdiN
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/xlJLACl
With a unique theme and a very strong, engaging start, this drama was a breath of fresh air. Watching the fantastic performance of Park Eun Bin as attorney Woo, the cutest cutie pie with her radiant, heartfelt smile walking around, waltzing and talking about whales was the most engaging thing I’ve watched for a long time!
Her relationship with her dad, her mentor (the amazing, scene-stealer attorney Jung, aka Kang Ki Young) and her two female besties were fascinating from start to finish.
Even though I had some noticeable issues about the actual legal cases depicted and -most importantly- the romance lines and some characters’ development, overall it was an enjoyable and memorable watch. -
17. Mouse: The Predator
Korean Special - 2021, 2 episodes
Mind-blowing storytelling from the predator's pov, showing things that were intentionally cut out in the previous drama episodes.
-
18. Love Between Fairy and Devil
Chinese Drama - 2022, 36 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/1xVAwJto
A fast-paced, well-written and beautifully filmed story about the epic forbidden love between a devil and a fairy.
Wonderful, meticulously designed set-ups for every realm and clan, lavish costumes and decorations, well-fitted music and songs, and a balanced screen time for all characters and subplots.
Dylan Wang's majestic, fierce and totally captivating antihero Dongfang Qing Cang and his funny as well as touching transformation was a pleasure to watch and the best part of this engaging drama! -
19. Hoshi Shinichi no Fushigina Fushigina Tanpen Dorama
Japanese Drama - 2022, 20 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/EWeyJh3
Brilliant adaptations of Hoshi Shinichi's short stories with a witty, inventive, thought-provoking (and at times borderline sneering) approach, full of allegories and impactful messages, caustically tackling some timely social issues.
Great cinematography and music, many familiar talented faces among the cast. -
20. Yonder
Korean Drama - 2022, 6 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/4KkJ6kha
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/dDELvTB
A biting social commentary wrapped in sci-fi/futuristic/mystery layers done right.
Philosophically challenging and thought-provoking concept questioning our views and beliefs about loneliness, grief, memories, dream and reality, life after death, heaven, happiness.
Top-notch production quality, wonderful cinematography and music, and a superb performance from chameleon Shin Ha Kyun in a captivating, binge-worthy outcome. Highly recommended! -
21. Shizuka-chan to Papa
Japanese Drama - 2022, 8 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/1NqXDOu0
An bittersweet, emotional as well as honest and heartfelt depiction of a loving family of two: a born deaf father and his CODA (child of deaf adult) daughter. A realistic, eye-opening approach of their relationship and everyday life, without any sugarcoating or preachy tones.
Their bonding, co-dependance, bantering, differences, problems, unconditional love and acceptance were superbly portrayed by Shofukutei Tsurube and Yoshioka Riho, while her exemplary character growth and sweet romance with Nakajima Yuto were a pleasure to watch.
Highly recommended! -
22. First Love: Hatsukoi
Japanese Drama - 2022, 9 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/QRXYqT8
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/qXANpcp
Full of nostalgia, longing and that unique heart-fluttering feeling of first love...
Though the story isn't something groundbreaking or cliche-free, it definitely grew on me and made me root for all main characters.
Top-notch cinematography, production, music and acting were definitely a great plus, while the best advantage was the refreshing, scene-stealer Kido Taisei and his genuine smile!
And what can I say about Mitsushima Hikari, this talented elegant lady who excels in all her roles, gifting us with superb performances every time she appears on screen... -
23. Shadow Detective
Korean Drama - 2022, 8 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/rJO1vF5
An intriguing, gritty noir story, with a tight plot and fantastic dynamics between the main leads.
Beautifully written and directed, superbly acted (especially from Lee Sung Min), with one of the most powerful ending scenes I've recently watched.
Highly recommended. -
24. The King of Pigs
Korean Drama - 2022, 12 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/4lVVeCA
A dark psychological thriller, extremely disturbing, violent and raw.
