Actors and actresses who deeply impressed me...

... in at least one of their works
... and led me (or might lead me) to some of their other works

Attention, because I don't really want to get hate because of diverging opinions: This list is highly subjective. It honestly should already be clear by the fact that the list's name includes "impressed me", but better saying things twice than never... And I feel bad that there are very few women, okay? And yes, I'm into pretty faces, I know XD

  • Gong Jun

  • Kim Bum

    South Korean

His performance in Tale of the Nine-tailed (2020) was in my opinion very good. I got to admit that I often end up liking the "villains" but in the beginning I absolutely hated his character. Only when we proceeded with getting to know his character better I started liking and loving his character. In the end he was my favourite!

I honestly don't know if I really will watch any of his other works, I'll definitely look into it though.

  • Leo Wu

    Chinese

The first drama he starred in that I watched was Cross Fire (2020), which I actually started watching because of Lu Han. However, I liked his performance enough that I decided to watch Tomb of the Sea (2018), The Whirlwind Girl (2015) and its sequel The Whirlwind Girl 2 (2016). So far I really enjoyed the first two while having ambivalent feelings towards the third and ending up dropping the fourth. However, there are two of his other dramas on my Plan to Watch list and I'm excited to see more of him.

Update: Got a new favourite Wu Lei-Drama, The Long Ballad was THAT good.

  • Nomura Shuhei

    Japanese

I watched Kekkon aite wa chusen de (2018) and he impressed me really much there. However, I think I will need to warm up to the idea of watching Japanese dramas as well before thinking about watching another of his works.

  • Shin Ha Kyun

    South Korean

  • Song Joong Ki

    South Korean

So far I've only liked Descendants of the Sun (2016), but I definitely will look into watching other works of his. Vincenzo sorely disappointed me...

  • Wang Hao Xuan

    Chinese

This is a funny one. I first got to know him in The Untamed (2019), started watching Dance of the Phoenix (2020) in October 2020 and ended up watching Tomb of the Sea (2018) the month after, all the while not even knowing previously that he took part in the drama. I liked all of his performances so I decided that he earned his spot on the list, even though it was more of an accident that I watched all of these.

  • Wang Yi Bo

    Chinese

First of all, yes, it's The Untamed (2019)'s fault that he's on this list. And no, despite Legend of Fei (2020) being on my high priority list (and honestly already open on one of my 6 internet tabs...) I haven't watched any of his further works yet...

  • Xiao Zhan

    Chinese

He's here, mainly because of The Untamed (2019). Further works I have watched and (mostly)  enjoyed are Jade Dynasty 1 (2019) and The Wolf (2020). Admittedly, my relationship to The Wolf is a rather complicated one and I thought about dropping it more than only once, but in the end I'm glad I persisted and finished watching it.

  • Yang Yang

    Chinese

Probably one of the most popular Chinese actors if the amount of comments on Rakuten Viki during the first episode of The Lost Tomb (2015) is anything to judge by. However, this definitely is not the first of his dramas I've watched. If I remember the order correctly, the first one was The King's Avatar (2019), which ended up as one of my favourite dramas so far. Its season 2 has been on my list since I found out that there will be one (hopefully it wasn't cancelled). Other dramas I at least started watching include The Whirlwind Girl (2015) and its sequel. As mentioned in a previously written comment, I dropped the latter. However, that was due to the storyline and not the fault of any actor/actress. Surprisingly many of Yang Yang's works remain on my watching list and I really hope to be able to watch them one day. My favourite so far is probablyThe King's Avatar, though You Are My Glory (2021) is a good second place so far.

  • Yeo Jin Goo

    South Korean

  • Zhang Ming En

    Chinese

So far I've seen his work in The Mystic Nine (2016), Tomb of the Sea (2018), Ultimate Note (2020) and The Mystic Nine Side Story: Tiger Bones Plum Blossom (2016). In all dramas I really enjoyed his performances, so I'm definitely planning on watching some of his other works as well.

  • Zhang Zhe Han

    Chinese

  • Zhu Yi Long

    Chinese

Mainly here because of his performance in Reunion: Sound of Providence (2020) and Guardian solidified his spot on this list.
