Unconventional Story

I consider myself a veteran when it comes to drama watching, having first started watching Asian dramas well over 15 years ago. I have witness every type of story imaginable but from time to time I come across an unconventional story that still shock me. This list is dedicated to those stories.

  • Kenja no Ai

    1. Kenja no Ai

    Japanese Drama - 2016, 4 episodes

    9.0

A short Japanese dramas that deserve praise. The story is shocking and unconventional but the execution is done so well that it keeps you at the edge of your seat. Kenja No Ai is a very mature and dark story about a middle age women who manipulate and moulded the son of her friend into the perfect young man who cannot live without her for the sake of revenge.

If you're after an amazing story, beautifully executed, unconventional and breaks away from the norm then definitely give this one a shot.

  • Lovestruck in the City

    2. Lovestruck in the City

    Korean Drama - 2020, 17 episodes

Story wise, it's been done a thousand times. What I find unconventional about this drama is the way the drama is filmed and the way the characters are portrayed. You feel a bit jarring when you start watching the drama because the characters are talking the viewers directly. It feels like you're watching a vlog and reality show combine. When watching this drama you feel more connected to the characters and it feels you're following their journey every steps along the way.

At its core, the story follow 6 individuals and their perspective on love. Give Lovestruck in the City a shot cause I promise, you've never seen a drama like this before,