A fast-paced and solid story of the revenge and traumatic aftermath derived from extreme school bullying.
Brilliant use and transition of flashbacks, tense directing and music, great acting from the cast playing both young and adult characters.
Hauntingly beautiful and thought-provoking. -
25. Imawa no Kuni no Alice Season 2
Japanese Drama - 2022, 8 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/BKK3yfE
Binge-worthy, intense, thrilling and totally engaging, just like the 1st season, with a satisfying closure.
More focused on the players and game masters backstories, with girl power vibes all the way! Kuina, Ann, Akane and the "Queen of Hearts" were fantastic.
But, I have to admit that Chishiya and Yamapi were definitely the highlights of this season! -
26. Kishibe Rohan wa Ugokanai Season 2
Japanese Drama - 2021, 3 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/Rn51QCP
Takahashi Issei ? in a quirky, bizarre and very fascinating comeback! -
27. One Ordinary Day
Korean Drama - 2021, 8 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/4LVKqCA
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/kD6eqIJ
Gripping story, solid cast and acting, superb production, directing, cinematography and editing, but an anti-climatic and somewhat rushed ending.
Though Kim Soo Hyun and Cha Seung Won were great in their roles, I must admit that Kim Sung Gyu was the outstanding dark horse in this :) -
28. Okashi no Ie
Japanese Drama - 2015, 10 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/qvB7rFp
A cozy slow-paced and laid-back slice of life drama, about the beauty of simple things in life, the comfort of hanging out with our childhood friends, the warmth of being our true selves with our loved ones, and the bitter-sweetness of growing up and leaving our childhood selves and memories behind.
Outstanding acting, especially from Odagiri Joe and a touching, meaningful ending song. -
29. Avalanche
Japanese Drama - 2021, 10 episodes
A very engaging action/revenge drama, with a well-crafted plot (with lots of cliffhangers and twists), solid performances, great team work and chemistry.
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/0XdJAhN -
30. Juvenile Justice
Korean Drama - 2022, 10 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/RddVBFP
An intense, edgy law drama with well-built, realistic and thought provoking cases of juvenile offenders.
Exceptional production and performances, not only from the main cast but also from most of the supporting cast members.
The somewhat preachy and contradictory social criticism of the last episodes made the plot a bit uneven and over-dramatic, but overall it was a great watching experience. -
31. Business Proposal
Korean Drama - 2022, 12 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/e2v5Jiy
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/j11zXij
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/B4X8EIE
Such a fun watch!
Though definitely an over the top rom-com, with a predictable plot and every possible cliche included, it was very enjoyable :)
All characters and sub-stories were delightful, all the tropes were presented in a refreshing way.
Special mention to the most iconic harabeoji and Young Seo's cousin and her impeccable english! -
32. Mystery to Iunakare
Japanese Drama - 2022, 12 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/E42rBc3
Kuno Totono is such an intriguing character and I love, love his curly hair and expressions!
Suda Masaki, all supporting and guest actors did a marvellous job in this.
Can't wait for season 2, with more of the ongoing and new cases he's involved in :) -
33. Soundtrack #1
Korean Drama - 2022, 4 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/jJ2K0Fj
So many of my fave tropes in this short but sweet and fulfilling romance story done right:
Unrequited Love, Friends To Lovers, Cohabitation.
Pleasantly surprised :) -
34. Definitely Not Today
Chinese Drama - 2021, 8 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/Zedlgtx
A bit weird, a bit dark, but definitely a unique, quirky concept and a refreshing, funky direction and editing.
Time well spent :) -
35. The Sound of Magic
Korean Drama - 2022, 6 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/4JW3BFA
A coming of age story with a top-notch production: cinematography, visuals, effects, music, acting and, especially, the magical, mystical atmosphere was really captivating.
A feast for the eyes and ears! -
36. Tomorrow
Korean Drama - 2022, 16 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/dnN6XCB
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/6AWb4Cl
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/2lLqnhA
A fascinating watch, not only for the various social issues it addressed in all of its episodes, but mainly for the unique idea of the Grim Reapers' trio and their mission, the classy and stylish Jumadaeng headquarters and all of its members' wardrobes.
