skimmed
Dramas I've skimmed just enough of to understand the plot/appreciate the characters... but have no interest in watching completely due to sad endings, draggy story-lines, poor plot execution, too many episodes, etc.

1. Fireworks of My Heart
Chinese Drama - 2023, 40 episodes
Entirely too long. So much filler. Loved the MC's chemistry, but their characters were bland... very two-dimensional. I couldn't really root for either of them, tbh, which was unfortunate because I REALLY wanted to. xP So much unnecessary family drama too.
-
2. Game of Outlaws
Thai Drama - 2021, 19 episodes
Still haven't decided on this one. I LOVE the cast (and they have fantastic chemistry), but the plot has a lot of holes. May still watch in the future if I'm in the mood, but for now... ehh.

3. Golden House Hidden Love
Chinese Drama - 2024, 24 episodes
Not bad, but not good, either. I have enjoyed the ML's acting in the past, but his character here was blahhhh. FL was infantile and childish (and their size difference weirded me out lmaoo). Decent acting. Plot could've been interesting, but wasn't executed well.

4. South Wind Knows
Chinese Drama - 2023, 39 episodes
Fantastic cast. And so much whump lmao. (IYKYK) But the plot was all over the place... I felt like they were telling 4 different stories at the same time. And AGAIN with the fucking family drama. IT'S SO DUMB. It's so unnecessary. I think these people need to accept the fact that working in the same company with family members is almost always a bad idea. That's where all the damn nonsense comes from in business dramas. Lol.
That being said... I adore Cheng Yi. His acting was the best part of the whole show. His character was so complex and beautifully portrayed. He just deserved a better plot to pair this character with.

5. As Beautiful as You
Chinese Drama - 2024, 40 episodes
Too many damn episodes. Ugh. I did enjoy the MC... their romance was cute, and the plot wasn't bad, I'm just not into drawn out business dramas tbh. I care about the characters, not their jobs. Lol. I skimmed this (and enjoyed it), but can't commit to watching the whole thing. :(
-
6. Doctor Slump
Korean Drama - 2024, 16 episodes
Storyline is too weak for me to even invest my time in. :( I LOVE the cast... but just can't do it. *sigh* Plus, too many episodes. As usual.
-
7. Club Friday Love & Belief: Love Tragedy
Thai Special - 2022, 5 episodes
Mostly watched this for the whump, and I cannot remember the ending. The story was solid, though, and reasonably fascinating. Good acting.
-
8. Midnight Museum
Thai Drama - 2023, 10 episodes
I never watch horror shows, and this one was borderline for me at times... but I watched for Tor, and he did not disappoint. Lol. He has fantastic chemistry with both male and female costars, and the "bromance" was so good, plot was interesting, and the acting was stellar.

9. Remembering Lichuan
Chinese Drama - 2016, 38 episodes
The timeline of this show made no logical sense to me. The way everything jumped around so much with no explanation left me frustrated more often than not. The plot is exasperating as well. I originally skimmed it because I knew the ending before I started, and I still ended up crying so many times - largely due to the incredible acting skills of the leads.
(Finding out the ML actor passed away at the age of 35 made it even more heartbreaking. RIP, Godfrey Gao </3)

10. The Whirlwind Girl Season 2
Chinese Drama - 2016, 36 episodes
I watched this one pretty closely (for Ji Chang Wook lol), but skipped so much of the filler with the 2ML and all the nonsensical drama surrounding that. The drama itself felt weak, plot was subpar, acting was ehhh. (Again, JCW carried this show. And he doesn't even speak Chinese!) I truly didn't care about any of the characters except for Chang An and found the FL whiny and obnoxious. Glad I skimmed it.

11. Saying Goodbye
Filipino Drama - 2021, 8 episodes
Such a beautifully told story with a really sweet (if sad) love story, and solid acting. I may go back and actually watch this someday, but for now, skimming it was good enough for me.
-
12. A Journey to Love
Chinese Drama - 2023, 40 episodes
The most confusing thing is... I LOVE this drama. LOVE IT. I love the cast. I love the characters. I was so in love with the whole show (and watched bits of it here and there as it was airing).
But that fucking ending... absolutely ruined everything for me. (I saw spoilers of the ending right after I started watching in earnest.) I actually cried for a week after seeing the ending... and then I decided I was never going to go back and watch the entire thing. Too painful. BEAUTIFUL SHOW. Fantastic characters. Exquisite acting. But too painful for me to handle. :(

13. Sore wa, Totsuzen, Arashi no you ni..
Japanese Drama - 2004, 10 episodes
Watched for the whump... this show introduced me to Yamashita Tomohisa, and now I'm obsessed with him. Lol. (He was such a baby here!) It's very true to the time period (early 2000s shows have a very distinct feel), and I didn't care for the love story much at all. But Yamashita was fantastic.

14. Angels Fall Sometimes
Chinese Drama - 2024, 24 episodes
Too painful to watch in its entirety, but I ended up watching more than I thought I would due to the masterful acting, depth of the storytelling, and overall charm of the characters. This is truly a masterpiece. Heartbreaking and so difficult to watch, but full of the bitter (and bittersweet) realities of life with ALS.
Lin Yi was INCREDIBLE. He made me cry so many times. This must have been an extremely challenging (and emotionally exhausting!) role to portray with such delicacy and tact, but he pulled it off with a captivating grace.
The love story was painful and beautiful in so many ways, the familial relationships and the friendships were raw and so realistic. This didn't even feel like a drama, it felt like I was watching real life unfold before my eyes. If I could handle the pain, I would watch the whole thing. But, while the ending was technically "open" (and I've deluded myself into thinking it's happier than it had any chance to be), my mind knows the reality of ALS, and I can't put myself through it.

15. Snowy Night Timeless Love
Chinese Drama - 2024, 32 episodes
This drama felt so disjointed, it was hard to follow... the story unfolds over several years with time jumps in almost every episode. ML's quest to find a cure for his friend's son was noble, but started feeling monotonous after a while. I love Joseph, though. His acting was really good, and the cinematography was gorgeous... but it wasn't enough to make up for the plot and the (sad) ending.

16. Kill Me Love Me
Chinese Drama - 2024, 32 episodes
i don't even have words for how pissed i am about this drama tbh. the writers fucked up the entire story and CHANGED THE ENDING. i'm convinced you have to be certifiably sadistic to write historical dramas these days. such a disappointment. LOVED the cast (LXY is always fantastic) but there was no excuse for the horrible writing.
