cute fantasy GL with a surprisingly engaging story. despite having episodes that are only a few minutes long, the drama does a great job developing both the sweet romance between Jiang Zhao Tun and A-Ze and the mystery surrounding Changshui Village. the chemistry between the leads is charming, the CGI is better than expected for a low-budget production, and the series balances emotional moments with lighthearted humor. short but enjoyable, and definitely worth a watch for fans of fantasy sapphic romances.

i had really high expectations for this because the premise was so strong and the first half completely pulled me in. the drama handled domestic violence with a lot of care and lee yoo mi gave one of the most heartbreaking performances i've seen in a while. i also loved seeing two women choosing each other and supporting each other instead of being pitted against one another. unfortunately, once the jang gang plot took over, the story started losing focus. the thriller twists became more important than the emotional journey of hui su and eun su, and several plot points relied on convenience rather than logic. i still found it compelling enough to finish, but i wish the second half had stayed grounded in the themes that made the beginning so powerful. despite its flaws, as you stood by is worth watching for its performances and the conversations it sparks about domestic violence, complicity, and survival. it's messy, frustrating, and occasionally loses its way, but the emotions hit hard enough that it stayed with me long after the ending.