The most memorable elements were Kim Hee Sun's husky voice, pink hair and red eyeshadow and Kim Hae Sook's majestic appearance, while the most disappointing one was the limited screen time of suave Lee Soo Hyuk . -
37. Ototo no Otto
Japanese Drama - 2018, 3 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/d6zVjcB
A beautiful, deeply humane story about family relationships, homophobia, prejudice, acceptance, regret and grief.
With well-balanced emotional and comic moments, and without being over-dramatic, cheesy or preachy, this short drama was a bittersweet and heartwarming watching experience, that was worth every minute of it. -
38. Fight Song
Japanese Drama - 2022, 10 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/e6gzmcy
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/wR0g4FE
A beautiful love story with some wonderful friendship and bonding between all characters, and one of the most adorably clumsy and cute couple.
Delightful rom-com without any over-the-top cliches or annoying side characters and fillers, a catchy song, and a head-strong female lead that you can't help but root for :) -
39. Nanba MG5
Japanese Drama - 2022, 10 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/BL5k2cE
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/k6rAnFJ
Though I admittedly started this school/delinquent themed drama for Mamiya Shotaro, I ended up really enjoying this wacky, over-the-top, noisy, funny and heartwarming, feel-good story.
Kudos to the family's dog, Matsu, and his inner monologues! -
40. Horse Doctor
Korean Drama - 2012, 50 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/4aNJZ7FB
An underrated saguek medical drama, depicting the journey of a young veterinarian, of a low caste and a birth secret, to becoming the Royal Doctor.
Though it was long and had some pacing and repetition problems, the interesting characters (one of the very few kings that wasn't pure evil or just a puppet, some rare SML and SFL that weren't scheming or infuriatingly annoying), the exceptional acting from all cast members, the inspiring and heartwarming story and -last but not least!- the fantastic performance from Cho Seung Woo, made this drama a very enjoyable watch.
A hidden gem and one of Cho Seung Woo's best roles. -
41. Insider
Korean Drama - 2022, 16 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/W6A2qT3
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/e6ppDcy
Beautifully crafted thriller, with a solid web of fine threads of twists, cliffhangers and revelations during the fascinating journey to revenge of Kim Yo Han, a wrongfully accused judicial trainee.
Though the story may be a bit complicated and too dark and violent for some people, it draw me in since episode one.
Kudos to Kang Ha Neul's superb performance and transformation - he definitely knows how to pick intriguing projects! -
42. Double
Japanese Drama - 2022, 10 episodes
An intense, masterfully crafted psychological, character-driven story.
Heavy on the dialogues, with a nuanced depiction of the leads' complex relationship, and superb performances from Chiba Yudai and Nagayama Kento. -

46. Mukou no Hate

Dark, raw, depressing, yet compelling, with a riveting performance from Matsumoto Marika.
Definitely not for everyone... -

https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/XxqyYc8

48. Innocent Days
Japanese Drama - 2018, 6 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/10JD6Qtb
Dark, depressing, slow-paced and character-driven, this is a story about a woman sentenced to death, the crime she committed (or not), the life she had, the people around her and their selfish motivations.
Gripping atmosphere and cinematography, superb performances from Tsumabuki Satoshi & Takeuchi Yuko. -
49. Mental Coach Jegal
Korean Drama - 2022, 16 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/1xmkEKco
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/LAGGjdtz
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/4qVbvWuA
A refreshing sports drama, focused mainly (at least in the beginning) on the athletes' mentality, their struggles, feelings, worries, fears and setbacks.
With a well-balanced mixture of comedic and dramatic moments, some great camaraderie elements, a lot of really inspiring quotes, and some beautifully depicted character development, it was a pleasant healing story to watch.
Though there were some noteworthy pacing issues, some unnecessary plot diversions and some subplots poorly utilized and concluded, overall it was an enjoyable and very emotional ride.
Time well-spent. -
50. Gaus Electronics
Korean Drama - 2022, 12 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/kZvQRFJ
Refreshingly entertaining slapstick comedy/parody with some interesting office dynamics and cute romance stories.
I took me a few episodes to warm up to it, but what a fun ride it was till the end!
[Ma Tan and Aziz being roommates is enough reason for a 2nd season] -
51. One Dollar Lawyer
Korean Drama - 2022, 12 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/EwYZVu3
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/1WROYtR
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/dDDqXTB
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/xdbodFl
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/knQVYhJ
Not perfect in terms of story and pacing, but I had a blast watching this!
This mismatched trio, with their bantering and shenanigans, was a pleasure to watch.
Suave Namkoong Min, with his plaid suits, his glasses, his wacky attitude and posture was a real eye-candy.
That man never disappoints... ? -
52. Weak Hero Class 1
Korean Drama - 2022, 8 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/qXxoAhp
Dark, violent, frustrating but very compelling!
Though the pacing and the plot had some issues during the second half and it felt very unrealistic at times, I really liked the story, the production (especially the fight scenes and the music) and, most of all, the friendship/bromance and the superb acting from all those young actors!
Time well spent. -
53. Haruka no Hikari
Japanese Drama - 2021, 5 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/3DNDzKFx
With many beautiful lighting fixtures and lamps, detailed and compelling narration about their designs,
and some heartfelt, healing quotes, this drama and its unique concept was a breath of fresh air.
Time well-spent :) -
54. Shards of Her
Taiwanese Drama - 2022, 9 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/12Kd1CR
A slow-paced and delicate approach of some very deep, traumatising and disturbing subjects presented through symbolisms and different points of view.
Intriguing, intense, thought-provoking, with poignant performances, especially from Tiffany Hsu & Alyssa Chia.
Definitely not for everyone... -
55. Shijukara
Japanese Drama - 2022, 12 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/QRgROc8
Not your typical Infidelity or Older Woman/Younger Man romance, but a dark, emotionally charged story about two wounded, abused and lonely people trying to get away from their toxic environment and become happy.
Kudos to Itagaki Rihito for his solid performance in spite of his young age! -
56. Money Heist: Korea - Joint Economic Area - Part 2
Korean Drama - 2022, 6 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/0nl0wIN
Much better that the 1st part, with a satisfying insight into the leads backstories and some interesting and well-fitted cultural elements embedded in the story, making it stand out as something more than a simple copy-paste remake from the original. -
57. More than Words
Japanese Drama - 2022, 10 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/e4QYACy
A sad, emotional and introspective story revolving around a compelling love triangle (platonic and sexual) among three friends on their journey from childhood to adulthood.
Smooth and subtle directing, nuanced but powerful performances from the cast in this unique slice of life, coming of age and social commentary on LGBT and aroace people, masterfully blended in between the blurry lines of friendship, romance, deep bonding and family. -
58. Jitenshaya-san no Takahashi-kun
Japanese Drama - 2022, 8 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/6JJVQIl
A down-to-earth, tender and un-cringy romance story, with an adorable couple that has admirable communication and character development.
A short wholesome jdrama that tackles some serious matters in an honest, realistic way without any unnecessary fillers, complications or angst - and the cutest ML. -
59. The Aobas' Dining Table
Japanese Drama - 2018, 4 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/6PqRkhl
A nice watch, with the same comforting, reassuring vibes as the movie. -
60. Utsukushii Kare
Japanese Drama - 2021, 6 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/WXZ3YI3
I must admit that this drama reminded me a lot the time I was watching the dysfunctional relationship in Hana Yori Dango: furious about so many things about it, but couldn't stop watching it till the end ^^
What I found really intriguing was the clever addition of the main leads' inner voices/thoughts - they couldn't justify their problematic behavior, but at least they gave us a better insight into their actions and feelings.
Overall, an interesting depiction of a romance between two people with many flaws, in a non-fluffy way :) -
61. Sixteen Shoukougun
Japanese Drama - 2020, 8 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/LQk8kEUM
Unique and complex, more mature than most of the recent school dramas, with many different story angles and tropes that, unexpectedly, worked well together, even though the character development and the wrap-up felt rushed and too convenient.
Overall, pleasantly surprised by this fast paced and binge worthy short drama. -
62. All of Us Are Dead
Korean Drama - 2022, 12 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/w6AgjcE
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/Zwz6gSx
Binge-able and enjoyable as a one-time watch, but nothing very memorable, mainly due to the weak writing that couldn't make most of the characters (who were too many, unnecessarily annoying and poorly fleshed out) meaningful or worthy to root for. -
63. Suiyobi 22-ji dake no Kare
Japanese Drama - 2021, 6 episodes
Fluffy, cute and very short!
https://m.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLKawxU11I7gJzxiyXqBjzlyjNsbrpzzSg&gl=JP -
64. Stairway to Heaven
Korean Drama - 2003, 20 episodes
A classic makjang, with all the typical frustrating & unrealistic cliches, some really infuriating characters and a lot of illogical plot tropes and actions, but somehow so nostalgic and welcoming...
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/x1Az5tl -
65. Shinbun Kisha
Japanese Drama - 2022, 6 episodes
Though the story wasn't something groundbreaking, it was beautifully acted and filmed.
Yonekura Ryoko and Ayano Go were exceptional. -
66. Pope Rak
Thai Drama - 2014, 12 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/XQxdEF8
Interesting and enjoyable lakorn, without any unnecessary sub-plots/fillers, or over the top hysterical, screaming, evil second leads with less than two brain cells, slap-kiss or rape.
In spite of the strong fantasy basis of the story, it was quite believable and properly developed.
Though it became somewhat repetitive and draggy towards the end, Mark Prin's naughty antics and charm, as well as his chemistry with Bella made this drama a nice watch. -
67. When My Love Blooms
Korean Drama - 2020, 16 episodes
A quiet, slow-paced and emotional melodrama with two beautiful love stories: the sweet, adorable first love of the young couple and the challenging, angsty love of their mature selves.
All four leads did a great job portraying their characters, while the cinematography, the colouring, the scenery and the perfectly-fitted music made the story more enjoyable. -
68. Class of Lies
Korean Drama - 2019, 16 episodes
Though it had some pacing and balancing between genres problems (school aspect was more developed and 'realistic' than the investigating one), overall it was an interesting watch.
Nothing memorable, but adequate. -
69. Watcher
Korean Drama - 2019, 16 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/ZekkBhx
A character driven investigation story, a bit overly complicated and on the slow-paced side, but with a great cast, detailed production and gripping music score.
The leads delivered beautifully their flawed, ambitious, secretive characters and their confrontations,
as well as their team work, were the best parts of this dark and a bit messy drama. -
70. Snow White
Korean Drama - 2004, 16 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/0YKBLuN
Though dated (some hairstyles and clothing were really awkward!), this is a very underrated rom-com.
Many familiar clichés, a rather predictable plot, but not the usual evil second leads, objecting relatives and toxic revenge subplots.
The FL was too naive and sometimes really annoying for my taste, but overall it was a pleasant, easy to watch story.
I'd have enjoyed it -and rated- higher if I had watched it years ago ^^ -
71. Black Cinderella
Japanese Drama - 2021, 8 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/xzxzVil
Enjoyable high school rom-com about inner beauty, self confidence, acceptance and character growth.
Predictable but very charming, mainly due to both MLs, who were beautiful inside out :)
A pleasant surprise! -
72. Crazy Love
Korean Drama - 2022, 16 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/0XkmDCN
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/q1KLJsp
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/dny0XIB
After a strong, very entertaining start, it became more melo than comedy, which made it a bit tiring and flat. Not bad, but it kinda lost its momentum during the last episodes. -
73. Diary of a Prosecutor
Korean Drama - 2019, 16 episodes
A drama with a great cast and beautifully fleshed out characters that tried to combine many genres in its storyline (law, slice of life, comedy, friendship, investigation, corruption) and succeeded - almost, if we exclude the slow pacing and the (purposely) very annoying, rude and disrespectful FL.
-
74. You Are My Heartbeat
Thai Drama - 2022, 20 episodes
For me, the only good parts of this drama were the cute (but unfortunately few) scenes of the main couple with their bickering and blooming romance. Most of the side characters, the office dynamics and, especially, the last episodes focused on grandma's ark were unnecessary and boring.
-
75. Hotarugusa
Japanese Drama - 2019, 7 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/q62wgcp
Short but comprehensive historical story of family bonding, samurai honor and justice, with a great blend of comic and dramatic elements, and a fantastic performance from 17yo Kiyohara Kaya!
(too bad though, that edo-period hairstyle didn't do Machida Keita any justice at all ^^) -
76. Happy Home
Korean Drama - 2016, 51 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/6Aqx4sl
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/xzDY5Tl
Only for avid family makjang fans.
Though it had some interesting subplots and cool ladies, there were too many frustrating, overly selfish characters and hair-pulling moments to fully enjoy the Bong family's story...
At least Lee Sang Woo and Kim So Yeon met on the set and tied the knot shortly after :) -
77. Ao to Boku
Japanese Drama - 2018, 6 episodes
Tense, suspenseful, reserved but emotional, a bit confusing though due to the overuse of past and present swaps.
-
78. Again My Life
Korean Drama - 2022, 16 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/Xk0Zlt8
Came for Lee Joon Gi, stayed for Lee Joon Gi.
All the rest could've been so much better... -
79. From Now On, Showtime!
Korean Drama - 2022, 16 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/j6rJXCj
An entertaining, fun and easy watch, mainly due to the fantastic ghost team-work! -
80. Youkai Sharehouse: Kaettekita n Kai
Japanese Drama - 2022, 9 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/p60bPCP
Unfortunately not as good as its prequel...
That uniquely bizarre, zany feeling and the character development were barely present in this one.
But, the actors' improvisations, synergy and bonding were clearly visible and praiseworthy! -
81. Gokushufudo
Japanese Drama - 2020, 10 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/wRV0lIE
Uniquely funny and heartwarming, with a fantastic yakuza househusband persona from Tamaki Hiroshi! -
82. Brain
Korean Drama - 2011, 20 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/Z6BJXIx
Can a drama with a protagonist having all the flaws of an antagonist (cold, highly ambitious, arrogant, selfish, manipulative, self-righteous, petty and and awfully scheming) be addicting and entertaining?
Yes, if Shin Ha Kyun is the main lead! -
83. Money Heist: Korea - Joint Economic Area - Part 1
Korean Drama - 2022, 6 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/p63xPcP
A decent watch, though with a not very satisfying development of the leads backstories and a fast-forward feeling to it, but entertaining enough.
In any case, if the only purpose of watching a remake is the comparison with the original series, then I don't really see the point of such a time investment... -
84. Iburigurashi
Japanese Drama - 2022, 13 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/wRrxDiE
A heart-warming, feel-good food drama, spiced with small boosts of slice-of-life, romance and character development.
Happiness from preparing and sharing a tasty snack, a family Sunday meal or a picnic. Bonding through sharing the same dreams and all the trivial, little things in life.
Time well-spent :) -
85. Remarriage and Desires
Korean Drama - 2022, 8 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/ELqbEc3
An entertaining three women show, in a makjang chaebol revenge setting.
A promising premise that, with a more thorough script combing, would have been something more memorable. -
86. Mirai e no 10 Count
Japanese Drama - 2022, 9 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/47bob6f7
The story had the typical school/sports inspirational and character development plot, but Kimutaku and Mitsushima Hikari made it more interesting and enjoyable! -
87. Shitsuren Meshi
Japanese Drama - 2022, 10 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/wblxQcE
A quirky, funny, heartwarming (and delicious) food/romance drama, describing the everyday life of a cute mangaka while searching for inspiration about her stories. -
88. We Will Grow Old Together
Chinese Special - 2022, 1 episode
-
89. Midnight Sun
Thai Special - 2016, 1 episode
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yASuyWiqhfg
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/WKoVZS3
Much better than I expected, with the coolest cat! -
90. Poong, the Joseon Psychiatrist
Korean Drama - 2022, 12 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/WDWZYc3
Enjoyable and entertaining (though not so memorable and groundbreaking), mainly due to Kim Min Jae's charms and charisma. -
91. Narco-Saints
Korean Drama - 2022, 6 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/dD3RJiB
Nothing groundbreaking, but still very suspenseful and enjoyable.
Top-notch production, nice pacing and some great acting from the main cast.
Though it felt too westernized and subs were more necessary for the English speaking parts than the Korean ones, it was a well-made drama and a nice addition in the drug/action genre. -
92. Ame ni Kieta Himawari
Japanese Drama - 2022, 5 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/BWEEmsE
Dark, heavy and very emotional, with a realistic as well as delicate approach to a difficult subject and great performances from Muro Tsuyoshi and Sato Ryuta.
Though it's short (only 5 episodes less than an hour long each) it's slow-paced and the main focus is on the aftermath of the disappearance case on the victim's family relationships and emotions, rather than the incident itself. -
93. If You Wish Upon Me
Korean Drama - 2022, 16 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/BWW0DiE
Though a bit imbalanced when dealing with the various subplots, and in spite of almost 'abandoning' somewhere in the middle the team Genie missions for two unnecessary darker side plots, it was a heartwarming healing/found family story, with great team work and acting.
Its best part definitely was the father/son relationship of Sung Dong Il and Ji Chang Wook's characters. -
94. Ishiko to Haneo: Sonna Koto de Uttaemasu?
Japanese Drama - 2022, 10 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/1XnxGafk
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/vB4nNIx
Feel-good and easy-going law drama, spiced with some romance here and there, and a great duo from Arimura Kasumi and Nakamura Tomoya, with a fantastic chemistry, full of support, character growth and witty bantering. -
95. Rinko-san wa Shite Mitai
Japanese Drama - 2021, 8 episodes
Cute and fluffy, good for an easy binge-watch.
-
96. Mahou no Rinobe
Japanese Drama - 2022, 10 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/RNmbQhP
The story was a bit formulaic and cliche, but warm and cozy nonetheless.
The best part was Koume and Gen's pairing (and bantering), as well as the ending song scenes. -
97. Nice Flight!
Japanese Drama - 2022, 8 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/e40RkFy
An informative story centered around airplanes and airports, spiced with a cute, slow burn romance. Simple, yet enjoyable. -
98. Tabi Suru Sandwich
Japanese Special - 2022, 1 episode
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/X7Z4Rs8
Tasty and heartwarming short story about farming, cooking, eating and family relationships, with two cute, bubbly and inspiring FLs. -
99. Room Laundering
Japanese Drama - 2018, 4 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/wBVZyFE
Perhaps I'd like it much more if I had watched the movie first, but even so it was surprisingly good.
After all, Ikeda Elaiza, Odagiri Joe and Ito Kentaro are always a pleasure to watch.
Too short though... I wouldn't say no to more episodes/ghost stories, as well as Miko and Akito's romance! -
100. Subete Wasurete Shimau kara
Japanese Drama - 2022, 10 episodes
https://mydramalist.com/profile/penel/feeds/EwpNjH3
Slow-paced, character driven and heavy on dialogues, narration and internal monologues, this is a uniquely bizarre drama, not always easy to follow.
Abe Hiroshi and Ono Machiko, the M(ale) and F(emale) characters of this story did a splendid job.
